Yeah, I know. I don’t mean to come off aggressive, but I’m responding to what you said and explaining why it’s irritating seeing fans joke about something she said 5/6 years ago.

Back in 2013. And she didn’t care that people knew because she wanted to finish the visuals for EH. It’s stupid to act like her label didn’t make money off of her after that. It’s not funny in 2019.

Well, you can disagree with her. I mean Bow Wow got the same joke- but I think the key difference is he instigated it and he’s an asshole in general. Idk why you guys started it with Marina. If anything, it may not be toxic masculinity, but it’s still toxic in itself. Idk how you can consider yourself a fan if you find that shit funny or defensible. I think it’s really easy for us to say “just ignore it!!” when we’re not the ones getting hundreds of those messages online whenever we post. I’ve seen people delete their social media for less, and Marina did that. But people also got mad at her for distancing herself from social media, so what do you guys want from her? Lmao

If I have hundreds of people over 4 years telling me the same lame “joke” every moment I post, then yeah I’d be bitchy in my responses.

That Dazed interview was so good and explains a lot of why she seemed to be very distant after the whole Froot tour. I’m glad she retreated and seeked help to find herself again. Marina is a strong person and I really appreciate her honesty. The “poor” jokes were less about toxic masculinity, but more about toxic fandoms. Never found the jokes funny and it’s completely stupid to expect new music from an artist who is obviously going through tough shit and didn’t announce anything anytime soon. She was smart in announcing new music when she was ready. I prefer quality over quantity and I especially prefer CLARITY over leaving your fans to guess when you mean what you say. That’s why it was easy to wait, at least for me. I still wish she included her last name because it’s pretty and would make her name stand-out in line-ups and such, but I respect it now knowing why she did it.

Oh yeah she was! And people thought that maybe it did or didn’t happen, but she’s the perfect type to be recruited to a group like that. Like you said, she’s unsure of herself and I think she’s been that way for a long time. Maybe more so than most of us and that makes her vulnerable to people like this. Then again, she does have a lot of will and her biggest mistake is forcing herself to believe she’s moved past her old habits. Just because you recognize your problems, doesn’t mean they get better overnight. She probably was really trying during LFL, but maybe the going from the Yosemite mindset to the frustrated Cherry mindset during the making of LFL kind of threw her off- like she was disappointed in herself. That also probably contributed to her indecisiveness during that era. Then she regained confidence working with Jack and made these great songs- but now that it’s done and in the promotional stage, she’s lost direction and puts in less effort, less care in her actions, and following her crowd of friends thinking her job of self progression is done. I hope she’ll rethink her actions but who knows really...

The way the celebrities talk about it- I get cult vibes. I studied cults for a sec in college, and religion in general can be used to manipulate vulnerable people. Real talk- celebrities are endorsing it, so either they’re too dumb to realize it or not, but they’re being used by the church to get more recognition and get more ordinary people to join them. I’ve always trusted my instincts, and I never liked the group of celeb women she started hanging out with recently. The “insta baddie” jokes- yeah, Lana can be silly like that sometimes- but the people she’s now surrounding herself with give me shallow, vapid influencer vibes. Like they’re gravitating toward this church along with other big celebs because they’re trying to find something “meaningful”. It isn’t that obviously. Hillsong has malicious intentions and it really gives me an impression of it being a cult so I won’t be surprised if more tragedy behind the scenes is revealed later on. Lana really thought she progressed and cut toxic people out of her life, but that isn’t true since she’s now involving herself in her new friends’ interest.

At the very least, I thought we were going to get updates about her poetry book this whole time since she wanted to release that one first. I know she said it would be limited release, but did she ever mention it again after that one interview? I feel like she mentioned it in a post but I can’t remember.

It’s ok! To be fair, I was exhausted last night and annoyed seeing Lana attended that Hillsong church again. I prefer it when artists use stand-alone singles (Florence with her release of Moderation + a little second song) or EPs with one song that will make the upcoming album along two or a few more songs that didn’t. That’s good hype to me, because it feels like a gift to fans and builds hype for an upcoming album without giving too much away and the artist still gets money for work they would’ve otherwise shelved.

It's been said a million times before: the first lead single is yet to come and the three first tracks were to help us be patient before NFR. Besides, have you heard the lyrics, the way the songs respond each other? And Lana never released any standalone singles to this date... (though she should). Girl, I know all that. I was just saying how I’m over her idea of what fan tracks are.

Let’s be honest... wouldn’t fan singles be songs that aren’t making the album? Like the two country sounding songs would’ve been good stand-alone singles for “hype”, then releasing MAC, VB, Cinnamon as singles, then an album cover reveal, track list reveal, then the album itself (along with a great box set like UV’s and merch). It would’ve been perfect. Just the fact that the previous three songs are “fan singles” is annoying af because it’s starting to get to me that we heard 70% of the album before we even have a confirmed release date. Also, as much as I love Lana, I can’t help but give props to a 17 year-old singer who is doing better promo and being clear when her album is getting released.

Same. It’s beautiful, but I need the rest of the album to fully appreciate it.

I was about to say this. Geez, girl. What is she doooooiiiin. And what happened to leaving toxic relationships behind? Lmfao and I hope these celebrities know they’re being used by the church for their agenda- whatever that may be. I just read an article and they sound like a fucking cult.

1. I wouldn’t mind if it is. 2. Neil’s Honeymoon photos were very rosy and it fit the music so I wished it was reflected more on the cover. LFL was teal but I got more of a 70’s mustard yellow from it because of the summer festival vibes I got from it. NFR songs give me late winter/spring vibes. So I’d like cool colors/a colorful cover, but given that it’s gonna be shot by Chuck, it’s probably going to be muted colors/washed out/slightly teal again. 3. I’m leaning toward maybe not as much, or won’t look as forced as the LFL cover. She did say this album was more “introspective sad girl shit”. 4. 95% chance it’ll be shot by Chuck. 3% it’ll be Neil since Ben didn’t like her proposed album cover and she won’t bother looking for a new photographer. 1.5 % chance it’ll be reshot by herself- like the HIADT single cover. And a .5% it’ll be a new photographer or someone she hasn’t worked with in a while. I really want Sébastien Micke, the guy who shot her Paris Match Magazine photos to do the cover and album artwork.

Can I just say.... that the reason she scrapped Yosemite is stupid.

For the older users- is this the most uneventful era? Bc I’ve been a fan since BTD, and reading through some older threads, I’m surprised people were mad at how things were released in the past. Like, even tho LFL is my least fave album, at least we had promo for it and I don’t blame Lana for the Love situation. Her indecisiveness is what made the album suffer. And no new songs have leaked- which is great, but I get aggravated seeing no confirmation as to what’s happening. I know some of you say, “She doesn’t care anymore, this is a personal album”. Like someone said before, her lack of interest is making me less interested. The quality of the music doesn’t save it for me anymore.

Wouldn’t she have made up for it with the LA to the Moon tour, the pop-up shop, the LFL merch and the Gucci campaign? (and the possible adidas sponsor back in 2017 ._.)

Kacey Musgraves. I like her style, but don’t get the hype when it comes to her music. Then again, I only tried listening to three songs.

Dangerous Woman got me interested when it came out! I’ll check out the other songs

The music videos for UV, Freak, LFL, WM, MAC and VB are her weakest because of the editing. The aesthetics are there, but the finished product is so boring. They look pretty, but that’s it. WM and Freak are the worst. You’re lying to yourself if you think that crap was serving anything but a snooze fest.
