This is so sad... Listening to Old Money while reading this didn't help at all. In some ways, I understand how she feels, glorifying death, finding peace in it and all. The fact that Lou Reed was just about to collaborate with her and died though, wow.

Imagine dinner at Lana's, you sitting there....Lana on the left, eating slowly as she looks into space, depressed, her hair immaculate, but dry tears on her face, Barrie to the right, long unwashed hair over his face, depressed, not eating, but staring into space as he writes poetry on paper without even looking at his pen, silence............what fun. 

I don't think she's saying it as in "suicide would be great" or anything like that. Although, I think it's a pretty touchy subject to talk to the general public, I kinda know how she's feeling. I'm not saying I wanna be dead too but I think she finds peace in death and there's this philosophical and romanticized way to see death...
 
Anyway I hope she'll be okay but I still think we, as a society, need to stop glorifying death..

All the love from her fans will never fill the emptiness she feels inside or increase the love she doesn't have for herself. That's not real love, it's not shared, she's not connected deeply with people and it's understandable. The applause is just a thrill. It's not reality. And she can't face reality. She can't find a place where she belongs, she can't find people to rely to and she have a hard time keeping meaningful relationships. She still feels alone when there are so many people who would like to love her and care for her. I might be wrong, but that's how I see things. It's sad.

I just hope she'll find some peace again soon and figures out the right path for her to be happy. But I don't really know why some of you are totally surprised like this girl is singing about running towards gates and how 'cheap thrills' get her closer to death etc. I guess she truly believes in life after death and she's just longing for paradise. You know she says she lived a long life, she has no ambition to go on.. I really hope she and Barrie aren't toxic for each other, they may have huge empathy for their partner, but maybe they drag each other down sometimes. But yeah I see the fact she's mentioning this in an interview is worrying, hope she battles through it until she'll find some sort of balance again "living with my sadness" as she would put it.

I actually feel quite guilty after I read this interview. If she doesn't like the fame, why does she release new music and why does she play so many concerts all over the world ?
I'm going to see her performing live for the second time in one week and how can I be able to ban the thought that she doesn't feel comfortable with what she's doing while I'm having one of the best times of my life ??

This song is fantastic. I think dan taught Lana to be more spontaneous and the results are great. Instead of working with the same people over and over she has used a different producer, a different director, a different photographer. I love the fact the timing of the song is more like a live performance than a typical studio track.
 
One of my favourite songs is Are You Here by Corinne Bailey Rae. The chorus in Shades of Cool sounds VERY similar imo, which I'm happy about because I always imagine Lana covering Are You Here

I love how this song swells like Million Dollar Man. Such a life-giving effect in both songs. Yet as apt as some comparisons have been, it still feels like a total departure. The unintelligible bridge is especially cool.

I love this song. It sounds like one of her songs that would leak without actually getting a release - the songs we all wish she would release. This to me sounds like an evolution from Prom Song (Gone Wrong) in a way. Prom Song is written from the adolescent side of love while this is written from an experienced one - one that has dealt with heartbreak, loss, and trying to move on.

It's time for the kids to jump off from the Lana train. She's going in a different direction with UV. I love SOC. UV will not be a sing along album with 15 y.o but it's great for her development as an artist. I don't care for the charts, I'm ready to enjoy the UV experience
