  1. Also what is fucking up with complaining about Ultraviolence. I don't really have anything thoughtful or nuanced to say, just it's a shame she thinks so lowly of it. She described it as 'one of [her] favorites" in Brisbane :/
  2. What is she singing, literally anytime I listen a car drives past or my housemate yells something. Something cute like "you're my special friend . . ." ? Also is the same tone-deaf zombie fan at every show trying to 'sing' along with Cinnamon? "vIOlOt bLU grEEn REd" i don't know who the fuck you are but you sound like a donkey getting randy.
  3. Bumping this up! Hearing Lana's cover of Wicked Game reminded me of this lovely version by LG. Can't wait for them to be back soon. After the Flume collab they said they were busy in the studio so I'm keeeen.
  4. VIdeo Games makes total sense. It's a turning point for her career, and was an absolute phenomenon which introduced her to the world. The Greatest is awesome but ehhhh I think Ride or West Coast are more cultural milestones for her.
  5. Lana would never sing the National Anthem at the Superbowl? The band doesn't KNOW that one ??!?
  6. Someone on Reddit said she sang California and snapped with "You always do this, and you say you'll help me with the lyrics but I don't know the words and you don't know the words". What the fuck, what is with her? Also why can't she ever remember what key she wrote the song in. She apparently sang BAR too
  7. I still haven't reflected fully on the album. But my bitchy lil ass has lots of thoughts on the production. I think Jack has made some basic mistakes in terms of overseeing mixing and production but I still can't get over how clumsy Rick Nowels is at producing her tracks. The static noise on the vocals in Bartender are so obvious that it really detracts from the song (this was also the case for songs on LFL and HM like Heroin and Honeymoon). Surely someone would listen to the final master before saying 'ok hit publish'. This is also the case on BAR, which I really like, but I wish it had just been on LFL or released separately since sonically it just does not fit with NFR. It is essentially the sister track to 13 Beaches in terms of production - even the sequencing patches used on the bridge that Kieron Menzies programmed for 13 Beaches is shared in both tracks. Probably just an unfortunate series of her probably regretting cutting it, annoyed at having it leaked, and doubting her choice of lyrics. Overall it doesn't matter, it's out now and it's not like she'll ever revisit it or sing it live but STILL. It's not my favorite but Doin' Time is the most exciting track on the album. Really sumptuous production, vibrant patches, interesting instrumentation and thoughtful and dexterous use of her vocals.
  8. What on EARTH is she talking about? She has no mixing credits on Ultraviolence, and only has a handful of producing credits - which is always shared with multiple others (Pretty When You Cry, Flipside + Guns and Roses). Is she talking about that version of Ultraviolence that she threw away? Great interview though. That picture of her climbing on the piano is batshit crazy and I LOVE IT. And a covers album would be fantastic. Image a cover of Wicked Game.
  9. Such a boring approach. So Byron is basically saying "people will pay for anything". With that logic, you could play the entire new record live and everyone would be happy. Just so weird, surely she is proud of her new material? I think the thing that irks me is not only that the set list is the same, but so is the arrangements and instrumentation . . . bring back the strings pls.
  10. Great vocals tonight. Shades of Cool was very good, and the guitar is mixed so well. I've literally never heard her back up singer's vocals so that Off to the Races clip is good! When I saw the 'For Free' title i was hoping it would be Yosemite! Ah well . . .
  11. Little know fact, Lana actually dictated the NFR track list to Trump, and he transcribed it!
  12. Oooh I was hoping someone would ask this. What interview? As a demo I thought this song was my favorite piece by Lana. "Fuck you" songs, like Positively 4th Street by Bob Dylan are so delicious, and the vitriol was so cutting. OH WELL.
  13. Yesssss. Justin did Video Games, Ride, Born to Die AND National Anthem. The OG Beautiful People is great too. I would love an album of them writing and Paul Epworth producing!
  14. I don't really have any opinion on the setlist, but who cares about TNC when Chelsea Hotel #2 exists? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTwkoz0XYhU The chemistry, delivery, embodiment and synergy between them in this piece is stunning. She sounds beautiful and confident, and clearly loves the song (also no need for any vocal tracks). It's like the piece she was born to sing! Very happy and taken with this performance and it would have been very special to hear live. I hope one day there is a lil release where they do a studio recording together . . . maybe in 10 years on 'Noir: The Best of Lana del Rey'
  15. The Chelsea Hotel live she just did. oh my god. So beautiful and moving. I know she did it way back and live since, but I wish she could have included it on this record too. It seems to really fit with the NFR theme. ughhhhh
  16. Ultraviolence Born to Die + Paradise NFR Honeymoon Lust for Life AKA Thinking about this sonically and cohesively. I think Honeymoon has some more breathtaking songs than NFR and better mixing and production (and overall vision) but NFR has more melodies I like. Likewise, I think Born to Die has dumb lyrics sometimes but I like EVERY song on it. Ultraviolence is perfect. I listen to it once a month at least in it's entirety and sing it daily so that's the one!
  17. Wouldn't you love a dazed and confused Lana descending from the ceiling for her bridge? She would literally crumble under pressure. The scandal!
  18. OMG bahahahahaha I wonder if there's a slim chance of an Oscars performance.
  19. So good seeing her looking GLAMOROUS, famous, dangerous, notorious and crazy. I love how she looked in The Greatest too but I hope she will eventually revisit this aesthetic. The more I listen to the song the happier I am that she is only featured in the bridge (essentially the climax of the song). She descends, destroys it and then leaves them to pick up the pieces. Ughhhh (emoticon clawing the ground that I can't get on mobile).
  20. Omg I could not stop smiling every time Lana was on screen. She steals the show!!
  21. People dragging her for referring to the lyrics. Here are some other photos of people reading lyrics on the show.
  22. I feel like we need a topic to discuss this . . . awkward news development. Wrap-up from Know Your Meme. Essentially during the 3 September livestream, a comment asked if Lana was a furry. Lana off-handedly said "No, I'm not a furry - you guys are gross". Thus the ~war~ has begun, with furries basically just talking shit about Lana. A bunch of news outlets have written about it: https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2019/09/06/lana-del-rey-furries-gross-livestream-norman-rockwell/ https://www.qxmagazine.com/2019/09/lana-del-rey-dubs-furries-gross/ https://dailycaller.com/2019/09/05/lana-del-rey-not-a-furry/ Just thought it might be useful to have a topic to discuss should we need to discuss this hairy situation any further.
  23. okay I feel dumb for asking but . . . what's the deal with all this Chinatown themed merch? 'China Girl' outtake subliminally confirmed.
