The album is getting better and better with each listen.   Definitely a grower

Don't get it unless you like your booklets like this. I'm upset and feel tempted to buy another copy at a different store. I hate fold-up booklets. I also can't hang the poster up without ruining the booklet now too.

It's so refreshing to not hear about daddy issues, pale moonlight, her red dress, abusive relationships, dependency, and for Lana to be more concerned about the world and other people rather than just her own world. Her song topics have matured greatly this album.

I don't know why, but the cussing on Cherry is somewhat comical to me.

So, just finished listening to it for the first time. 13 Beaches immediately stood out. It's seriously incredible. Best song on the record for me. White Mustang and Heroin also stood out to me. Summer Bummer and Groupie Love (the chorus is hypnotizing) sounded better with the rest of the album. I can honestly say this album doesn't sound like any other album or music I've ever heard. It's very different, even for Lana. I'm not sure how I'm feeling about it as a whole, and I think it'll take some more listens to fully grasp it. Right now, I can't see this album being something I regularly listen to, as it's not my usual music style/taste, but more something I listen to if I'm in the right mood for it and bc it's Lana, but maybe that'll change as I get to know it more. I like that she changed things up and that it isn't so dark and heavy as her past albums. I wouldn't say it's light, but it's just not super depressing.

In my bed, with the lights off and my eyes closed, using my audiophile headphones, listening in pure 320kbps bliss

for my second listen, i'll probably go for a drive at sunset/dusk with the windows down and it blasting

This is really interesting. I had heard live versions, but hadn't seen video, and the way she physically and demonstratively stops herself from singing that line really shows where her emotions are at. The most compelling thing about her lyrics is that there's no sense of hindsight in them - she sings through the events as though she's experiencing them right that moment for the first time - and one of the risks of that is dealing with something that she hasn't fully worked through yet. I think in a few years, she might be able to sing that line again, from a different perspective.

How do we know what's the truth though? It's so hard for me to figure her out when she seems to tell conflicting things. In an interview a few months ago, she basically admitted to playing a persona for BTD, but now she's saying that all of it has been who she really is. First, Ultraviolence was part of her imaginary side, but now it's completely true to her. I just can't figure her out and what's the truth and what's not.
