  1. i hear something like: ??? chevrolet (?) all the time that i play ??? ??? mileage (?) i can wait for you can't you wait at my gate you know it'd be ? if i just told you to come through i tried googling some of the parts i'm sure of and i don't get any lyrics that match, so i don't think it's a cover. maybe a snippet of a new song? or an intro she wrote for WM? idk.
  2. Palm Dreams is e v e r y t h i n g.
  3. for me the problem arises not so much from Lana reusing her usual themes & motifs and kinda sticking to her own visual universe - which she def does, and that's one of the main reasons why i always go back to her music bc they also speak to me - but more from when she does it in an uninspired way that doesn't really bring anything new. White Mustang is kinda the prime example of that for me, even if it's melodically perf. Heroin, on the other hand, reuses a lot of the old themes & visuals (cults, LA decadence, drugs, alcohol, lolita imagery) but in a way that's fresh and with a depth most of her songs don't have lbr, so i'm not surprised she calls it her most personal song yet.
  4. it's hard for me to say bc it's kind of a mixed bag. Heroin is probably the best song she's written so far, lyrics-wise. i love how bold and unrestrained In My Feelings is, and Cherry's lyrics have a super vivid imagery that i like a lot. those are the 3 standouts for me. then there's frankly uninspired stuff like White Mustang (much as i like the song itself), and others that have interesting parts (like some parts of Lust For Life, 13 Beaches, When The World...) but can't keep the same level all throughout the song.
  5. Honeymoon 34 God Knows I Tried 25 Salvatore 31 The Blackest Day 41
  6. Lana is an introspective singer, always has been. the woman lives inside her own head, so it's unsurprising and pretty natural to me that her version of political songs is her impression/feelings re: current events in song form rather than literal political activism or critique. i've said this even before the album came out, but it would've appeared artificial and forced if she'd pulled a bob dylan out of nowhere - not to mention that i don't think her political ideology has enough internal coherence and solidity to pull off an entire album without fucking up and being subsequently torn apart by the press once again (especially bearing in mind that, like you pointed out yourself, she's a white woman & one from a privileged background). i also think this mix of subjectivity, visual imagery & light political allusions is infinitely more interesting and original than yet another sermonizing album, but maybe that's me.
  7. https://nicoledollanganger.bandcamp.com/ 5 new songs !!!
  8. omg. was this song ever made available again / does anyone here have it? i need it for obvious reasons
  9. i only discovered her music like a month ago and omfg, i'm obsessed. she's like a lizzy grant sirens x aka hybrid, but even darker & more fucked up? her aesthetic is also on point, and she looks amazing with the short blonde hair!
  10. yeah i do. do you own a balaclava / ski mask?
  11. no such thing in Brazil, by law all beaches are public. it's the same in my country & i (and a lot of other ppl) would literally riot if anyone ever tried to change that, lol.
  12. the voidz new album 'virtue', which leaked last night
  13. omg YES, the aesthetics in that season are for sure my fave from the entire show. i loved how dark, sordid & decadent the whole thing was, but at the same time really glamorous and just full of excess. oh and the soundtrack is FABULOUS - and when i say that, i mean that it had moments like this one: https://vimeo.com/149678205 i was kinda surprised people didn't like the storyline tbh; i know it's messy and convoluted (tho not necessarily in a bad way imo), but it was such a fresh take on the whole ~haunted house with stuck spirits~ trope. idk, i really loved it. if there's a season i wish i could watch all over again for the 1st time, it's def Hotel. but yeah, i think your last sentence is spot on re: why it's divisive!
  14. i'm all for personal, creative interpretations of songs, but... what the fresh fuck, lmao.
  15. sure hope Radioactive is a working title bc 1. it automatically reminds me of that godawful song & 2. the dystopian post nuclear war future kinda thing is done to death. also we don't need freak show v2.0 : radiation mutations edition, tbh. also, justice for AHS Hotel! it's prob my fave season (tho Murder House, Coven & Cult are all high up there).
  16. ifkr. i'm so bitter about it. i knew it was highly unlikely it would ever get best film since it was between shape of water & 3bb, but i really hoped greta would get best director. also, daniel day lewis was r o b b e d.
  17. edit: damn it lmao marry marina, fuck bruce, kill harvey liv tyler, angelina jolie, winona ryder
  18. frank ocean. dude is supposedly sitting on an already finished album for a while now.
  19. hopefully it's not about Sylvia & Ted's "love story"... bc she's gonna get A LOT of shit if it is & bc i like to think she's way past that
  20. this photoshoot is SO bad, they really did her dirty in make-up & post... idk. don't get me wrong, something about it also bothers me, that they somehow equate a clearly mentally ill person to a simple fan, but at the same time i feel like the "cult-like" description is pretty accurate. overall we're a pretty obsessive bunch, and she's been hacked, stalked & investigated by sleuths on a regular basis since the very beginning. i'm not saying we all fit those descriptions, but none of those things happen in a vacuum so i feel like there's some sort of larger truth to the "cult" thing. which is ironic in an oddly fitting way, since lana herself seems to be obsessed with cults.

    Frank Ocean

omg i didn't even know we had a frank thread, wth! i love his music sfm. watching him perform live this summer was probably the best concert experience of my life, i get goosebumps just thinking about it. also, unpopular opinion or not, idk, but imo blond/e is even better than channel orange; both are incredible but blond/e is a m a s t e r p i e c e. and i'm not a fan of moon river, but his cover is just fabulous! everything this man touches turns to gold, i s2g.
  22. i wouldn't go quite that far lol, but ia that she looks really... off. what's been bugging me the most is her mouth, like has it always looked like that?
  23. it's better than the 1st one imo, both mc songs i included in my post are from it
  24. iceage are a danish post-punk band from copenhagen lead by elias rønnenfelt (who is incidentally also sky ferreira's current boo) AKA my fave band. marching church is elias' side project, in the same vein & just as good. iceage released a new song & video today (it's_been_84_years.gif) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdRnQ3tHy1o other songs worth checking out : iceage marching church
