LDA is great. my fave song so far is One Thing Left To Try. also, i prefer Congratulations over Oracular Spectacular, imo it's legit an underrated masterpiece. OS has great moments, especially Weekend Wars & the 2nd half of the album, but the 1st half is a bit more generic and songs like Kids, Time To Pretend & Electric Feel got grating after a while. Congratulations is solid from beginning to end.

lmao why wouldn't she be? ppl are so entitled, like how dare he let the illusion crumble & not carefully curate their gay fantasy during promos? and i don't even need to see these comments to know they'll be rationalizing the whole thing via discourse, lol. this being said, he really should learn to stfu in social media.

i'm d e a d, literally typing this from the afterlife can't believe that boring whiny leprechaun won best vocal pop over lust for life, the grammys are truly a sham

Radiohead Sues Lana for Copyright Infringement on "Get Free"
bummersummer replied to reputation's topic in Latest News
there's only so many chord progressions and repetition is naturally bound to happen - it's happened many times in the past and will obviously continue to in the future. similar chord progression in 2 songs does not plagiarism make, especially when both songs in question are fundamentally different in every other way. this is simply the result of Thom Yorke being the self-important wanker he's always been, but then again that's hardly news. and that's excluding the fact that Radiohead aren't exactly innocent in the "borrowing heavily from other artists" department, like someone already pointed out they did it with The Hollies for Creep & The Beatles' Sexy Sadie for Karma Police.- 553 replies

you're not wrong tbh. it's overproduced & i hate the baroque sound they went for, most songs sound too same-y (the only truly memorable one is gods & monsters imo), and it includes the borefest that's bel air & that terrible re-recording of yayo. yeah, i'm not a fan lol.

eh. the film is visually gorgeous, the soundtrack is fab & that dialogue scene between Elio and his father was really moving and imo the best in the whole film, but as the credits rolled my 1st thought was "so... this was it?". the editing is choppy and some of the choices were downright bizarre and kinda messed up the pace & flow of the whole thing, no wonder ACE didn't even grace it with a nom lol; i think the editing is the main reason why there was kind of a disconnect between Elio's pining and Oliver's reciprocity, unlike in the book their getting together seems out of nowhere here since you wonder what exactly lead Elio to think Oliver would be interested. and that kinda ruined the coherence of the plotline for me. anyway, it's a good film but i legit think it's massively overhyped & def not the perfect masterpiece that's made out to be.

bless. it was always p obvious it was calciatore to me, but it's nice to be proven right lmao anyway, this song grew on me. it has a certain kitsch factor that i wasn't really a fan of at first & bc of that it used to be one of my least fave songs from HM, but now i like it.

Gemini Feed. i love Trainwreck, Judas & Poltergeist A LOT too, but GF is the most original/unique song in the whole album imo.

okay, but is it a collab with Elias?

Gucci Project With Jared Leto & Alessandro Michele

the fact that you were 15 and enjoying 25yo dick/pussy/both is great, but concerns only you. the 15yolds who felt used and taken advantage of - or downright assaulted/raped - quite clearly feel differently. age of consent laws were created for a reason, and that's obviously to protect the latter. bringing up subjective, personal experience into a societal matter is either disingenuous or just plain dumb. -

literally nothing to do with lana, he's just a shit person. sexually assaulted several underage girls, is a transphobe, treats his co-workers like shit bc ~method acting, etc.- 110 replies

throwback to the time when i talked to a pretty hardcore manson fan (who'd mailed him in jail and everything) here in our very own lb, when i was called something other than bummersummer. that was... a trip. so ironic to me that manson died in the year in which cults seem to be making a resurgence in media/pop culture & even irl (hillsong). the upcoming tarantino film abt the era & murders is gonna be a hot mess but i'm def still gonna illegally see it.

i know, and that is what i blame her for. people continuously harass her abt it and she's clearly not strong enough to say 'fuck you all, it comes out when it does' so she def helped create this mess for herself. this being said, i don't doubt her mental health issues at all, she seems fragile and insecure af and imo that's the main reason why she's always making excuses. but yeah, fan entitlement is one helluva drug and i def don't envy her position rn, lol.
-
i really don't get all the hostility tbh. as long as she's not scamming anyone (like pulling a gofundme on her fans), who tf cares when or if she releases new music - i mean, sure, i'd like another album and i'd like that preferably right now, but then again she doesn't owe me shit. i'd legit lose it if i had random people demanding me shit on the reg lmao, she should be a lot blunter and less polite than she is instead of making excuses (and apparently bullshit ones, no less) that clearly only make things worse for her.
-
so i guess she's still with Elias, hm. major upgrade from that wanker ZCS, but quite frankly Elias can do better (and i like Sky). i wonder if they'll ever collab.
-
man, i truly hope not. the petra collins tumblr aesthetic is sf tired and unoriginal, and after the pointless hot mess that was selena's fetish mv i'm certain that lana is capable of way better than that. not to mention that imo that whole aesthetic is too twee adolescence & virgin suicides-y to fit lana.
-
now THAT i'd buy.
-
it really is completely unremarkable, damn. even the cherry design is unoriginal and bland, p sure i've already seen the exact same one at h&m or pull&bear. the only good thing about it is the fact that it's embroidered, but i still wouldn't pay for something as nondescript as that.

imo she references heroin literally from a visual, mood-setting pov, but mostly as a metaphor for her own fame, the love/hate relationship she has with it & the people she lost bc of it. most of the song reflects the duality of wanting to leave something but not being able to resist it, or how the very thing that makes her feel good also ruins her life. these verses are the most telling imo: Life rocked me like Mötley Grabbed me by the ribbons in my hair I'm flyin' to the moon again, dreamin' about heroin How it gave you everything and took your life away I want to leave, I'll probably stay another year It's hard to leave when absolutely nothin's clear the aeroplane is both a word play on getting high ("Taking all my medicine to take my thoughts away I'm getting on that aeroplane") & possibly a reference to someone close to her who didn't like the invasion of privacy and scrutiny that fame brought along and decided to reject it, leaving her in the process as well, and also how isolating fame can be ("I put you on the aeroplane, destined for a foreign land I thought that you'd come back again", "all my friends have gone") she uses the Manson allusions as the backdrop to all this bc she loves her dark pop culture & culty stuff (stars, they're just like us!), but the interesting thing is that she seems to sing about it from multiple povs: that of the victims ("Oh, writin' in blood on my walls and shit", which references both the Manson murderers famously writing in blood on their victims' walls & possibly her own home invasion and stalker problem as yet another downside of fame - "I'd be lyin' if I said I wasn't sick of it"), that of panicked Hollywood elite back in 69 who thought Manson was coming for them ("Topanga's hot today, Manson's in the air And all my friends have gone, 'cause they still feel him here") & that of a Manson follower ("Somethin' 'bout the city Don't know what it is, it makes my head get crazy", this after mentioning "Somethin' 'bout this sun has made these kids get scary" in the previous bridge just before the bloody walls part, which clearly referenced The Family). imo Manson himself is just as much a metaphor for the irresistible allure vs destructiveness of fame as heroin is. this song really shows how much she's evolved as a songwriter.
