I think my biggest hope for LDR5 is that it's a fun record. I haven't felt a lot of whimsy or fun in Lana's work since BtD, honestly, which is okay-- Paradise, UV, and HM are all very rich, beautiful, but pretty serious albums, whereas Born to Die had a lot of playfulness and flirtatiousness that made it very exciting, even in tracks like NA and Blue Jeans. So did AKA, and a lot of the unreleased. I'm not saying she needs to put out a purely pop, dance-y record, but I would like a return to some excitement and attitude in her sound, which seems like the direction LDR5 could be going in, judging by certain *winks* and some of her insta vids.

After all she just delivered some of her most sexual lyrics in the one minute and 55 second masterpiece that is Stargirl. I do feel like she still has a large amount of spark in her and I hope she's exploring around with her lyrics again now that she seems to have more muse than she did with Honeymoon. I also do feel like Abel is really helping her loosen up more. And she is determined to make up for last era... 

Listen to Joanna Newsom and come back. And I could probably say at least another 10  songwriters from new generation better than Swift. 

This totally, I feel like Honeymoon was an album for herself, though not so /personal/ per se - I mean, it had stories of the hardships of her fame, but then diverged into the abstract storytelling from Religion - Swan Song
 
It was almost like she created this album to separate herself from the intensely emotional UV era, and distance herself from the darkness and controversy associated with it
 
This next album is jumping off from the peace of Honeymoon, so there is more room/headspace to build on something new and interesting, if that makes sense? Almost like she had a solid foundation, unlike with UV

I don't think I would like to see the music video before anyone else (like some people have). I think part of the fun of watching it is it's new for everyone. It's like we are all sharing this moment together. I feel bad for those who seen it already.

The point of this thread is to share info and discuss, as long as the info did not originate illegally. If a title was accidentally legally registered early, discuss. If Lana speaks about something, discuss. If Chuck seems like she's listening to a possible new Lana song in her instagram story, discuss! BUT, if the song, which at this point is illegally stolen property, is given to you, do not discuss. Do not tease, do not flaunt, do not act "exclusive." Please keep it to yourself. ugh i love the time before the era starts. having no idea what to expect and then bam: ya get a snippet or a single announcement and you're shocked at the artwork and the sound of the music. just taking some time to appreciate lana and her artistry because unlike a lot of other artists her albums are always so diverse.

The word that always pops into my head when I think of what I'd like from future LDR music is 'muscular'. Like, a little more backbone, a bit more assertive, possibly even angry, sarcastic or ironic. Or even just more playful and wry? I adore all of her albums and unreleased, but we all know she can be a bit more sassy and confrontational when she chooses to be. Following HM with a harder-hitting sound would be such a good move IMO, and give her more material for festivals (at the very least).
 
I dunno, she should do what she damn well pleases but a boy can dream...
