I think at her core from way back then, its seems like Lana has always been one to seek out places of peace and refuge. Even if they were temporary. Which is why she seemed to move around a lot. From alcohol to multiple relationships. And like anyone who can relate, usually the cause of this restlessness links itself back to people's home life. & How they grew up. I mean she mentioned the fact that when Video Games started picking up, she hadnt seen or heard from her father in 6 years. Plus when you add up her parents sending her off to boarding school, it starts to make sense. Aside from other personal things. & So when you couple that with the criticism she receives from one of the places shes seeking acceptance the most, i can see why she would feel the way she does. But her love for music and fans is what keeps her doing music. The moment shes able to receive closure and peace from things shes dealt with back then, then i can see her truly being a peace a little more.

I just hope she'll find some peace again soon and figures out the right path for her to be happy. But I don't really know why some of you are totally surprised like this girl is singing about running towards gates and how 'cheap thrills' get her closer to death etc. I guess she truly believes in life after death and she's just longing for paradise. You know she says she lived a long life, she has no ambition to go on.. I really hope she and Barrie aren't toxic for each other, they may have huge empathy for their partner, but maybe they drag each other down sometimes. But yeah I see the fact she's mentioning this in an interview is worrying, hope she battles through it until she'll find some sort of balance again "living with my sadness" as she would put it.

this song was just eh at first but I really like it.
I think it's also totally reminiscent of Strange Love, sonically and lyrically. talking about her motorcycle love

She's talking with them about how she wanted/wants to kill herself because of the critics and journalists and then this irrational rating/review?!

Yeah I thought that as well, like she's just saying oh well I wouldn't mind being dead there's nothing I want any more. But okay I'm alive so Imma roll with it, try to have fun in the meantime But I don't know I do think she has always fantasized about suicide and death, we just don't know how intense or serious the sitaution is.

So The Guardian spends the whole review tearing her lyrics and general existence down, barely talking about the songs themselves, only to give her a 4/5? "lol you suck but this album is the shit"?

Very confused about "took you back to Detroit" in terms of Lanalysis. Heavy metal loves would be Jimmy Gnecco and Arthur Lynn, right? Jimmy's from Jersey and Arthur's from Greenwich...

MahaMaha liked a post in a topic by larina in SINGERS/NON-SINGERS: Have you ever successfully sang a Lana Del Rey song?
Well, I'm singing Million Dollar Man for a show my singing school is putting on. I recorded this about a month or two ago so it's not exactly updated.
https://soundcloud.com/prismparadise/ldr-mdm-by-gab
As for the questionaire...
Do you find it hard to duplicate her sound or easier?
Well, it is quite difficult to sound an exact replica of her voice for I am only thirteen and my voice sounds too immature and I can't reach those low notes yet. We actually had to bring the backing track up higher two tones.
What type of sound do you think Lana Del Rey has?
As in her voice? Oh, I'm not good in describing sounds. Her voice definitely suits her released songs' genre, I can say that. And if I must describe it, I'd say a very relaxing and angelic tone. In her low tones and her high ones. Even in her more upbeat unreleased songs.
I always thought she was more ''Hollywood Sadcore'' and or ''Alternative''.
You think Indie rock?
To be honest, don't know what either of them are. I'm so amateur
In Lana's released music, you mean? I'd honestly classify it as R&B, Jazz, Blues and Cabaret.
Describe your vocal range, how would you say it sounds?
Do you mean my vocal tone? I'd say it's very pitchy . But friends say my tone sounds like Lana. I don't think so, but even my singing teacher's mother (my actual teacher was sick so I had her mum for that day) said it sounds similar to Lana's. I don't think so one bit!
List your actual vocal range
Well, lucky for you, I had a vocal range test two weeks ago. I will just need to get my book...
Lowest Note: F | Highest Note: B | 19 notes
It does not state which notes they are. Hang on, I had another test in February and it states that I have increased my range by five notes since then - one higher and four lower (I believe it is because I have been singing to a lot of Lana's songs )
That one says...
Lowest Note: A4 | Highest Note: B♭6
So I haven't really made much of an achievement but at least I've answered the question.

Those lyrics this is the Lana I fell in love with. Also love how she praises her mama and putting her mind over her beauty, such positive vibes tbh.

L4N4 liked a post in a topic by MahaMaha in Lana's alleged sect/cult past
Okay guys, think hard now! There was some sort of blog entry (myspace?) in which she was talking about some sort of science it was like an appeal to the reader about some hidden truth or whatever and then she posted a link to a weird page, I can't really remember and I also can't seem to find it any more! Maybe that was the sect? Somebody out there knowing what the hell I'm talking about?
