Why are people speculating that Swan Song is her saying she is quitting music? I mean, she put Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood after it, which in a way contradicts a Swan Song. Now if their placement was switched I think the message would be switched also.

I feel like a lot of the criticism of this video has been pretty limited to the hardcore rabid fans, to be honest. It's gotten a pretty good reception from everywhere else.
 
There's something to be said for good camera work, a unique concept, and creativity over budget. That's why Lana is so consistent on the video front. Each video has been pretty different from the last. You guys are going to have to deal with the fact that she's not going to make a Ride 2.0 or a Born To Die right out the gate every single time. Been there, done that.
 
It's a great video, but if you were hoping for some daddy-issues/sad bottoms anthem type of visual then you're probably going to be very disappointed with her videography from here on out.

Does anyone else hear "Dope and diamonds, that's all that I am" in the bridge?
 
In fact, if the official lyrics weren't transcribed on the last page, I'd be 100% sure that's what she says.

I was at the same show, but I arrived after the doors opened (I had to work before the concert). As soon as I walked into the theater, the security guy was on stage talking about how concerned he was re: people passing out & not moving in the crowd.

While I would normally do my best to get as close as possible (while respecting the other attendees around me), I glanced around at the audience & decided to just stand back by the sound area instead. The crowd was pretty nauseating -- there were a few teenage girls taking selfies in the middle of Lana's set, a few other teenage girls were basically twerking & dancing on each other when 'Ride' was being performed, etc.
 
I had a nice time because Lana was much better live than I expected her to be, the band was wonderful, & Lana seemed sweet as usual, with plenty of kind words for Seattle. That said, I don't think I'll be going to see her live again if her concert demographic remains the same.
 
I'm a 23 y/o guy, too, just for context, but I was sad to find out that the horror stories regarding Lana's audiences at her concerts were true. A bunch of really obnoxious, mean, & self-absorbed Tumblr-lite teenagers who seem to suck any meaning or depth out of Lana's music & performance. I secretly hope Lana loses them with 'Ultraviolence'... 

The "West Coast" lyrics were prophetic

James Franco and Jared Leto are one of the biggest creeps in Hollywood who hit on every girl so I don't really want Lana to date somebody like them...
At this point it seems to me that it would be best if she was single for some time and focused on herself (:

If Lindsay is reviewing it, Lana will be lucky to get anything over 4. But we all know that Pitchfork is going to give her a bad score no matter what, so why even bother about it?
 
It's just interesting how male rappers can make racist, homophobic, sexist or any other remark and get free pass for it. They can rap/sing about the most absurd and ridiculous things and barely ever catch flack for it. 
Lana's music can be good as theirs, but she won't get away with it like they do. 
 
And this oh she's inauthentic, she has stage persona bullshit is still the most ridiculous criticism here. Who is really authentic and genuine? Who doesn't have a stage persona? I understand why some may find Lana's act to be a bit over the top, but come on. When Video Games first came out in 2011, press acted like she was the first musician ever who developed new stage persona and new name.
