Sure! I just remember reading a couple of articles/reviews of 'West Coast' (or in certain cases 'Ultraviolence') back in April of 2014 (and subsequently June of 2014) drawing comparisons between Lana's song and Stevie's; the "ooh baby, ooh baby" 1, 2, there was also a French Canadian article (in 'La Presse') that mentioned that comparison as well, but I can't seem to find it. Also mentioning that the guitar riff sounded similar to the one at the beginning the Beatles' song 'And I Love Her'. Or that the siren that comes in during the last part of the song sounded similar to the one found in both 'Kill Bill' movies soundtracks. Not sure if all of those were intentional on Lana and Dan's part, but I like to think they were. I find that they add even more layers to the song. 'West Coast' is a masterpiece of a song!

Also, where have you guys been? People have been drawing comparisons between 'West Coast' and 'Edge of Seventeen' (as well as 'And I Love Her' and 'Kill Bill') since like 2014. 'West Coast' is that song.

Listening to 'West Coast' makes me realize how grand Lana was during her first three albums. There was so much intensity back then. I honestly hope she has more of that in store.

In no specific order, some of these are classics, others song that are just kinda underrated/less known. Astro Zombies - The Misfits I don't listen to a whole lot of punk music, but this one is pretty good. Lady - Supertramp A lesser known Supertramp song that I really love. I Heard Ramona Sing - Frank Black Probably my favourite song on that soundtrack. Chateau Lobby #4 (in C for Two Virgins) - Father John Misty If there's a Father John Misty you should check out, this is the one I think. Come Find Me - Emile Haynie (feat. Lykke Li, Romy) Otherworldly collab between King Emile, Lykke Li and Romy (from The xx) from the same album that featured 'Wait For Life. Debout - Ariane Moffatt That, ladies and gentlemen, is my turn up song! Dream Weaver - Gary Wright My dad introduced us to this song. You Make Loving Fun - Fleetwood Mac Along with 'Rhiannon', 'Gypsy' and 'Little Lies' this is my favourite Fleetwood Mac song. Black Magic Woman - Fleetwood Mac Fun fact, this is the original version of the Santana classic. I Wish I Was The Moon - Neko Case A song that never fails to make me cry. Paint Me Silver - Pond Pretty good song from a band that's heavily involved with Australian legend Tame Impala. Faraway Look - Yola Great song from an immensely talented artist. It's also King Dan Auerbach's latest production gig! Bad Magic - Weyes Blood My favourite Weyes Blood song.

This is chaotic AF. But I'm in for the chop. Her hair looked amazing shorter, wavier and beach-y during the UV era.

The top comment is legit "omg the first non-Karen thing she's done" do they realize that her question for the culture or like wearing that mesh mask in public do not really define her character? Like yeah she has been acting less than smart, but like some people need to put that fighting energy onto other things and move along.

this was clearly recorded a while back

Funnily enough I have a friend at work that kept making dick appointments all the way through quarantine (while we we're not supposed to be over at other people's house under no circumstances) and I did end up telling her "you know, I totally get that you have sexual needs and while that's valid, you're kinda taking a risk and also exposing other people at work".
-
People are either "toxically positive" about her actions and whereabouts, or they just believe that she is intrinsically problematic and reckless. No in-between weirdly enough. I have learned my lesson, as much as I think that she's being dumb in public, or even from the comfort of her own car, I have let go of the urge to cover Lana's antics for my own sanity. The girl is obviously never going to change, if anything, it's getting worse. Also, it's quite fascinating to me how these endless missives from every party involve often deviate the conversation and start being about her body/outward appearance?? Or somehow correlate the topic at hand to the fact that she dated a cop all through last year and then some??? Make it make sense LanaBoards.
-
Well that's twitter for ya, I don't really care about those assumptions, as I think she's none of those things; she's just being dumb. The question for the culture episode really was where things started going downhill, it just never really stopped from that point forward.

these pictures have been out since like 2012, people even thought Chuck was Jennifer Lawrence at first
-
I don't think she's dislikable at all. I think she's just dumb, which makes it hard to put up with her.

'Sad Girl' will forever be one of her most underrated songs. This song has so much bravado and I live for its bluesy atmosphere. I've said it on another thread on here before, but had it not been for 'Pretty When You Cry', I think that this moment would've been the album's climax. Most definitely her most intense bridge!

This is completely unrelated to the poetic content of the book, since I haven't had time to delve into it just yet. However, from an aesthetic standpoint the whole thing is really beautiful. I love the images, the costum oil paintings as well as Lana's photos in it. I wasn't sure about how I felt with the cover/sleeve of the book, but I now really like the oranges painting and golden letters. Also, might sound weird, but I like the paper they chose for the book, it's kinda thick but it has this sort of newspaper feel to the touch? It's quite the neat little package. Well done Lana. The only thing I don't particularly like is the selfie at the back, but it's whatever.

she really is isn't she

I don't know about her releasing material under her birth name. But I most definitely think that she should've released all the 'Violet' related material all at once, because right now it feels like there are two different eras/projects happening all at once. We have little to no information about one project and then some breadcrumbs about the other, it doesn't feel separate and clear like the other artists that are also releasing poetry. It's very non-sensical and confusing from a business and artistic point of view. Such a mess.
