  1. the truth is that everything gets inevitably delayed with Miss Del Rey.
  2. Not to sound pretentious or delusional, but in my view, BTD is legit one of the, if not the most influential pop album of the 2010s. It got done dirty by the media, but it still had a strong, longlasting impact on the music scene.
  3. That list was a choice, makes sense they chose NFR over Born To Die, Ultraviolence and/or Honeymoon. Since it's her most palatable/digestible and least "controversial" album. I'm happy she got acknowledged for something though.
  4. RIGHT? I'd die for something halfway between 'Ride' and like 'West Coast' sonically.
  5. 1. Dan Auerbach 2. Rick Nowels 3. Rick Ruben 4. Emile Haynie
  6. Happy birthday to this truly special album. The cinematic album with the best bridges. Looking back this has really me thinking this was her peak. A moment in time.
  7. The entirety of 'Honeymoon'. Oh blessed day.
  8. Yeah I love how she made it her own thing, that's how covers should be imho! Yeah, same. I'm not that into Trixie's music (it's just not really my style) but I like her covers are great tbh, this one is not exception! Also, agree about the instrumentation, it's really beautiful.
  9. American drag performer Trixie Mattel has just released a cover of 'Video Games'. True to her style, she released a country and folk influenced rendition of Lana's debut single. Listen below!
  10. Off the top of my head: Off To The Races, Ride, West Coast, Shades of Cool, Brooklyn Baby, Terrence Loves You, The Blackest Day, Heroin, Get Free, Venice Bitch.
  11. Question for the culture ages do people really view 'California' as like this superior/career defining Lana song? Like really?
  12. Why is 'Sad Girl' so slept on? It's legit one of the best songs on 'Ultraviolence'. I know some stans complain about its "repetitiveness", but I honestly don't care, it has so much bravado in its melodies, the whole thing has so much fire and intensity. I venture to say that had 'Pretty When You Cry' not existed (and that guitar solo) the bridge in 'Sad Girl' would've been the climax of that whole album. Sorry, I just get really passionate about 'Sad Girl'.
  13. there were already too many piano ballads/driven songs on that album anyway, one more wouldn't have made that much of a difference quite honestly.
  14. '13 Beaches' does nothing for me and 'Get Free' has to be the best song on 'Lust for Life'.
  15. I have a thing for French musicals. 'Notre Dame de Paris' is honestly iconic. It's the adaptation of the famous novel 'The Hunchback of Notre-Dame' by Victor Hugo. I was pretty young when the musical came out, but I remember my parents playing the soundtrack often. The whole thing might look a little outdated nowadays, but I think the performances are still pretty solid! Oh, memories.
  16. She's so beautiful, but she's such a reckless driver omfg. Who tf drives like that. ?
  17. That is indeed true! I think she also said that the song was about an Harvey Winston type of character, who was actually a famed American jeweler. Which would kind of make sense with the "in the sky with diamonds and he's making me crazy". But I think the origins to 'Cola' and her so called relationship with Harvey Weinstein is a bit shady.
  18. for real all the official lyrics I've seen it's all clearly written "Ah he's in the sky" so there's that I guess
  19. This is probably my favourite quote ever. It's from 'Les Fleurs du mal' (The Flowers of evil) by famed French poet Charles Baudelaire. Probably his most revered work. It's from the poem called 'Le voyage' (The journey). Mais les vrais voyageurs sont ceux-là seuls qui partent Pour partir, coeurs légers, semblables aux ballons, De leur fatalité jamais ils ne s'écartent, Et, sans savoir pourquoi, disent toujours : Allons ! However true adventurers are those that leave To leave, lighthearted, like balloons From their fatalities they never stray away And, not knowing why, they always say: Go ! I don't know if my traduction renders justice to the original version. But, this poem and most particularly this excerpt, just evokes the sentiment that real adventurers are fearless, bold and they're always ready to go onto the next big thing. Always eager and awaiting adventures. I don't know why, but I've always found that particular poem to be beautiful and cheerful.
  20. "So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."
