Actually it's quite the opposite... most acclaimed albums nowadays are music that goes against the mainstream and don't really appeal to the GP. I think the last "acclaimed" album that sold well was Lemonade by Beyoncé and thats because she's Beyoncé

That booklet and those long ass credits are... a choice.

Honestly I'm kind of over these random images with like short excerpts of lyrics, I want the entire thing written on each f*cking pages.

This looks so DIY, Chuck wtf

The CD is literally the album cover. Graphic design is Chuck's passion

I happen to completely agree with him but I wish people would stop caring about critics' opinions so much. Not referring to you, just a general statement. Some opinionated asshole who has ridiculed your favorite artist(s) for years & repeatedly trashed albums you love decides they like ONE thing you happen to like too....so suddenly they're an expert whose words are gospel & opinions matter more than anything, and more than anyone else's? You either care or you don't. I'm not going to rejoice that the absolute fuckwit who gave Ultraviolence 2/10 took a break from being tasteless and found himself liking two great songs. Personally, I don't see why we should give these people value.

Asking if something happened on Lana Boards is like asking if it rains every day in the Sahara.

I think so far my favorite track is probably The greatest, it's really just that: a great song. My least favorite would probably be FIILY, idk I just don't like the chorus and the way she sings it, and also I don't care for the instrumentals, and this is probably my biggest critique for the entire album so far, it just sounds bland. They have that demo-like quality about them, pretty much all the songs lack bass, drum beats (if not electronic beats) to just counterbalance and create a nice atmospheric sound, also the mixing was... a choice (even on The greatest) a lot of track have this soft subdued mixing/production, and it just sound downright flat and dry to me.

Most people will love the album and call it her best just because it's fresh and new, but to me so far it sounds like a good record, but it doesn't measure up to both Ultraviolence and Honeymoon. I can't wait to hear it all in HQ, but so far I'm pretty ambivalent about it all.

Heroin is, by large, a cringefest. She sounds like a dying bird cawing on that bridge. "I'll retire Cola because I mention Harvey Weinstein's first name but here's an edgelord song namedropping the Manson family murders"

Anyway this is the NFR thread. I'm interested to hear the album in good quality in a few days. Hoping that'll help some songs stand out more.

I'm still coming back to the video for Fuck It I Love You, love those surfing scenes. Beautiful, natural and emotional. One of her best videos. Great visuals without her trying to prove anything.

Did I write this? I feel like she just sings like she doesn't care nowadays, doesn't reach high notes even in the studio, her delivery is very subpar/weird to me, like she mumbles and half talks most of the lyrics. Or overuses reverb or tries to drown her voice with the mixing and ultimately sound like a whisper? In other words
