Lana has her famous BTD trilogy, which is supposed to be Video Games, Blue Jeans, and Born to Die, all centering around the same guy (though there are many that would say multiple men are being sung about).
I was wondering if you guys had your own trilogies? One of the great things about Lana's music is that it is relatively consistent in its subjects and themes, leading to easy story creation through linking songs. For me, I only have one that I have really put together as a trilogy, considering them to all be related to each other, seen below. However, I think there are more if I thought about it more which is why I'm asking you guys.   For me: 1. Queen of Disaster https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCeZsWHg7vo   2. Beautiful Player  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjwCODMMOsk   3. Making Out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRQbQN7OiqM   The story: (Part 1) A young Lana finds the man of her dreams while she is unsuccessful, and they share in their misfortunes together. They're King and Queens of the New York scene. (Part 2) Lana then finds out he's a player but she continues to love him anyway as she feels he completes her and accepts her in her faults, and she his, wholly and completely. This relationship continues but as his money improves from his drug dealing, he starts seeing other women even more and Lana realizes that he will never reciprocate her love. (Part 3) This leads to our New York City Queen deciding to start seeing other men on the side, as well. He finds out and tries to win her sole affection and attention back, and she does love him and attempts to continue seeing him. However, she ultimately decides that she's better off relying on the money she makes being with these other men and rejects her beautiful player.

  23. HawaiianTropic liked a post in a topic by SwayTokyo in Which song best represents "Lana Del Rey"
Ride, of course! I think that Video Games is a close second but doesn't come out on top for me because it focuses on someone else.

I am obviously aware that most of Lana's songs are about someone else, and therefore a song whose subject is "the lover" might be the top for some people, I think that that Ride was truly about herself and was an extremely introspective work. I think it examined how she navigated her years leading up to where she was at that point, and broke down her coping mechanisms and ways she dealt with problems.

Monologue of course included in my evaluation.
  24. SwayTokyo liked a post in a topic by TRENCH in Which song best represents "Lana Del Rey"
    Born To Die
    Ride
    Video Games
very basic but these 3 songs wrap up, overall, her little "universe" well
  25. SwayTokyo liked a post in a topic by AngelHeadedHipster in Which song best represents "Lana Del Rey"
I feel RIDE represents Lana the best . The whole message of the song + the monologue represents her soul, her struggle, her success, her downfall, her will to carry on even in the bleakest of times. It's the song that's closest to me as well because it talks about being at war with yourself and since I'm a Gemini it resonates deeply within me. I feel it's an Anthem for Gemini's all over the world written by the Gemini Goddess herself.

/ / I'm tired of feeling like I'm fucking crazy
I'm tired of driving 'til I see stars in my eyes
It's all I've got to keep myself sane baby
    so I just Ride I just Ride / /

Ride is about Lana narrating her life story, about her difficulty to connect with people, a struggle to find people who have a similar thought process akin to her. It's about feeling trapped within yourself and the only way to experience a release from the prison that is your "mind" is by expressing your "self" through Art regardless of how it may appear to others.

Have you always had a dark side, Lana?

Lana Del Rey: When I was younger I felt lonely... In terms of my thought processes. I had the constant feeling that I thought differently to everyone around me. So, I suppose I felt lonely for a home. I didn't know where I wanted to be, but I knew I wasn't there yet. I think that this loneliness set a dark undertone for things to come.
