I hope George barely touched this album. His production feels very flat and one dimensional though not bad… PC producers just know how to capture that super thick sounds from all angles

No I agree entirely- it’s also her worst fashion era- none of it worked to me
The XCX world concept was interesting and would have been ahead of the Y2K trend in 2016- it would have worked in that moment only and it’s a shame the label scrapped it for what it was

i still cannot fathom how she scrapped all the sessions from Jan 2018 - April 2018 which included 1000 Times, Don't Call Me, Next Life, Cigarettes & Alcohol, LA etc. over what we ended up getting on Charli. its such an incohesive project and definitely her weakest.
however, songs like Gone, Silver Cross, Next Level Charli and February 2017 are highlights of the album

couldn’t agree more, I think it’s time everyone admits the original xcx3 would have been much better - I know there was never a final tracklist, but we all know by now it would have most likely featured these songs:
after the afterparty
boys
bounce
can you hear me
die 4
down like wow
girls night out
good girls
I wanna be with you
no angel
queen lizzy
waterfall
and as a whole this group of tracks would have made a much more cohesive/enjoyable/iconic album - I mean the fact 10 of these have sophie involvement is so cool, she probably worked really hard on that album it just sucks the majority of it never came out
also want to add that I wanna be with you is one of the best songs ever made and should be talked about more often

I found peace when I acknowledged self-titled as a playlist rather than an album

Here for this energy solely because I enjoy chaos.
Edit: Actually nah I like Sucker more than Charli and overall agree, BUT, Silver Cross is *that* bitch.
Shh don't say that you'll summon my cracked out mother with her 8 sticks of burning sage and a mouthful of gaslighty, neggy, backhanded compliments.

WRONG!
Charli is her worst ever. Uninspired album filled with rejects and filler scraps, tried to replicate the iconicness of Pop 2 but failing miserably. Ugly ass silver photoshoots that seemed made in 2 minutes the day prior release. Like it all felt dragged out and then super rushed at the end to get the album out. Even the title is boring and lazy, and I think it’s an insult to her name having those songs tied to her self-titled. They really don’t represent her talent and artsy at all.
Does Charli have cute moments and some bops? Of course, but as a whole it’s definitely her worst.
Sucker had a defined concept that was executed flawlessly, also she looked hot through all the era and the photoshoots and the imagery was perfect for it. It’s a shame her label watered down the whole thing, but overall it’s still a fun cute pop rock inspired record! Break The Rules > Shake It/Blame it on your love/Next level Charli

Void deserved a win. Events like these value popularity over arts though, so I knew Toilet Sniff would get it. Barbie World was also much better than Anti-Hero.
Nonetheless I'm proud of Melanie for getting a nomination at a huge event like the VMAs. She's a true artist and visionary! kinda giggling at her not showing up, she really doesn't care!!

The fact majority in here enjoyed the Bob like… I hated since day 1 lol. Her n1a era hair was marvelous and then the transition to pop 2 was bearable but I hated the when the bob came in and it felt like forever… thank G-d her hair style now looks better than ever

charli with her more natural hair rn will forever be looked upon as her best look, the bob was cute but pretty much any of her other hairstyles were cuter

Just listened to Problématique with the new tracklist and honestly, I really like this tracklist, it flows very well. I do think HIFTB and Revelations should've been on it instead of on FTB though. HIFTB felt like such an integral part of the album and Revelations is one of the best songs from those sessions. I guess Revelations does fit the more punchy sound of FTB better than the softer sound of Probématique (even though FTB sounds like a playlist instead of an album skk). Sex Talk and Coconuts not being on it makes the album better tbh, 2 flop songs that brought down the overall quality idc idc. Weird that Future Starts Now isn't on it but I never really cared for that song either so whatever. Treat Me Like a Ho should've gotten the BOOT, kinda a stain on the tracklist (I do like the beat though definitely I thought it was fun). Your Time to Cry should've been on it instead, but I saw smthn about how that song got sold so I guess that wasn't an option. Dance to Forget and Left My Body are cute for the sessions album, they weren't really worthy of a spot on the album. Love that Love Ya Leave Ya is the closer, that song should've been on the standard tracklist from the beginning.
Anyways this post is long as fuck I think I'm just gonna delete Treat Me Like a Ho and put HIFTB, Revelations and YTTC in there and call it a day! A lovely 12 track album.
