Maybe I could save you from your sins (MAC)I think we’ll see some of that as well in other songs from NFR

Y’all need to calm down. She just named the only k-pop group she could think of.

maybe halsey got hold of this info before we all did and thought collabing with them would finally impress her

i've had a think about what it is we're actually waiting on and when you think of it as several songs we've already heard as well as extra minutes of songs we've already heard and no accompanying music videos, most likely no performances..... it really seems like.... nothing.

This thread is 6 months of speculations and frustrations...

no hope at all as it is a dangerous thing

She has to understand that we don't understand why she isn't saying anything, so naturally people are going to speculate and get frustrated. I still think she could just tell us that she'll give us more information when she's ready ... but maybe she really is feeling resentful towards the fanbase and that's why she isn't. I don't know.

Maybe the Miss Daytona "the album is finished but who knows when it'll be out" tweet was less "I don't know because of external factors" and more "I don't know when I want to release it because I feel really insecure about my music rn".

Love this post! Some really interesting points.

My thoughts ... (complete speculation, of course)

They are two very different women, certainly, but I think Hunger is to Florence what Hope is to sis. Hunger recently turned one, and Florence posted about how nervous she was to release it because it was so personal, and that she was so grateful for the reception to it.

Hope was released before I joined this community, but going by the comments here, and by those I've seen on social media, I feel like the reception to it was mixed. Seeing as it's her most personal song (and took 3 years to complete) maybe that reception hurt her more than we realised. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but she posted that Instagram comment replying to the accusations about racial connotations in the song, and seemed to shut herself off from NFR, and to some extent, fans, right after that.

When I translated that article earlier and read that it took her 3 years to complete, straight away my mind went to that poem: "I love you but you don't understand me." It could be about absolutely anything or anyone, and was likely written before Hope was released, but I immediately thought of it. Maybe she felt really misunderstood and hurt, pouring her heart and soul into that song for three fucking years and everyone was all, "Oh my God that selfie is horrible", "Wow "Black narcissist"?!", and "Fuck me, an iPad reference!"

I'm not saying that it's wrong to be critical of those points (and others) ... not at all. I'm just saying ... maybe she really didn't get the reaction she wanted and it upset her more than we realised and/or made her doubt herself and the album - which she has said is very personal. And maybe that's why she's taking a break just to regather herself or whatever.

I know this post sounds really emotional 'n' shit but she has said herself that she is an emotional, sensitive person.

Woah... I can’t believe it took her 3 years to ink the deal w Apple to use the phrase “most famous woman you know from the iPad”

Funny, this is the exact same process I went through with LFL as well. Thought she was this clever, kitschy satirist/performance artist, but then realized that she's been being serious this whole time lmao. Probably why I'm personally not tooo hungry for NFR, because my interest in her is more casual these days. Still makes me sad how soured the NFR project has become, because I was obsessed with MAC after it came out and thought HTD was pretty promising.
Truthfully, I think she's more or less exposing the real Elizabeth Grant to us and shoving it in our faces because she's sick and tired of the obsessive fan fervor that comes with the enigmatic Lana Del Rey persona. Destroy the mystique, stifle the fascination. Probably not going to work on the crazier stans, but whatever

Can't even unironically disagree with this tbh

sorry, that’s not what i meant. i said she doesn’t make statements and shouldn’t anyway because i’ve been disappointed every time she has because she’s either ignorant (Israel) or saying something so late and highly generalized that it’s just something popular to parrot now (Trump, feminism, etc.) again, to be clear, I DONT WANT HER MAKING STATEMENTS. but even if she wasn’t famous or whatever and just a person in the everyday, i would still say the same thing, because i’m allowed to be disappointed in both ignorance and bandwagon-jumping from people in the every day, because i’m a normal person with opinions and judgments about those around me and just because it’s Lana del Rey™️ doesn’t mean i should withhold it. hope that makes more sense.
edit: just re-read what i wrote and i also wanna make it clear that artists can have their opinions on things too, just for the fact that they’re also human beings with conscious thoughts just like me. not trying to be those people going “you’re a singer, keep your mouth shut” that i always see when a celeb has some political opinion. but i just feel like with lana, every time she has, it’s not so much an opinion as much as it is just a statement on something she literally knows nothing about. i’m sure even now she knows nothing about feminism and just likes the ~aesthetic~ of “girl power”, even though that’s not what it’s about at all. i just wish she would either actually look into things for more than 2 seconds or just know that she doesn’t care and not look into it at all. does that make sense? i just hate the whole half-assed feeling of it. but if she does make some pseudo-political track on nfr, i would prob dislike it, but she has all the right in the world to do it. but again, i would just have my own personal opinion on it, which i’m allowed to have.
