clx2 is just so encapsulated by everything it includes, the artwork alone sends you a message in regards to what you’re getting into

Tzuyu is/was my bias. Discovered them right at Cheer Up era I think, went back and listened to Ooh-Ahh a ridiculous amount. Stream I think I'm Crazy from The Story Begins yup yup! I bob in and out of checking out their new eras, usually just hear the lead single and its just so much promo to keep up with! This photoshoot and these 2k15/16 outfits are engraved in my brain

    (Oct. 20, 2015 - present)

(Members from left to right: Nayeon, Dahyun, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Jeongyeon, Chaeyoung, Momo, and Tzuyu)

Twice is a South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment. The group is composed of nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. Twice was formed under the television program Sixteen and debuted on October 20, 2015, with the EP The Story Begins.

Twice rose to domestic fame in 2016 with their single "Cheer Up", which charted at number one on the Gaon Digital Chart, became the best-performing single of the year, and won "Song of the Year" at the Melon Music Awards and Mnet Asian Music Awards. Their next single, "TT", from their third EP Twicecoaster: Lane 1, topped the Gaon charts for four consecutive weeks. The EP was the highest selling Korean girl group album of 2016. Within 19 months after debut, Twice had already sold over 1.2 million units of their four EPs and special album. By the end of 2021, Twice had sold over 7.29 million albums in Korea in 2019. As of December 2020, the group has sold over 10 million albums in South Korea and Japan.

The group debuted in Japan on June 28, 2017, under Warner Music Japan, with the release of a compilation album titled #Twice. The album charted at number 2 on the Oricon Albums Chart with the highest first-week album sales by a K-pop artist in Japan in two years. Twice became the first Korean girl group to earn a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for both an album and CD single in the same year. Twice ranked third in the Top Artist category of Billboard Japan's 2017 Year-end Rankings, and in 2019, they became the first Korean girl group to embark on a Japanese dome tour.

Their first official English-language single, "The Feels", became their first song to enter the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart, peaking at the 83rd and 80th positions of the charts, respectively. They have been dubbed the next "Nation's Girl Group", and their point choreography—including for "Cheer Up" (2016), "TT" (2016), "Signal" (2017), and "What Is Love?" (2018)—became dance crazes and viral memes imitated by many celebrities.

i know the streaming/fanvoting culture is responsible. ppl dont rly want to produce GOOD music anymore bc it doesnt matter if ur the 31st most streamed artist on spotify (bts *cough*) you could sneeze for 3 minutes over a garageband beat and people would call you the second coming of jesus h. christ.

its also more accepted to attempt more experimental type songs these days in kpop than ever before, but the thing is kpop fans dont know the difference between experimental and just plain garbage. they'd probably think sophie's work is bad but love whatever the fuck sticker was. and this is coming from a stray kids fan lmao. (i cant defend their music but i love them as people okay)

plus i'd like to think there is some angle is making ridiculously bad music that goes viral and ends up in people hate-streaming. "swipe" by itzy obviously was made to be a viral tiktok song while (and i dont agree but) a lot of people think that song is horrible.

as for twice, i think their music hasnt declined as much as theyve just changed their image and fans (mostly the male onces) dont really like the more mature concept and that's why theyve declined in popularity in korea specifically. but perfect world was such a serve. and doughnut is one of my fave songs by them.

literally the only group still making decent bops is twice and even they have declined in their korean work (although their japanese work has considerably gotten better everyone stream perfect world)

honestly i feel like as of right now the group has too much emphasis on jinsoul, heejin, chuu, and kim lip rn. they dont give other members as many opportunities to shine in line distribution or cf's or solo endeavors. gowon + vivi are basically given 2.43 lines to share each comeback.

it's counterintuitive because the whole "thing" with them was introducing them one by one pre-debut, and post-debut they're not really sticking with the same emphasis on the individuality. they had such a good concept going and once again a kpop company has succumbed to the usual industry standard of unequal line distribution and unfair treatment of their only foreign member.

i dont blame the girls themselves, im happy chuu especially has been getting a lot of praise and recognition, but there are other members of loona and its annoying to see their company so clearly favor a handful over the others.

the main problem i have with the recent snippets is the songwriting. if she’s gonna make super sexual slutty club music, it would go over so much better if she put some effort into the lyrics instead of shit like “sex me, i’m horny, i’m hornyyy” and “this throat lady gaga, boys say hallelujah, gimme that ya ya ya ya”
yes maybe the lyrics are intended to be mindless and vapid to make the songs more fun but it just comes across as lazy and corny  it’s like they’re written terribly for comedic value but it’s not working whatsoever- they aren’t clever at all and don’t even make any sense. it worsens already boring vocals and instrumentals. i’m trying to remain hopeful but she disappoints me more and more with every new snippet and at this point i have little to no faith in whatever the next project is.

Y'all I am SO sick of whatever the fuck Kim is doing right now with her music. What happened to the spark she had during the neon border phase???? Why won't she put that much passion and creativity into her new music??????? Her three recent TikTok snippets are giving me a headache from how overused and unoriginal they are. "treat me like a slut" "this throat Lady Gaga" GIRL? What happened to the bubbly, adorable, bratty girl from IDWIAA or the vocal power from Heart to Break? Not to mention Coconuts was a complete disaster and I'll never forgive TikTok for blowing that shit up.
Mama needs to get her shit straight and figure out what the hell she's doing but until then I'm gonna judge from a distance
Edit: This sounds TOO picky but someone had to say it. I still love her but y'all can admit something is wrong and she's not putting her best foot forward. She isn't serving the pop princess energy that we all know damn well she's capable of.

she really didnt perform primadonna, a staple of her discography  was this the song she was hinting at retiring from live shows?

also, NNT stage setup remains superior. i truly believe that was her strongest era artistically, its unfortunate the tour itself was really hard for her.
