Well another year past without anything
We might never get a second studio album at this point and just hope stuff keeps on leaking

The fact that in less than a month, would be Cry Baby's 10th anniversary...

this is out of the blue, but does anyone has the second part of ''the family jewels -track by track interview''? I downloaded the first part with a dead link from marinasboards/diamondsgarden and literally the next day it closed 
 
 

It’s alright. Definitely not bad. Not even in the same league as her older songs tho (creatively anyway)

random take - this song is so beautiful... it flows so seamlessly, doesn't even feel like it's 7 minutes long. The perfect album closer esp. after the dark, depressive, industrial sounds of the album... it's nice to end on a happyish, optimistic, high note.
 
I've been sleeping on this whole album. I kinda wrote it off after 1- 2 listens when it first came out but I really love it after giving it a revisit. The whole era was just a mismanaged mess and a headache for any stan, it deserved a proper rollout because the base concept is so fucking cool. Justice for WAP (it deserved a bigger moment & a better video), Justice for the whole album tbh.
 
anyways enough rambling, gonna go back to being in my feels as I blast this a bunch more times

she wrote on an IG story that apple music cleared all the samples for her already, whereas she has to get those same samples cleared by her own people or whatever for other streaming services. it'll be on other platforms soon i think.

I’m listening right now on the bus home actually! At first because of the track titles on Apple Music I thought it was just a playlist with other peoples songs / remixes but it’s actually more like an electronic Club Future Nostalgia. Dancey remixes and songs with lots of samples, fully mixed and Grimes singing over them. Highly recommend it’s actually exactly what I wanted it to be!

this one was filmed in 2016 december and it was a medley of the altar songs, it was also called "memoir of the fallen ones." i was so jealous of the fans who were able to watch it with virtual reality back in 2017. it is sad she chose not to release it, i'm sure it was beautiful

Right. I'm tired of Cry Baby - and Melanie has shown to be an amazing songwriter off-character with After School. Girl, drop Cry Baby already (5 years!!!) and move on with something new. I'm here for it.

I'm actually very surprised she hasn't collaborated with Lily Allen yet. Lily's been very vocal about wanting to collaborate w/ Marina, even tweeting her about it on occasion. I just know they would make something killer together. I've also been a Lily stan for well over a decade now, and would ascend to the heavens hearing  a collaboration w her & another one of my faves x

I'm loving how mature the album is shaping up to be. Seems like she went through some really difficult times in the last few years... so glad she's doing better now.
 
Also now that Hollywood is released can we get the demo in listenable quality?

I wonder if the original Grimes and Rina collabs are ever gonna be out there. I remember a month or so ago she mentioned wanting to collab with them (and insinuating she hadn’t before?) so I’m assuming the collabs she did with them are just fully scrapped. (ik she said the grimes one was scrapped cause they werent feeling it, idk abt the rina one tho)
I rlly hope Charli x Grimes will eventually happen. I feel like a Rina collab def will, kinda written in the stars tbh there’s no way they aren’t releasing a collab one day. 

The new movie won't be about crybaby as crybaby's era has now ended. The movie will be about herself. :/ Personally I have little interest in a second movie and I think she should just do music videos and maybe a "short" Explaining where crybaby went. Fans shouldn't have to wait another several years because Melanie is known for pushing back the release timelines she set for herself. I feel like she has stopped listening to what her fans are and aren't liking if I'm honest. K-12 lost MGA millions but she still wants to go into that direction :/ they're gonna drop her if she keeps loosing them money.

I didn't realize how much I loved her and her music until I recently started relistening and going through some of her videos (Her eye for visuals are insane)
she has always been ahead of her time & was never fully appreciated... it makes me sad.
 
anyways, I hope we get more music (& an album? eventually)
