i also think most of the Chris Braide songs are pretty terrible because of whatever horrific autotune he uses for her. completelyyyyy ruin tha vibe

Can’t even pretend to be surprised tbh. I wish people would stop parading Beyonce (and by extension, Jay Z) around as some morally enlightened figure who should be involved in US politics and culture to an extremely weird degree?

My point is that she's THE Lana Del Rey and she needs to stop acting like she was nothing before they crossed paths--he did not elevate her art to a so-called God-tier level all on his own, to the point where she cannot envision a future without him on board.

She needs to give herself more credit, and also more credit to past collaborators. Jack Antonoff did not make Lana Del Rey. That's all.

Her speech makes me sad.. I know it’s meant to be about Jack and celebrating him.. but it reads like “I was nothing until you started working with me” and kinda makes it sound like she believes her work wasn’t good prior to meeting him and nobody liked or cared for her

You made masterpiece albums before him! And she kinda dismisses that her songs are based off many other things than production…

She pretty much said "thank you for giving me my critical reassessment". She came across as insecure to me, sorry, as if she's clinging to him and that he must have a hand on her current and future endeavours.

The mixing quality on both albums is bad in different ways, but one isn't worse than the other. Even though the execution of sound could be better on both, I think the production/soundscape on Blue Banisters is better. Ocean Blvd is very soft, piano-heavy, and relies on multiple samples of ambient artists like AK and SYML. The interludes are unnecessary, and the song structure on the album is lacking. Long intros and outros means less substance, making the album feel a little like there's too much filler and not enough Lana. On Blue Banisters, the production is stronger and bolder (aside from a couple songs like the title track). The piano-heavy songs are still fuller than Ocean Blvd's, with warm and acoustic instrumentation. The addition of the UV outtakes may be lazy, but I think they work perfectly on the album and don't stand out at all. The album feels cohesive, and I think its only downfall is the actual mixing and sound quality. Thematically, I don't really think she comes off as "strong" on either album. Both albums are her two most vulnerable ones in her discography; however, Ocean Blvd just deals with heavier topics in a more free-verse, poetry style, stream of consciousness type of lyricism, while the songwriting on Blue Banisters seems a little more polished and traditional overall.

To my ear, in terms of production, instrumentation, and arragement, the sound of BB and the sound of OB are very far apart. Judging by the sound of each, I don't see what JA brings to the table. So I'd probably appreciate a sound on this new album that's closer to BB.

Her titles have not been iconic or interesting since NFR. They've all been obnoxiously long sentences, or as bland as a paper napkin (Blue Banisters)
This one is the worst of them all though. But my expectations are significantly lower than they were back in the day, i think we can all agree on that. Even if we're afraid to admit it to ourselves

i know i said it earlier in this thread but as excited as i am gosh i really do hate the title  i feel like there'd be a way to keep the overall sentiment of the title but make it a bit more punchy or intriguing? maybe like idk When The Right One Stays? The Right Person Stays? The Right Person? idkkkk it just doesn't really work for me, it does give a bit of a live laugh love vibe but more than anything i think it just doesn't sound like... iconic or epic enough? u know? idkkkk it sounds like a fine song title but for an album its just not doing it for me

Well, for starters, they've been repurposed a gazillion times. Mostly by folks going through trauma and pain, or those encouraging others to pick themselves up and move on.

The very context of these statements implies self-healing, recovery, regaining balance, etc.

Most of all, they're cliched statements.  So, for me, this territory is more self-help isle in a bookshop, rather than any psychology corner with actual insights. But that's just my opinion.

We don't have to agree on this, you know? It's just my opinion.

I wish we we're going to get another cinematic album from Lana but I know I have to let that go... Lust for Life is the last album we're probably ever going to get like that.

Courtney and I are definitely on the same page regarding the John Denver cover. Courtney is unpredictable and messy and I think a collaboration could be magical.

Yessssss Courtney and Lana are back. It’s not like her dig at Lana covering Take Me Home, Country Roads is all that different from what Lana’s own fans say about her country flair sometimes….

Who else would you like to collaborate with?
"I'd love to co-write a song with Lana Del Rey – I’d like to be “Paul” and go hard on choruses while going back to Norman and go hard on choruses, or whatever. She’s currently on her honeymoon; I'm very happy for her. But every time some kid asks me to “collab” with Lana – I mean come on! Can you stop saying "collab" to someone who straddles Gen X and boomer? We don’t do that! Call it “writing a song together,” not "featuring." It makes me lose my temper and makes it the last thing I want to do."
What are some of your favourite lyrics?
"You can't beat “My pussy tastes like Pepsi Cola” as an opening line! [from Lana Del Rey’s ‘Cola’]"
