Elizabeth II was the last big monument of the English and world monarchy, she was a bit the last "old" to be directly linked to the ancient kings and her disappearance shows us how much humans can have everything in life but they don't will never be strong in the face of death. It's sad that she left and I understand the English who mourn her because they are losing a "mom", a protector of the country. But personally I never liked this family, afterwards I am not English so I am not exactly affected by this loss. I can't stand the dramas and superficiality all around them. Even if it is "beautiful" and vintage, monarchy of this type should definitely end, and I think this ceremony will be indecent in the eyes of all because inflation is eating away at us every day and people are getting poorer while suffering a lot. The English will have to pay with their own money... Like all very affluent families, there are always secrets, bizarre stories, they are not clean. I put them side by side with the Rothschild family, it's the same delirium. They are not rich for nothing. They had to exploit people to get there, and pedophilia and other crap... She knew a lot about it and had a lot of staff to carry out her desires. That said, I think a lot about Lady Di tonight who will find the one who tormented her in part.

It is true that NFR! didn't deserve all the hype in my opinion but I'm glad it happened, even if his first albums would have deserved this direct recognition. Her ideas aren't bad but I mean her latest projects are weak because she probably thinks her ideas can outperform some producers, she still needs some help. She's not bad at all.

I'm disappointed to see Jack still working with her. In fact with hindsight, I realize that he's not a bad producer (I can't believe he produced Florence's last album which is a perfection and so many others), but in fact he dares not say no to everything Lana wants. The former collaborator(s) clearly told her the best musical direction to take, Jack is too close to upset her and it gives people weakness because she thinks she has very good ideas. There is food and drink, but since NFR! it's a bit of a descent. And the piano videos don't enchant me too much...

Shit I'm sorry about the tinnitus. Bjork's music is really aggressive if you listen to it for a long time and live I'm not surprised that it does damage without protection. The same thing happened to me with Faceshopping by Sophie, they left after 6 months of hell and I never listened to this song or the artist again. I wish you to get better and that you can find the pleasure of listening to music.

It looks like a continuation of Biophilia in the rhythm I like. The visuals, the sets are magnificent and Bjork, despite her ever-increasing extravagance, is sublime. But I understand those who don't like it because it's been quite repetitive and hard on the ear for a few eras and there are few surprises. Too much experimental kills the experimental. I hope she will let this album breathe a little with lighter titles after the compact (not to say indigestible, Utopia). She announced a dancing and clubbing album, I must dream but I expect a slightly more generic record.

Exactly, she is talented and her videos express a lot, they could be official music videos. Glad you like it too

Bjork is a fantastic, incredible artist. I appreciate her career because she hasn't released easy-to-access, mainstream projects. I would not have been surprised if the public would not have followed but it is, and people understand how much there is a huge job beyond each album. I didn't like Bjork for a long time because I didn't understand her success, and why she was coming back so much in the rankings among the best artists in the world. I did not understand his universe. I dug and then I dropped before giving a chance to Biophilia that I downloaded (its cover intrigued me). It's a bit unpopular but Biophilia remains her most fascinating album. When it came out (I discovered Bjork at that time), I was impressed by the whole concept behind it: the applications, the instruments created for the occasion, the costumes, the museums, and the reworked and revised nature in a melodic way. I often listened to it when I was stressed and felt closer to nature than ever. It was a very interesting concept. And then I discovered the rest which really impressed me. Isobel, So broken, Bachelorette, Charlene, Stronemilker, and then Pagan Poetry... The B-sides are also magnificent. She has made such advanced albums, she herself becomes her own music in aesthetics. So much to say about her. Utopia was a good album, but I was a little less attentive to that, I didn't really like the visuals. The next one is going to be very interesting for sure. There are no 2 Bjork, and it's so cool to see so many people loving and respecting her (especially this forum)

Unpopular opinion but I hate the Tiktok platform with all my soul, and I don't like this way of making Lana "popular", in fact I think she deserves better. Channels like "Mermaid Motel" do it more justice than short videos. I recognize that it helps to highlight very good songs that haven't had much success in the past (Alexis Jordan - Happiness for example). For Lana I really liked this little secret garden side that only the fans knew about, you see the demos, the little known versions, the secret channels... And now everything is known and displayed on stupid videos. But that's how it is, I understand the concept, it's positive for her I guess because she has everything to gain from it.
-
Wow it's very unpopular lol But it's interesting to have opinions like yours, tastes are different in each person.
-
I use the photo of the knees as an alternative cover (demos) and it is true that it is magnificent. The photo of Lana with the flowers is sublime, iconic but does not represent the album, it's more of a general photo. Anyway, this is my opinion. The original one, I find it perfect with the black and white, and Lana sad coming out of her old Mercedes, I find that it corresponds to the sadness of Ultraviolence: a woman who has lived a more tormented journey than Born to die .

These are records that I didn't like at all, apart from a few songs on BB, but I like your perception when you say that you made playlists of songs that were soft, discreet and less intense than the others, with a touch of Sirens. I didn't see these discs like that and I find that comforting.

Real in this post, that's what I thought It's true and it marked me the way she had been treated badly by the media (plastic girl, bad at singing, a puppet). I thought she put out a fucking good and conceptual album at the same time, and that's how the media treats her? I was pissed because I was afraid that she would stop her career lol It was really rough. But I think since the end of the Paradise era, and since the beginning of UV she has gained credibility, and more and more every year. In 2022 she has never been so acclaimed loved and respected. In fact, despite her difficult beginnings, I'm surprised to see how well she succeeded afterwards, in being a reference, in continuing to be relevant. She's handled it pretty well despite not releasing any major albums in a few years. Almost everyone knows her, at least one of its songs. She has prestigious contracts, films, fashion, tours that are very full... In fact she has a really big status in 2022: people no longer shout Lana like the hesitant newbie artist but they shout Lana like they would see Britney Spears or Amy Winehouse, she has become an acclaimed and highly anticipated musical icon with each album. She had a trauma during this period and that is understandable, but water has flowed under the bridge and today I don't see how she could complain because she has become an artist that many people want. Her beginnings did not slow her down in her musical conquest, and that she can be proud of because it is not the case for everyone.

Glad you can like it! You will definitely like her album. Happy learning French, it's not an easy language! I will try to improve my poor english too haha

I really like her old photos . She's so beautiful, and everyone is okay with that. She has a beauty that reminds me a little of younger Dominique Swain (on the pictures where she is 12 years old), she has a lolitesque thing. The prom shots are beautiful, but I wouldn't have recognized her face right away, I think the hairstyle changes a person a lot. For her face, I realize that when she started out, she didn't do that much surgery apart from the lips and the nose which she refined. It's not shocking when you see the pictures of her when she was younger, makeup played an impressive role. I have the impression that she assumes much more of her "her" from before now. She clearly changed her face more after Lust for life, sometimes excessively, but for some time now she's been trying to become more natural again and it's much better. I hope she reveals even more old shots, it's fascinating to watch. And Lizzy's of course.

I'm French but unfortunately I don't listen to French indie artists a lot, but there are some tracks that are pretty good: L'impératrice ('Matahari' album) which is well produced, 404 is I really like this track. Then I put you some recommendations that may interest you: I believe they all released an album, you can look at that on Discogs and see their recommendations, often it can lead to little bands here and there... Bandcamp can help too.

I think Lana's songs don't have very deep sadness in the lyrics, but the mood, vocals and instruments make them very sad for some tracks. And if the memories, a disappointment, a death or something comes to be grafted on it, it becomes difficult to listen. For my part it is a large part of the album Honeymoon, which reminds me of a really difficult period, I had others but this disc it took me more than 5 years to listen to it without feeling bad. Honeymoon is really sad, hard to hear but I force myself to listen to it in adequate conditions and it's really a very beautiful song and I'm starting to make peace with, High on the beach and Religion. An unfinished summer. Video games makes me cry every time I hear it especially the chorus. Life goes by. Young and beautiful too. Because I think I will die more or less young. I try to get away from her music but she is like a magnet, it relieves me and hurts me at the same time. I try to shut myself up less in his records and do something else on the side. Her music is so good, so I take it more lightly, and that's the best thing to do. (sorry to tell my life but everything is linked, her music all that)

Kid Cudi is still good at writing and making impactful sounds. This album is a masterpiece and the 2nd of a high level.

Natalia Kills is such a mess... She had a lot of talent, style and her 2 albums in Natalia's name were little pop perfections. Mirrors comes back often. Her album under her real name is great too. Cruel Youth was a great project, it adapts to all musical genres. I don't know where the rest of it is, years we've been waiting for, the songs released aren't bad at all. But what to say? She killed her career, I don't know if she will be able to release music like before. I think we will have to settle for leaks and an album that will be released in 10 years.

You said it all ! Born to die is something but it wouldn't be complete without its adult evolution: Paradise, an absolutely perfect world. A poisonous, dark and dangerous journey. This album is incredible, the musical quality, the atmosphere... A real movie soundtrack. Lana and her beauty. Lana and atypical men. Ride and his American trip full of freedom. Tropico this masterpiece! Why is this trilogy never quoted and never awarded? She should not be forgotten. Cola will always remain my favorite, it's musical perfection, an inspiring particular atmosphere, but the rest is fantastic, beautiful and superbly well constructed. So much emotion, excitement listening to this album, I could never do without it. Who makes albums of such quality? Bigger world. I don't think Paradise is overproduced, nothing gets old. For me it came out yesterday. I love this so much, not enough words to describe that. Glad to see people still liking it years later, it doesn't get too much love even though it's a masterpiece of Lana's discography. And yeah Blue velvet is a fantastic cover!

She set the bar very high and I agree with your comment that it will make a good household on the radio waves ! I had taken off quite a bit since her ultra-luxurious R'n'B phase, queen of the world and grating of Lemonade which was a more painful repetition of 'Beyoncé' (in my opinion), and her other projects which were too repetitive, we could no longer distinguish what she was doing because everything looked the same. She had lost me. I'm not going to say that it's a natural Beyoncé who lets herself go here but the dancing album is very pleasant to listen to. There are good well-constructed influences, well-integrated samples, all in a minimalism that reminds me of Beyoncé that I really appreciated. The album is very good. It is clear that the trend of good albums like this has to come back. The radios have been flooding us with shit for years, it has to stop.

Are you a newer fan, or have you known about her for years now? Fan since August 2011, I cried a lot when Amy died and Lana arrived afterwards, I took refuge in her. An article from a music site had presented her as a "new artist who is making the buzz this week", I thought that she would be an artist not very interesting but that I will listen to see because I had no more homework to do and then... Video games was like love at first sight, I can't explain. I remember sitting in front of my computer and not talking until the end. I knew from this video which relates to memories, this homemade, this voice, this melancholy that Lana was gold, she already had a great mastery. I classified it immediately among the great ones. I did not doubt for a moment, I knew she would follow me all my life. Has your interested grown, or dwindled? I'm not going to lie, I'm disappointed with her albums and her projects since Lust for life. But my interest in her does not diminish because she is fascinating. I like to know what she is doing, where she is going, the meaning of her songs, her lyrics, her life. Her life is connected to music and I really like that. If I remain faithful it's because I still hope that she will make an album with BTD, UV, a bit of HM and LFL. On the other hand since NFR!, I haven't listened to her projects more than 5 times (except Wildflower Wildfire, Blue Banisters and Text Book which I like), the rest is anecdotal. But I wait. For example these latest shoots are the best in a long time, so it's not lost. Every news of her is cool. Where are you now in your fan journey? I don't really know... I can't say I'm what you call a fan because I never bought anything from her and I never got the chance to see her in concert. The only thing I bought from her is the Born to die album (although I almost bought Paradise and UV on vinyl - damn nice boxes! - I wish I had because they didn't were no longer available a few weeks later). But I think the material is nothing. I have immense respect for her work and her journey, all the creativity she can give. So I'm a fan of the shade, it doesn't prevent having an unlimited admiration for what it can do.

I still love Cry Baby, which is a really successful, researched, wanted, produced record, I think that in a few years it will become a little classic of Pop music. As for the rest of Melanie's career, I find it difficult to project myself, I can't know what she will be doing in a few years... Will she keep her universe? K-19 was really below CB and After School was good without shining. I find it hard to see her in 5 years with this pretty rosy universe and singing about school, I like it but one day it will get stuck. I've skimmed over his news a bit this year and the leaks that have leaked don't have a lot of sparkle compared to Cry Baby, which was strong and striking. I hope she goes into darker sounds, like Mad Hatter or great sounds like Soap, those little arrangements that made her songs quite unique. Her last projects were a fiasco, she should think less big and make a really good solid album, she can do it.

Unfortunately, I'm not surprised that this kind of thing happens to Lana. I like her closeness to people and it's fabulous that a singer of her caliber does it but I'm always a little afraid for her when she does it, I know she likes the taste of risk and places popular to everyone, but its popularity is growing year by year and now it is time for it to be less accessible. In addition, she has a very obsessive universe, with her gestures, her voice, her gentleness, her closeness, it's a "nice" profile that attracts this kind of unbalanced person and she will still have many others because she has created a great aura with her music. I know she wants to be free but she should be careful to remain discreet and increase her security. I don't know what year, it must have been 2013... she had come to Paris in a poor neighborhood, to a flea market with no security or anything. At the time there were not so many problems but today it would be really risky for her to walk around alone given all the attacks that this city is undergoing. Oh her house in Malibu I remember it well, it was so beautiful and it was sad when she sold it because she had found her corner of paradise. And I also think that she is too well known in LA, she should change town and come there discreetly.

where is everyone getting leaked lana music??
sunday afternoon replied to jamesss's topic in Lana Thoughts
It's exactly that. It's infinite and luck means that we inevitably come across a piece of the puzzle.
