I was going to say this, the music videos lately have no substance and it just isn't true to her and idk just a big let down. When I used to watch her music videos id rewatch them because they're so good and striking now I'm like "ok whatever she could have done so much more" 

Did she not just throw off the WHOLE story of Portals with this video lmfao, also the video was very disappointing with it being so literal and then 80% on the moving platform w an obvious green screen background

Not sure if I'm just tasteless or if the Tunnel Vision music video was legitimately a letdown.. she could've done so much with that, but instead we got "graphic design is my passion" motifs with a side of badly used CGI.

Sometimes I get kind of frustrated with her, she's so annoying when it comes to leaks, I get that it hurts that her stuff leaked but why is she acting as if her fans leaked her stuff and refuses to talk about it.. like fine I get it with Portals leaks but can she finally acknowledge some popular leaks from Crybaby era at least? I get that /some/ of them are personal but c'mon when saying you don't want others to hear certain songs 'cause they're personal you mean WHAT? did her aunt's sister's father's brother's mother give birth while Strawberry Fields was playing and that's why it's so personal 
 
It was kinda petty that she rewrote some songs with the same title and left some of her best as unused songs, it's probably why the era itself feels dead upon arrival. She should stop putting sfx in the tracks too, you're selling an album not a soundtrack Nurse's Office is such a good song and she has to make us listen to the movie sfx and for what. People loved Cry Baby because it was HER, it was unique but it was also an easy listen.. if she'd have released it today all the songs would have the clutter from the MVs in the streaming version audio I can just tell  like the Mrs. Potato Head intro 
 
Given her latest fan interactions at this point I feel like there's a grudge, idk how else to explain all this, wish she'd realize fans are on her side and the only reason leaks get so popular is because her own creative ambitions hold her back from releasing music and therefore there's a content starvation on the fans' end... a single here and there wouldn't hurt. I wonder if we'll get a proper roll out from her one day. 
 
Also revisited K-12 and it could've been way bigger if it came out sooner, kinda loving it way more than Portals (sorry) although Portals is still nice. Just feeling like I enjoy K-12 (except Wheels on the bus) way more as an album than Portals which has a bunch of interludes and stuff tackled onto the songs.. though Portals' highs are reaaaaaally good

I've seen too many immediate complaints for it all to be a coincidence, so where's the "luxury quality" Melanie was going on about when fans were criticizing the design and price tag for the perfumes? "It takes a lot of time and money to make high quality, meaningful products/art for you guys!" she says, as she feeds us an era full of the lowest quality shit she's ever put her name behind.
 
She keeps trying to make every bad decision sound like high art that we're just too stupid to understand, too. Even the bottle that came out looking like one of these, with toy potions inside(and they don't even look like real metal, but spray painted plastic).
So yeah.. it's gotten old. This whole era in general has been such a letdown compared to what she's truly capable of creating.

The Portals perfume release is... interesting to say the least. When we started being told a perfume was coming, I was hoping to see something similar to the Crybaby perfume that, while a bit niche, is over all an appealing blend with a simple package you can tuck into a drawer if you don't want to display it. I know smaller and more affordable bottles are meant to be coming out next spring, but it just leads me to think this release was being pushed out before it was ready and rushed to completion.

Another thing I've started to see now that people are receiving their packages is that even if they are over all happy with the product in terms of the packaging, they're disappointed with the fragrances themselves. u/blue_cookie_cutter on reddit said the fragrances only lasted for around ten minutes on their skin, and had a plasticy overtone after drying down that they compared to a c*ndom. I do hope that this is just a case of an individual receiving a poor product, possibly from winter temperatures during transit, but if this does turn out to be a consistent issue it's disappointing that this is another instance of low-quality merchandise being pushed by Melanie that probably won't be spoken on.

Oh Lord yep that's the one I have it definitely sounds and plays like how you described, I had the colored variant and it sounded better 😞 but it was warped hence why I have the bloodshot 

Honestly I'd have to say Jazmin missed out with all of the scraps this era like Addict and Bleeding Wings ugh so good and the fact that most of the scraps if not all are the closest to perfection to like her past works while the singles/stuff that did make it to the album isn't bad it's just okay.

It looks so cheap and ugly?? For $200+.. I do not understand anything about this fucking era at all anymore

Can we talk about how Alphabet City is likely a whole separate song from Alphabet Boy and it's a 2014 Cry Baby registry... the fact we grouped it based off the title is kinda dumb. Even the length is different. It is a song I fear

I will stand by the fact that Cry Baby was immaculate. I will always love Cry Baby. Title Track, Alphabet Boy, Milk and Cookies, Mrs Potato Head, Carousel, Dollhouse - absolute love. Stan Cry Baby.

The whole thing is certainly... strange. The fact he made a new account specifically for this makes me think he didn't originally want it attached back to him, but he has shared his recent post on both @verde.whatever and @verdeonfilm which may be his way of confirming it's him.

While I understand that he likely is frustrated with the treatment he gets now that he's dating Melanie (I certainly wouldn't like it either), I don't think the solution to that is to photograph random strangers who may not know or consent to being posted online. There's always a chance that this may violate some form of privacy law in one of the countries where the photos are being taken, so it just seems an odd risk to be willing to take? That said, he and Melanie both have this sort of strange way to go about talking about topics where they feel like they need to make you uncomfortable to change your view instead of spreading education or resources, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was just his idea of how to go about sharing his feelings on the issue. 


Edit - Reading through some of the comments on his instagram page, I'm seeing claims that people were unaware they were being photographed and that some have even requested the removal of the images, but they are currently still up. The comment was also liked by Verde, so this may be some confirmation from him that he doesn't intend to take anything down.

I've also seen a few claims that the photos taken in Berlin do break German privacy laws, but I can't speak for the exact writing of the law as I've not researched it.

It's not fans, just random people out in the streets. I think Verde is trying to make a point about paparazzi and fans taking photos of famous people without their consent. Like "This bothers you, why doesn't that? we're all people."
 
But it comes across as hypocritical since he's basically just becoming part of the problem himself  and doing exactly what he's condemning⸺unless he's getting permission and asking them beforehand (which doesn't seem very likely)

i get the concept about cry baby but if you’re being reborn into a soul you’ve lived in forever shouldn’t you have something incredibly wise and prophetic to write about…

I'm so over her arrogance. We get it, we just don't like it. You can make bad art as a hobby. But don't expect people to throw millions at you and sing your praises if this is the best you can do.

If she didn't just mean that she was waiting on outside funds, I'm confused. Because it almost sounds like she's saying she doesn't care to flesh out the era if she can't make the film, and is only putting out 13 MVs to get it over with now/match her past numbers. I know compromise isn't her thing- but come on.
 
She could've just cut the script to fit 13 slightly longer MVs, solving the "problem" and negating her need for 13 unnecessary, plotless placeholders. PORTALS is already a 1hr6m album, each video backed by thousands at least, so it's crazy that she's acting like there's not enough time or money to execute her ideas in MVs. Other artists don't even get more than 1 or 2 videos per album.. It's odd seeing her waste her opportunities.

So apparently the film isn't coming bc the label can't afford to fund both the film and 13 music videos. Can't pull up the IG comments she implied this in rn but yeah. What a surprise.
