    i think miles Kane makes it sound like a bad crossover with the arctic monkeys and I just don’t think it fits well with the rest of the album at all!

    i love chemtrails but i hate when people say its lana "at her most joni mitchell". despite it featuring a joni mitchell cover, it is by far her least joni-esque album both musically & in spirit. yosemite comes close to joni energy but the fairly simple structures & melodies & lyrics throughout most of the album are more like carole king or joan baez but definitely not joni mitchell. i truly believe people only think thats her most joni mitchell sounding album bc she covers her on it & most people associate joni mitchell with basic folk music but even her "folk" music was experimental & jazzy & completely offbeat. imo lana at her most joni mitchell is still aka or hm (but bb does have more of that chaotic joni energy again)

    2 months later I can confirm that this is a 6.5/10 - 7/10. Chemtrails outsold with consistency and lyrics but BB does have some interesting ventures sonically that I'd like her to explore more.
     
    I want her Joni Mitchell era to finally arrive, and Chemtrails was the closest to that. But I also want something lush and melodic like NFR and UV ugh I can't wait for the next album.

    Which is sad because sometimes what are you supposed to do when the world is built to work against you??
     
    I just finished Stigmata by Helene Cixous - I was supposed to read it when I was doing my postgrad in English lit but you know how books just gather dust from time to time…Blood and Guts in High School is next on my list
