QFTC: How is 77 minutes 1.5 hours?

I think it probably has to do with Lana's vocals on Kintsugi. She must be whispering and/or using her low voice during the entirety of the track. It kinda sounds like it could be experimental/not everyone's cup of tea, which is far more intriguing to me than expecting to get yet another "good but simple" ballad. The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that it *is* the automatic singing/writing song that she and Antonoff wrote last April. 
 
What I really like is that, except for A&W and Grandfather which have been highlighted by both Kintsugi and BOZ, the insiders' takes on other tracks have been vastly different so far. For example, Kintsugi is definitely not a fan of the interludes, while BOZ really digs the Jon Batiste one and has started appreciating the weirdness of the Judah Smith one, too. On the other hand, Kintsugi thinks that Kintsugi is, like, the best thing Lana has ever done, while BOZ says it's too sparse/lullaby-esque/bare. And Kintsugi likes Margaret a lot, while BOZ kinda dismisses it (mostly because of Jack's vocals, lmao). This means that there truly *is* something for everyone on this album. And I definitely prefer this kind of reaction to the ones we usually get when everyone agrees on certain songs being the standouts, while the rest of them are shrugged off as "fillers"/not as good. The reactions on release day should be fun!

I'm in my year of rage and retribution (not rest and relaxation) so I'm really excited for A&W and its place on the record as an angry anthem – but I love that there seems to be so much variety and intensity in terms of the sonic landscape, and it's definitely going to be a cathartic record. I also find it so interesting that the last few tracks on this record seem to pick up in pace, when Lana has almost exclusively winded her albums down in production. Perhaps a jumping off point for something more experimental and hard in the record(s) to come?

I watch "Paris, Texas" yesterday and it is a very pretty and sad movie. Excited to know if it has any relation to the song on the album.
 

I haven't seen Paris, Texas in a while (and I have a very strong hunch that the song is about film and not the town lol) but from what I recall, there's some REALLY strong themes of family, parenthood, the loss of innocence as a child, atonement, domestic abuse etc. I'm really, really interested in seeing how Lana connects this with her own life (her relationship with Patty and her father, her sister being a mother, etc). It's an absolutely tragic story. Or it might not be related to it at all lol
 

Even he knows his opinion on Lana is questionable and people should decide for themselves 

Am I the only one, who despite all of this information, still has no idea what this album is going to sound like

tbh, I feel like that BoZ person is only shading "Kintsugi" (the song) because he's lowkey shading "Kintsugi" (the person) as they took his crown as THE insider (sips coffee)

I seriously trust Kintsugi much more. BoZ is great and reliable, but I rarely agree with his assessments on things. I think the people who hated Chemtrails and Blue Banisters the most will agree with BoZ's takes, and the people who were more sympathetic to the meandering structures of those two records will be more in line with Kintsugi's taste.

Kintsugi as a lullaby  I just know it's going to touch the soul so deeply.

Insiders have always had albums early and the 99% of them only leak because of the physicals. If DYKTTATUOB leaks it will be because of the delay, it's not randomly leaking in February cause people have it

BOZ described the preacher interlude as a mess and seems kind of... confused... by it. So I am claiming it. I love weird and experimental Lana. Black Bathing Suit is heavenly. 

Controversial and polarizing is the wrong word to use for Bartender. The subject material is not very deep or controversial. It can only be described as controversial because lots of people don't like the song. HIADFAWLMTHBIHI is the controversial and polarizing masterpiece of NFR. And White Dress for COTCC.
 

It sounds quite interesting to me, very Violet Bent Backwards-esque. It must be the « magic moment » song that Antonoff mentioned last year. Has there ever been a +6-minute Lana song that hasn’t been a serve so far?
