In Swan Song, I always heard the "with just one wave, it goes away" as "there's just one way, the causeway" and thought she was just saying causeway weird and referencing Giant's Causeway in Ireland lmao

Felt like an idiot after finally actually reading the lyrics after years

Sitting in the living room of the house we'd just moved into having a very intense delusion that the silver bust of Lenin on the previous owner's bookshelf was staring back at me and plotting my murder while my grandpa was cutting the overgrown grass on the lawn with a scythe

regardless... i doubt that she would have anything negative or discriminatory to say about that, assuming that just seems odd to me, especially when we don't know with certainty that the song's even about ethel cain in the first place

this is the same woman who made a post celebrating the life of goddess bunny, a transgender drag queen, when she passed away, i don't think it makes any sense or is even appropriate to assume she's transphobic and would go as far as saying something like that in a song, especially when she knows that all of her stuff leaks

david lynch was a one of a kind, revolutionary filmmaker and an absolute legend whose impact on the arts will carry on forever. he’s inspired and enlightened so many with his extraordinary mind and vision - the loss of him is incredibly devastating knowing we will never get to experience art that comes from a mind like his again.

I found out about his passing a bit after I just got done watching an episode of twin peaks earlier today as I’m on a rewatch at the moment and while I am extremely saddened by his death I also feel the need to recognize I feel so grateful to have been able to have had the pleasure and luxury of watching many of his works over the last decade.
the day I came home from high school and decided to watch twin peaks was one of the best decisions I made in my life. his work had a significant impact in the ways I interact, perceive, and connect with art.

    he will be dearly missed
rest in peace to one of the greatest visionaries of all time

Kyle MacLachlan's tribute is so beautiful:

"Forty-two years ago, for reasons beyond my comprehension, David Lynch plucked me out of obscurity to star in his first and last big budget movie. He clearly saw something in me that even I didn’t recognize. I owe my entire career, and life really, to his vision.

What I saw in him was an enigmatic and intuitive man with a creative ocean bursting forth inside of him. He was in touch with something the rest of us wish we could get to.

Our friendship blossomed on Blue Velvet and then Twin Peaks and I always found him to be the most authentically alive person I’d ever met.

David was in tune with the universe and his own imagination on a level that seemed to be the best version of human. He was not interested in answers because he understood that questions are the drive that make us who we are. They are our breath.

While the world has lost a remarkable artist, I’ve lost a dear friend who imagined a future for me and allowed me to travel in worlds I could never have conceived on my own.

I can see him now, standing up to greet me in his backyard, with a warm smile and big hug and that Great Plains honk of a voice. We’d talk coffee, the joy of the unexpected, the beauty of the world, and laugh.

His love for me and mine for him came out of the cosmic fate of two people who saw the best things about themselves in each other.

I will miss him more than the limits of my language can tell and my heart can bear. My world is that much fuller because I knew him and that much emptier now that he’s gone.

David, I remain forever changed, and forever your Kale. Thank you for everything."

like others have said I went into Mulholland Dr. completely blind having no prior exposure to his work in September of 2022 and it literally changed my life forever. dramatic af but I had never had a movie fully stop me in my tracks to that extent where I knew I had just seen something big and started making my way through his work  it feel so expansive thinking about all the artists both visually and musically that have cited him as a direct source of inspiration or where its so obvious they're a fan cause you can just tell with Lynch fans  who else has a descripitive term like Lynchian named after them!! this is all so unexpected when his team came out a few months ago and said he wasn't healthy but still doing good  its hard to wrap my head around a loss like this but it's one the culture is definitely going to feel it I was holding out hope he had one final offering up his sleeve but honestly The Return is such an incredible and obvious endcap for his career in the way its so self-referential and ends off the epic that is Twin Peaks  god im really gonna miss him being around

The only artist in history to impact me as greatly as Lana has, maybe more so. Discovering Twin Peaks during my first year of university was life changing. His work has had a huge impact on my creativity, and his outlook on life is greatly inspiring. What a unique and incredible soul he had, and his art is the greatest to ever be captured on film. No one saw the world like he did and we are so lucky to have witnessed some of the wildness that his mind had to offer. He managed to delve into the darkest parts of the human soul in the most thrilling ways, while always making sure that the humour and the light stayed just as prominent and powerful as the evil that surrounds us. Rest in peace you magical man, thank you for everything you've given the world. <3

David Lynch, the writer-filmmaker whose works include Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks, has died aged 78.

Lynch's death was announced on his Facebook page by his family.

"There's a big hole in the world now that he's no longer with us," the post said.

"But, as he would say, 'Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.' … It's a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way."

I don’t think she necessarily leans republican. She endorsed biden just four years ago. Eight years ago she was very vocal against trump and kanye. When she talks about “morals and values”, I don’t think she talks about political positions. Rather, I think she talks about the hypocrisy, addiction to scandal and honestly outright crime that has penetrated hollywood. Yes, it may sound conspiratorial and qanon-y to talk about the evil celebrity elites, but I think the recent diddy scandals (which are just the cherry on top) are a perfect example of this. And I think this is one of the reasons why the democrats lost this year - it is the average joe’s instinct to reject the said “elites” and be suspicious of them. Republicans offered that (in words) while democrats embraced beyonce. Lana was very open about this in Dark but Just a Game and I think her interactions with many celebrities are what shaped her views rather than her suddenly turning anti-gay, baptist maga pro-lifer

Thats kind of a red flag to me lol an adult woman shouldn't have to "do as she's told" by someone who should be equal to them but also this doesn't really sound like Lana to me. She's always been pretty rebellious, even though a lot of her partner's personality/music tastes rub off on her lol
But if this tarot reader is correct and she "does what he says" then it makes it more likely that his political views would influence her and her own views may change, if they haven't already

i’m not trying to ignore the elephant in the room at all, i’m trying to say that jeremy is not a reflection of lana’s political views. the things that man reposted on facebook are disappointing, but can we really attribute the things he thinks to lana’s thoughts? i’m trying to be objective here. not everything jeremy says or believes is immediately lana’s shared belief. that was my entire point. i understand it’s disappointing because lana is associating herself with him and he thinks that, but that doesn’t immediately mean lana thinks that way too. i mean, would that fit her character that we have observed for 12+ years now? i get and respect what you’re saying though, but i just have a different view of it

Just listened to Emotional Machine again and if the whole L+F sounded like this, Believe in Love, Handmade Heaven, Soft to Be Strong, End of the Earth, it could've been a masterpiece lol. Also will never forgive Lana for not accepting the collab ffs.
