making music costs money you know sometimes stars gotta make those cutbacks

Well, I pawned the earrings that you gave me
Gold and made of flowers dangling
And I almost cried as I sold them all

I just want "surrealism" to imply Lana Del Ray-esque lyrics. Much more painterly, but not lacking the "bad boy" thematic for that sake.

She's kind of gone off in a direction, as of Big Eyes et al, where her narratives are a lot more traditional -- still Lana-y and poetic, but less about an atmosphere in the way that Lana Del Ray and maybe a lot of her unreleased stuff is.

I think that's what we're tired of. Lana just isn't as visual.. I don't wanna say anymore, but not right now, anyway. Which is what makes the Ultraviolence video such a welcome enigma among the rest of that album's videos.

We want something that's less obvious, is what I feel like.

It's also officially been a year since her last music video release (UV).

Remember when she used to churn them out like beat poetry on amphetamines?

I notice in the LAX video, that every single person in the airport knew who she was, unlike in older airport videos/photos where it seemed like no one knew.

These days, one doesn't even need a record company, and Lana, witness the 350 songs, most of which are not on records, many of which her supporters know about anyhow and can access.

Great artists paint. (sing, write, live)
People whose lives depend on great artists to put food on their own table sell things to justify their own life but without the artist, all those people are nothing at all.
But the artists work stand regardless

BTW- Lana is probably (shudder to think what the negative nelly's and ned's and Debbie downers would say) going somewhere to do publicity or interview or something for Honeymoon. Or maybe yesterday she
finished the last song and is justifiably going on vacation.
Life is short. Hope she had a safe flight, and does whatever it is she wants to do and only listens to postiives and no negatives.

I'd agree with you, but the thing is, we haven't had an album since June of last year. She's (somehow) had enough time to completely make an entire full album in such little time but who knows, it could be as simple as AKA or as complex as BTD and Paradise. We'll just have to wait and see.

It even runs on Windows 3.1, for that ~*~retro vintage aesthetic~*~
Calling it now. Honeymoon will be vaporwave inspired. She's already got the tracky tropical part down, after all

... if she likes bad boys.. she likes bad boys.. she is gonna write about what she knows and her life. she's gonna write about liking bad boys because she likes bad boys lol ? u can't just say "wow you still like bad boys? you need to explore new themes" bc .. she can't just go out and decided that she is into clergymen or something
    i really just don't understand

plus... honeymoon lyrics got such a "wow she's talking about bad boys again" attitude when really.. she only said one or two things that alluded to him being a bad boy.. the most outstanding one being " we both know the history of violence that surrounds you" which i think is a very important line in the song because it says "i know he can be violent sometimes but i don't care.." which is sort of how the honeymoon phase goes.

I'm going to admit to recording most or all of the show. BUT I always cover the entire phone (screen) with my hand as to not have people behind me look at a 5" glowing screen. Of if I'm close enough to the front or side I will lean my hand/device in a manner as to not block anyone's view with a glowing screen. And I keep the phone/hand way over my head as to not block my own view or anyone else's around me.

I think if you record at shows it's fine.. just be considerate of people around you. But especially don't watch the show through the recording device, that's super lame.

I'm so confused about wanting this. Owning a book of interviews with Lana is very tempting, but I dislike Franco and from what I know he's a shit writer

And I know that this book is gonna be expensive for me because I will have to get it delivered to Poland for me... sighhh not sure if worth it.
    Hope that ebook leaks.
Like I know I already will kill my wallet for the Susan Klebold book, not sure if want to do it for Franco even though Lana is involved :/

and she gave us a song and now we're all like "okay but where are the random people??"

Hello there! Reviving this thread after a long, long break. (Wow, last post in february...didn't think it has been this long.)
So, no irrelevant blahblah, here's one of many HM covers I'm working on.
I just really wanted to use this picture but somehow didn't find the right position for the text, so I made different versions. Nothing special at all, I'm a bit out of training in terms of making covers I guess.
