I hear you and totally recognise the relevance and resonance of Marilyn to Lana. I don’t think Lana is dressing as Marilyn however to reach global recognition. I don’t think Lana does anything for global recognition nowadays to be frank. My sense is Lana only does what’s right by the heart and dressed as her because that’s something she enjoys to do any chance she gets. My question about the ‘very specific impulse’ she has to dress as Marilyn which she ‘won’t say’ just seems to point to a particular personal event which Lana doesn’t want to disclose.

Can someone for the love of god tell me what Bittersweet Anthem is? I presume it’s a new song or a mashup? (I know she said at the show she didn’t have time to play it, just wondering where it came from and what it is)

Took the words right outta my mouth. I much prefer the raw organic performances from her. It baffles me that people expect mainstream pop singer things. My favorite moments of her live are the less structured ones - like when she plays yayo with her guitar or her heart shaped box cover - those passionate organic parts. there’s something about lanas live shows in recent years (with the dancers, outfit changes etc) that just doesn’t fit her for me. that said she’s angelic and perfect and I go see her every chance I get

I remember Lana saying in an interview something about ‘date the bassist, not the lead singer’. it seems like she’s talking about being more discerning in relationships for sure. Specifically, not going for the egotistical individual when she says the ‘ it can’t be a man like Ted or musician who sings about being free’
