I just finished: The Plague by Albert Camus - hits differently after Covid, and Camus is a master of weaving philosophy into fiction in a great way for beginners The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas by Ursula le Guin - an incredibly short story that I couldn't stop thinking about all day The Devil by Leo Tolstoy - a novella about obsession and addiction that's nowhere near as good as his longer works but still worth the read Now I'm attempting to tackle The Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller. I tried to read it last year but life got in the way! It's part of my "reading everything Lana ever mentioned" list ...

Chemtrails Over the Country Club Merch & Media Drop
The Sun Also Rises replied to Elle's topic in New Releases
Why does the U.K. UO never get anything like this I don't have Chemtrails on vinyl at all yet. For anyone who has multiple pressings, which is your favourite? Aesthetically I like the clear vinyl, green vinyl, and the red Neil Krug white dress vinyl — which should I prioritise hunting down? -
Okay this is actually so cute, I joined! I wish Lana would do a book club too. Can you imagine I like Laufey's music but I don't think I could ever love it, if you know what I mean. It doesn't (yet) have that special something that would get me obsessed. Having said that, her voice is so delicate and pretty and the music is so fairytale-like. Bewitched is so lovely in particular I also looked at some of the youtube videos you posted and she seems like the sweetest soul.

I'd say I have quite broad music taste, but historically, rock has always been my "home." I like so many different sub-genres though. I've always adored old 60s-70s rock like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and The Doors. On equal level are the 80s & 90s rock bands — REM, Radiohead (although they are more electronica than alt rock I think, I do enjoy their more rock-leaning earlier songs too), The Cure, Nirvana, and PJ Harvey. I'm also into metal, but I'm really "fussy" about the singers. So many bands I enjoy the music but the singing just ruins it for me. My favourite sub genres are definitely classic heavy metal and thrash metal. So far the only bands I love are Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Megadeth.

One of my favourite films of all time, top 5 for me. Did you like it?

I've been on a King Hu streak. He is literally the King of wuxia movies! It's been such a cultural education Last night I watched Dragon Inn. Before that I saw Come Drink With Me, Legend of the Mountain, Raining in the Mountain, and A Touch of Zen. My favourites were Legend of the Mountain, A Touch of Zen, and Dragon Inn!

I just finished Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami. It was my first Murakami novel and I have really mixed feelings about it, but I'll try some of his more surreal works

All completely true When I re-read the series I usually stop at book 3, those are definitely the most charming

Birmingham, ENG @ HMV Institute - November 17th, 2011
The Sun Also Rises replied to Elle's topic in 2011 Born to Die Tour
I SOOOOOOO wish I was old enough to be able to travel around the U.K. when Lana was living here/playing here a lot in her early career. Instead I was experiencing literally the worst year of my life stuck in my little city that she will never set foot in These photos are so unbelievably beautiful -
What was the first album you ever bought?
The Sun Also Rises replied to DeadSeaOfMercury's topic in Music
Ohhh great thread idea! I think the first I bought was OK Computer by Radiohead, it's hard to remember though. Other early ones were Vespertine by Bjork and The Doors (by the Doors) -
YES YES YES! I thought the same when I saw this on my Instagram feed earlier ... I'd love to see it

Anne is one of my all-time favourite book characters and Anne and Gilbert are one of my favourite book couples. The series is probably my go-to comfort read

I just finished reading The Master and Margarita, it was so weird, so funny (it's a satire), and overall just excellent. I rated it 5/5

It's gorgeous and I love it!! I wish she sang for longer, because oh my gosh does she sound beautiful. The song simply isn't long enough. I actually love the outro, it gives a beautiful vintage space-y sound that's dreamy but slightly eerie too. I'm reminded of Pink Floyd's "Echoes" and "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" in some of those really ambient sounds, but it also reminds me of the video game Bioshock Infinite The production is really interesting. I love the "old vinyl" sound. The vocal layering at the end of the singing section took me awhile to get used to!!! Her low register sounds gorgeously rich - it seems like we're all noticing in more and more performances she's getting that classic 2010-low back. And the higher octaves here? STUNNING! I would love for Lana and Jack to explore the spacey jazz-rock-blues Pink Floyd-Ella Fitzgerald-Etta James type sound more
