I am ashamed to admit it, but when I saw her for the first time and read her name, I thought: "Oh look, another Mediterranean pop export from Spain trying to make it in the UK after her record label booked some shows there and signed her to Polydor Records and Universal Music."

My second thought was: "Wow, she's not having an accent. One of her parents must be a native speaker." Then I googled... and well...

So... you're the creator of the by now infamous (at least to me) Miss America cover? Amazing! Your covers are really amazing...

I especially love this one, too:

I am sure she doesn't hate her. Especially now that she got to know what it's like to receive a tremendous amount of hate because of the way you present yourself and your work, she probably changed her mind when it comes to Gaga herself. Gaga is an artist that is very dedicated to her artistry, in charge and active as a philanthropist - these are probably the qualities she respects her for.

As for the music I doubt she is very fond of that, but who said that entertainers must like each other's music? I get so tired when fan bases take offense when one of their "faves" (I can't believe I am actually discussing this. Sounds like I am thirteen and bitter because popstar X said something bad about popstar Y while I like both of them) doesn't hold the same admiration towards this very certain artist than they do.

Speaking about the comment she posted concerning "Chillin:'" this song is simply flat and really really bad.

was it transformed? she still has her 'lizzy grant' account under the 'Mafiosiprincess' url ~ turned private a few months back, there was the Gaga 'chillin' comment on there, but yeah this was very early into Gaga's career & 'Chillin' was an awful song, her opinion may have changed when she started working with Bob who was managing Gaga. if this was after her initial comment? :S then again her comment to bob could of been out of recognition to his artists becoming successful, regardless of her own opinion of Gaga who she may of disliked

I think this was at the beginning of Gaga's career but now she's established herself a lot more in the industry, and I'm sure Lana respects her for that.

This is also something I thought about. Those websites that offer custom vinyl pressing... well, this is a service intended for DJs or people that make music themselves. What would be sold on here is nothing but one more commercially sold (let's face it) unauthorized release which is no way different to any other illegally distributed bootleg release.

Also, let's think about where the source material comes from... I doubt more than two people on here payed for their digital copy of Lana Del Ray A.K.A. Lizzy Grant. I really don't want to be the mood killer, but it can easily be traced back who ordered those vinyls and who sold them as it has been publicly discussed on this forum. Aside from the legal issues, I don't think this forum should be a platform for illegal distribution of copyrighted material (which has been pulled back for a reason and is technically unavailable for the public), despite the good intentions.

I would never say that any artist I like has "swag". It doesn't sound very positive

I don't even know what 'swag' is and quite frankly it seems to be one more useless expression without any actual meaning to it.

Sorry to kill the excitement but there is no way this album fits a 7" vinyl which is used for singles (total of two tracks, one per side) and EPs (with no more than three tracks). Depending on the duration of the recording and the quality you wish to have, you should at least expect one 12" disc. Maybe even two.

That's a nice idea and cute for the collection, but please keep in mind that the sound quality of the vinyl will be extremely poor. There is a reason why albums are specially mastered for vinyl releases. The vinyl used for this price (I am talking about the material here, not the album) will also be poor and won't do the sound quality any favors.

256 kbps mp3 quality with lots of surface noise from (probably) low grade vinyl that will probably already come slightly warped and have a lot of anomalies

Lana Del Rey changed my ~artistic perspective~ so much--whereas I would cringe at the tacky and trashy before, I have really weird appreciation for it now. Hell, I emulate it now more than I ever did. I smile at trailer parks and American flags. The same applies to her videos. Essentially, she is lip-syncing to her web-cam, like many 13-year-olds on YouTube. And yet I see these videos and get so mesmerized and drooly over her creative process and visual art and passion for creation. The cool thing is that I don't think you can even consider it a bias based on my love of her music--she just actually does homemade lip-syncing videos in an interesting way.

Naw, i wouldn’t go that far and say that i corrected you. We’re just talking and exchanging ideas here. You stated your opinion, i disagreed with it and i explained why. Your opinion is no less valid or correct than mine or anyone else’s. And no need to apologize for your post, haa.

Continuing on this subject though, because i think there's a lot of good stuff to talk about here, something i love so much about Lana Del Rey is how much of a ‘90s/early 2000s kid she is. Nirvana, Britney Spears, Guns N' Roses, Biggie Smalls, but with that very crucial component of having one foot planted firmly in the past, and all the inspirations and obsessions that come along with that--Elvis, Americana, old Hollywood, etc. She’s a little too old to have grown up with the internet and YouTube, but she’s still very much a product of it. That is just so apparent in all her homemade videos. And part of that is the whole webcam aesthetic: kids sitting in their poorly-lit room in front of the computer, un-self-consciously hamming up the camera, knowing you’re alone in your room, that no one is looking, you’ve got your ridiculous wigs on and you’re dancing like a fool. There are no pretenses there about the “right” lighting and camera angles and even picture quality. Forget that, leave that to the people who already shot the footage that she’s stealing and splicing into her videos. And i even love the fact that rather than, say, scouring for old VHS videos at the library and thrift stores, she just gets the footage directly off of YouTube, including the atrocious quality and compression artifacts. It’s like she’s wearing it on her sleeve and reminding us that she’s of her generation and time. It’s great, i don’t think she’s trying to fool anyone or pretend as if she transcends her era or anything. And i think this is where a lot of the magic in her whole persona, artistry, and aesthetic comes in--that highly idiosyncratic conflation of influences, styles, and ethos that form something without precedent. She is neither here nor there, but at the same time, as i mentioned before, she’s totally right here in the present, sort of holding a mirror up to the past--albeit a highly romanticized one. She could not have materialized as the artist we have come to know as Lana Del Rey any other way or time but the here and now.

Oh, and what you said about how she pushes your buttons...that, too, is why i’m here right now. She’s flawed and a lot of her choices are rather questionable. But that’s exciting. I don't want some perfect package that is always doing the right and artistically-sound thing. I want the hiccups, missteps, the warts and all. The Brite Lites video, a little embarrassing? Sure. And like you yourself said, awkward. But that’s a real person sitting in their home without any pretenses, and that sort of clumsy, incongruous pairing of music style and imagery is refreshingly baffling and inviting. At least i think so.
