i think you all just need to come to terms with the fact that from this point on she will very much become a niche act. she may get the occasional top 10 hit here and there sometimes, but ultimately shes going to be an artist who will do well first week across the globe album wise and then fall off soon after simply for the fact that she doesnt have as strong a mainstream appeal for high sales.
 
yes she doesnt promote blah blah blah, but even if she did i really dont think we'd be seeing a major shift in exposure for her work really.
 
shes a creation of the internet, thats her biggest tool for her work. her videos get good hits on youtube, and promo she has seems to be relegated to her online community.

 
but really, how much promo is the hotline doing outside of the people who will already buy her album anyway. lets be real, no ones bothering to call a damn honeymoon hotline every week unless theyre a stan. it was a cute idea but its pointless as far as promo.

I mean I get it how she hates doing promo but she's going to sacrifice her career if she's keeps going like that. Right now GP still hypes over her to some degree because her well-known songs are relatively recent but what happens in 10 years? If she's going to keep releasing albums with such little promo she's bound to fade into obscurity. Obviously she's going to have a fanbase but I'm afraid GP will lose interest in her and even some of the fans will maybe give up. I'm not trying to be bitter or anything, I'm genuinely wondering what Lana's mindset seems to be when it comes to the future of her career

Am I the only one who thinks that when Lana dyes her hair dark that she has moved on to a not so good place in her life? Yes? No? I know, quite a reach.
 
But so far, she really needs to step her game up with this album. HBTB is great, TLY is pretty, HM is pretty but a bit jarring. MTWBT will probably disappoint because everybody has such high expectations for it.
 
Idk, when I heard West Coast, Shades Of Cool and Brooklyn Baby for the first time, I thought they were career-highlights. These songs so far are far from it. They are all nice and I will buy the album, but idk.
 
You can say that she saves the best when the album drops, but that would be so NOT her. And there is no build-up, no teasing, nothing to get me excited and we all know, she will vanish after the release.

I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but it's my opinion so I'm just gonna post it here.
 
The first time I heard HBTB I really hated it. It was one of the biggest let-downs I've ever experienced. But now, almost a month later, I think it's one of her best songs (not THE best, but I think it's up there).

i think its good promo considering everyone with an instagram can see it. other businesses like Hollister Co. do promo like this. so maybe Interscope is leaning towards lanas side after all

Going back to the gapless album idea, I just had a thought. The High By The Beach album version is 4:18, but the instrumental is 4:25. There's no audio silence in the end of the instrumental, so maybe that last 7ish seconds is in the beginning of Freak? 
Gapless album instrumentals usually are separate like this, too.

This thread is a nope, from me. This is all personal opinions lol. I do think she's a good songwriter, but she's more a great artist in general, her melodies can fix a bad lyric for me and sometimes i don't really mind them being bad or cringeworthy because the melody is good or how she's singing them 

Personally I feel like it's not fair to prejudge Lana based on her song titles because standalone some of them are truly awful ie "Brooklyn Baby" i stg... and yet, that's one of my favorite songs on UV.
