I think the thing she has going against her is time, if she had released cry baby in 2015, k-12 in 2017, third album/movie in 2020 and the fourth and final album/movie in 2021/2 it would’ve felt more cohesive but because of that 4 year gap between CB and K-12 I think a lot of her fans changed, not as in different people became fans of her but more her fans grew up, 4 years is a long time when you’re a teenager/in your early 20s. So for her to come back into the limelight the EXACT same (bc obviously cry baby is a character) it was like oh...you’re still doing this
 
Personally I like K-12, I just think it came out too late which I know wasn’t her fault and it’s sad that she kinda has to suffer for it but it is what it is, I’ll still watch/listen to whatever she comes out with but yeah I’m not this huge stan I once was

The fact she also sat on this record for 4 years and then it was, well, "that", doesn't help. I'll give her the kudos that the movie actually looks EXPENSIVE and it is "well made" (even with some amateur flaws, but it was also "her debut" directing something like that so it's totally alright) but the story\script itself is just trash and it felt like "Look at all this money I've got from the label!! I'm gonna BURN IT."
 
The story is bad. I'm still unsure of how\why she decided to go full Matilda-XMen. It would have been better if she dropped the record and then took her time to make the movie, making it also last "longer" as an Era. Cry Baby was fun (at least until like... Pacify Her and then Mad Hatter taking one year was just bad) because of the overflown of content, that also helped building her name out there. Her art direction is, however, really fantastic.
 
 
Randomly got Strawberry Shortcake stucked in my head this last week. The good songs here are really alright. Strawberry Shortcake, Highschool Sweet Hearts, Lunchbox Friends, Detention (?). I can't remember the rest at all apart from knowing I loathe Show & Tell. 
It missed some variety I guess. It feels like they really grabbed some stems from Cry Baby and decided "yep we'll build all the songs we can using these". Feels very "one note"

concept albums are so tricky especially having to do a music video for 13 songs it always drags out for a long time and each music video progressively lacks creativity, gets cheaper and the audience loses interest. same thing that happened with cry baby happened with electra heart by marina, they both started out really strong then after about 5 videos a year or two goes by the labels don't want to fund it anymore and the fans want something new. 

the plot of k-12 is so useless like we get it you're going to school, the teachers suck, the popular girls are mean to you ... i wish she would've went more beyonce style where she just narrates over certain parts that lead into each song or even something like tropico that doesn't necessarily need acting or character dialogue but the story still makes sense

i fear for the future of melanie's career and abilities as an artist when her label no longer wants to give her $6 million every time she wants to make a full length movie and decides to drop an album with no singles especially when the movie can barely crack $300k at the box office...

Obviously posting a map of "Greater Albania" is problematic no matter which way you look at it. But after everything the people from this region have been through – and Dua's family literally having to run away and move to the UK – I can't say I'm too surprised. National identity plays a very different role in the former Yugoslavian countries compared to your typical western European country, and Serbia still not recognising Kosovo's independence doesn't exactly help. Overall the situation simply isn't as black and white as some seem to think, so I wish people would do some research before jumping on Twitter and calling her a literal Nazi.

I preordered the cream colored vinyl and you're correct, I received confirmation and they took my payment (according to my bank statement). As of right now, I've received no refund email from Universal Music, so I can only assume the preorder purchase was legit

It's probably mostly just meant for the UK (+ Europe/Australia) anyway, since Break Your Heart has already peaked here, whereas the US is a bit behind. Then the next single (I'm assuming that'll be the Levitating remix) should be a "global" single again. The only question is – did they shoot the video for Hallucinate beforehand, alongside the others? Or was it shot recently, which would mean it's more of a DIY kinda affair due to lockdown and social distancing regulations.

not this tired video... halsey's corny at times but she has so much more drive than sky, she's pushed out 3 albums in the time sky's been sitting around blaming her record label and giving us empty promises. halsey also gave us the classics that are nightmare and experiment on me, she's redeemed herself from her old antics.

I'm afraid to say that the Halshit fans might've won.. I mean Sky makes better music, is more talented etc but Halsey released 3 whole albums since NTMT and Sky hasn't even been able to get an EP out since NTMT
 
I'm not a fan of Halsey and I'll always prefer the Sky music but at least Halsey is able to.. get music out.

I wasn't even only talking about The Principal either lol. I was just using it as an example of other songs on the album relating to Melanie's life.

The Principal is one of my favs on the album. It's a whole bop and the orchestral instruments are so nice to listen to. It has a good metaphor too.

You're allowed to not like The Principal and other K-12 songs, but saying that some of these songs were just made to fill up time in the film and don't have any connections to Melanie's life is strange considering the fact that for most of the songs you did not mention, that is clearly not the case.

This is just a weird and confusing post for multiple reasons. Songs like The Principal among others that you didn't mention in your list are connected to Melanie's life at the time she was writing the song so I don't see your point.
