WTWWAWWKD-- it mixes a sweet, old-fashioned sound and themes (almost WWI-ish to me; curls and corsets and such) with a more modern, loose sound ("throw your hands up and get loose", "lean into the fucking youth"). Aside from that, her high vocals are threatening to kill me deader than Honeymoon (Get Free and TNC are close runner-ups for me, though)

I hear "take the dead out of the sea", in reference to the Dead Sea. I think it fits well with the next line, "and the darkness from the arts". i.e., take the dead out of the dead sea and the darkness from the dark arts

I would be upset about Yosemite, Architecture, Roses Bloom for You, and all the unrealized aspects of this era... But, instead, I'm finally pumped for this era! I've been so ambivalent about the new music and directions, but I'm really starting to get into it. We've got two really GREAT (imo) songs, and apparently there's plenty more on the record-- I'm practically already crying over vocals on WTWWAWWKD So, keep faith, because everything leaks eventually! I'm super excited about "where we're headed"

I don't think anyone has ever drawn so much of the potential and beauty out of Lana's lyrics, ideas, and concepts as David Kahne. We're lucky to have so many demos and early versions of AKA tracks, because it often show how David elevated and smoothed out tracks that were already incredible. I believe there was a very special relationship between Kahne and Lana that added true magic to their work together. Mertens and Justin Parker are personal favorites, but I think Kahe wins out in terms of quality.

The beginning of the snippet reminds me of the beginning of Dance for Money Edit: actually the whole snippet reminds me of that part in DFM when the beat comes in for a sec and she says "I can be your summertime/baby you can call me May"

Kind of jarring... but interesting! I'm just wondering how he happened across a May Jailer song... I imagine that either he or someone he knows stans Lana, or, probably more likely, he had the body of the song done, and wanted to sample a song, so started searching for "going out with a bang" and found it-- hence the reason the transitions and flow feel so choppy

If you had to associate a single image, symbol, or other visual to each track from a Lana album, what would you choose? I began thinking about this because, one day, I'd like to get a tattoo themed around AKA, presuming I still love it in the future-- and, so, since it would be so hard to distill into a single image, I thought about what symbols could represent each track, taking inspiration from the sound, the lyrics, and even the videos. Diet Mountain Dew, for me-- it's sweet, infectious, and full of classic Lana themes. Plus, imo, it's the closest to a Lizzy track that she released after AKA
