What is your favorite snippet from LFL?
sparklrtrailrheaven replied to reputation's topic in Lana Thoughts
WTWWAWWKD-- it mixes a sweet, old-fashioned sound and themes (almost WWI-ish to me; curls and corsets and such) with a more modern, loose sound ("throw your hands up and get loose", "lean into the fucking youth"). Aside from that, her high vocals are threatening to kill me deader than Honeymoon (Get Free and TNC are close runner-ups for me, though) -
I hear "take the dead out of the sea", in reference to the Dead Sea. I think it fits well with the next line, "and the darkness from the arts". i.e., take the dead out of the dead sea and the darkness from the dark arts

edit: nvm they changed the description

I would be upset about Yosemite, Architecture, Roses Bloom for You, and all the unrealized aspects of this era... But, instead, I'm finally pumped for this era! I've been so ambivalent about the new music and directions, but I'm really starting to get into it. We've got two really GREAT (imo) songs, and apparently there's plenty more on the record-- I'm practically already crying over vocals on WTWWAWWKD So, keep faith, because everything leaks eventually! I'm super excited about "where we're headed"

I don't think anyone has ever drawn so much of the potential and beauty out of Lana's lyrics, ideas, and concepts as David Kahne. We're lucky to have so many demos and early versions of AKA tracks, because it often show how David elevated and smoothed out tracks that were already incredible. I believe there was a very special relationship between Kahne and Lana that added true magic to their work together. Mertens and Justin Parker are personal favorites, but I think Kahe wins out in terms of quality.

"Summer Bummer" + "Groupie Love" Snippets Surfaces
sparklrtrailrheaven replied to reputation's topic in New Releases
The beginning of the snippet reminds me of the beginning of Dance for Money Edit: actually the whole snippet reminds me of that part in DFM when the beat comes in for a sec and she says "I can be your summertime/baby you can call me May" -
New Single "Summer Bummer" Out Soon
sparklrtrailrheaven replied to Say Yes to Heaven's topic in New Releases
if there's one thing the lust for life era has taught me -
She just did a livestream and mentioned that although she hasn't put out her first album yet, she's headed to the studio and is working on her second one (She also asked "are we even going to NC?" and completely forgot that she was coming here on tour )

Pretty sure the good sis @SwayTokyo is, but I don't think he's ever mentioned being a Kali fan

and even that set is like... not just one set lmao

The video is incredible She's nailing this aesthetic. I'm stanning this era way harder than LFL, honestly. She's slowly eclipsing Lana for me, in terms of how excited I am for the directions she's going in. And she's playing a venue an hour from where I live in October :defeated: Tickets for her show are only gonna be $18 at this place, so even my broke self can afford to see her!!!!! I'm so thrilled she's seriously one of my top 3 fav artists, alongside Lana and David Bowie, and Bowie's dead, so

Kind of jarring... but interesting! I'm just wondering how he happened across a May Jailer song... I imagine that either he or someone he knows stans Lana, or, probably more likely, he had the body of the song done, and wanted to sample a song, so started searching for "going out with a bang" and found it-- hence the reason the transitions and flow feel so choppy

I was going to try and fix whatever votes were messed up, but I have no motivation, and no one seems to care, so 1949 (Demo) - 13 All Smiles - 11 Axl Rose Husband - 12 Baby Blue Love - 6 (-) Bentley - 11 Betty Boop Boop - 7 Bollywood Hawaii ("Maha Maha" Demo) - 8 Born Bad Baby ("Kinda Outta Luck" Demo) - 6 C U L8R Alligator - 12 Coca Colla - 11 Criminals Run the World - 10 Crooked Cop - 9 Cry Me a River - 9 Dance for Money - 12 (+) Dangerous Girl (Demo) - 9 Daytona Meth - 11 Elvis - 12 Greenwich - 12 Hangin' Around - 10 Heartshaped Chevrolet - 11 Hollywood Movie - 10 I Was in a Bad Way - 9 Joshy & I - 11 Living Without You ("TV in Black & White" Demo) - 10 Methamphetamines - 10 Midnite Dancer Girlfriend ("Go Go Dancer" Demo) - 8 Motel 6 (Acapella Demo) - 8 Never Let Me Go (Demo) - 11 Noir - 4 Party Girl - 10 Put Your Lips Together - 10 Slow Gin Fizzz ("Motel 6" Acoustic Demo) - 10 So Legittt - 10 Super Movie - 14 White Pontiac Heaven - 10 Your Band is All the Rage - 10 You're Gonna Love Me - 15

If you had to associate a single image, symbol, or other visual to each track from a Lana album, what would you choose? I began thinking about this because, one day, I'd like to get a tattoo themed around AKA, presuming I still love it in the future-- and, so, since it would be so hard to distill into a single image, I thought about what symbols could represent each track, taking inspiration from the sound, the lyrics, and even the videos. Here's some ideas I had for the AKA tracks, in the context of a tattoo: Kill Kill - Hibiscus flower Queen of the Gas Station - 7/11 sign Oh Say Can You See - American flag Gramma - Blue ribbon (like the kind at a state fair) For K, Pt. 2 - Guitar Jump - Black-and-white palm tree Mermaid Motel - Ferris Wheel at Coney Island Raise Me Up - Pickup truck or shotgun Pawn Shop Blues - Golden earrings or an orange (???) Brite Lites - A spotlight, maybe? A stripper pole? Put Me in a Movie - A film strip or movie camera Smarty - Christmas lights Yayo - Black motorcycle I'm interested to hear what symbols you all think could represent different tracks! Have fun!

Diet Mountain Dew, for me-- it's sweet, infectious, and full of classic Lana themes. Plus, imo, it's the closest to a Lizzy track that she released after AKA
