Norman Fucking Rockwell - Pre-Release Thread

How is this even related to NFR in any way?

But yeah, Marina and Troye totally can't sing, like wow, my ears are actually bleeding right now.

I don't know why people still waste their time on them? They could be stanning the reincarnation of Whitney Houston instead:

This bitch better not drop Happiness Is A Butterfly as the lead with THAT homemade video sometime in June with the album coming in summer.

Also, does this mean she's doing a LFL? Ben saying she's finishing the music?

More than likely, a lot of factors could've played into it. I think what happened is she played the album for her management/label and they didn't like it.

Ugh, I miss 2012-2015 Lana where she just did what she wanted. They probably didn't like UV or HM but they're her greatest yet... I bet they liked LFL though.

I’m afraid of that. But she had to put her foot down with Ultraviolence, so why can’t she now?

If she holds resentment towards her songs being leaked that she supposedly did not want out there, why does she draw attention to them by performing them (Serial Killer, Us Against The World, Paradise, Pawn Shop Blues for some fans, Hollywood on IG live, promising to do Wayamaya, etc) & saying she'll release an album full of them someday. She doesn't want them out there, but then she does? Ok.

Anyways I've never seen a team so mad at the idea of grabbing some easy cash from willing fans. If the album is delayed due to needing extra recording time why didn't Lana mention that vital piece of information weeks ago. The fact that she hasn't jumped in on this to say something while her managers act like children on Instagram (though her behavior in general hasn't been much better) proves she doesn't give one fuck about the disrespect she and her team put out there.

She can DM Spin Magazine and tell them to fuck themselves over a non-factor opinion regarding her boring answers in interviews but she can't tell Billboard & Elle Magazine to omit the rumored March release from their articles. I have to laugh.

She had to change producers with UV and make other cuts, I'm 100 percent ok with label interference if it means we get actual effort. They may have thought it was under-produced and uninteresting

-but please remember this is just my speculation-

This isn't 100 percent true she really did have to fight for that album, but she got the producer she wanted in the end whereas her label wanted her to work with adeles producer for the album which wasn't to her vision.

But it always felt like the changes were her choice if you know what I mean...

  • Her arranging to meet Dan and then re-recording the whole album after doing a couple of songs.
  • Releasing West Coast as the lead single even though it's too slow for radio.
  • Changing the director of the Ultraviolence music video cos she wasn't happy.
  • Releasing Honeymoon only a year after UV with minimum promotion.
  • High By The Beach being the lead single - again difficult for radio with references to drugs.
  • Best American Record being planned as a 6minute single.
  • Calling the new album Norman Fucking Rockwell
  • Wanting to drop Venice Bitch (10 minute song) as a lead single.

The LFL era felt more controlled, LFL being the second single, the merch, Summer Bummer being a single. It all felt very forced. Even the whole happiness, smiling on the album cover etc. And now I'm worried that this is happening with NFR... First interfering with her artistic vision (the album cover, we don't know what it was... she said it was lazy but doesn't mean it wasn't good) and now potentially making her record new music or having the record reworked.

Either way that is probably NFR's fate. If Jack made a bunch of boring tracks like Hope I realllllyyyyy hope Interscope said no

Dan Auerbach said Interscope wouldn't release Ultraviolence until Lana met up with Adele's producer. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/how-lana-del-rey-fought-to-get-her-radical-ultraviolence-lp-released-236453/

Lana also said that when she got signed, she told Jimmy Iovine that "this type of music" (referring to Honeymoon specifically) is all she will ever do. https://pitchfork.com/features/interview/life-liberty-and-the-pursuit-of-happiness-a-conversation-with-lana-del-rey/

So they're aware.

She probably just wants to add more tracks to this album. Interscope approved Coachella so they'll approve anything at this point. Doubt there's conflict regarding music.

Yes... when you're signed to a major label like she is they expect a certain level of promotion/commercialism. Putting curse words in your album title is tacky, and BAR is lowkey boring. They want to make the money they put into an album. LFL was how a normal era should go.

Unpopular opinion on this NFR era but I actually don't mind the wait and I think everyone should just kind of............relax. We have three studio version songs to hold us over until the record is released along with three additional live songs to listen to that are unreleased. Lana is teasing music/poetry because she is excited and proud of her work. It really hasn't been thaaaat long since LFL was released (compared to how most artists release music) so I think we should just kind of chill out. She's given us A LOT.

Also -- I have a feeling y'all wouldn't be happy if she didn't tease anything at all and instead was completely silent on social media about new music. Y'all are never happy. Go take a drive and listen to VB on repeat x  :kiss3:  Love u all anyway and your frustrations are valid, just a bit..... much

Side note: We are in the era of streaming. Big record releases and label orchestrated "eras" are not necessarily the status quo anymore and I have a feeling they are going to die off as time progresses. It kind of seems obvious and makes sense that this is the way we are getting new music for now (as "fan singles")

It's not like she couldn't go indepedent and get a distribution deal with promo and such if she wanted to,the problem is she has gotten too comfortable and afraid of what can happen.

She doesn't want to do promo at all which I'm sure creates conflict with her management/label.

I agree to an extent, in terms of interviews, music videos, photoshoots etc.

However the music we got that era was her weakest cos she was trying to appeal to the GP.

The music wasn't even that weak, stans are just dramatic, LFL is a good album and will probably be better than NFR

Want a cookie? This era has been messy, unprofessional and dishonest no matter how you look at it.
