Beautiful Loser

I can't believe she had the nerve to switch her new song for that horrible LATTMT rendition of NA, I feel so sorry for you guys. :creep:

I agree but tbh I am surprised she did Doin' Time live at all. I really didn't think it'd be a song that she would ever do live ... will be interesting to see if she performs it during the rest of this tour or if that's it.

She really has no sense of what fans actually want, though (or just doesn't care) ... like I very much doubt most of the people there wanted to hear NA over Doin' Time ...

ur legit gonna look the same stop buying oil of Olay face cream

Omg I noticed and I felt like hugging you but I wasn’t sure if it was just irritated eyes or the song, because some smoke machines made my eyes irritated earlier, and now I feel like I should’ve hugged you, I’m sorry. ;-; Black Beauty made me teary-eyed too (maybe because I saw you getting emotional) but the tears fell during Ride instead. :poordat:

You’re such a nice and kind guy, I can’t thank you enough for writing me that long DM calming me down before the festival and taking care of me today and keeping me company. And I haven’t forgotten when you offered to sell me a LATTM ticket either. You’re a kind soul, thank you so, so much! :krylie:

Edit: Wait, maybe it was a good thing that I didn’t hug you, maybe you needed a moment for yourself. ;-;

dw baby im fine now, and its not like u ciuld have known haha

hope to see u again soon bby

Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter. writes:

EuGpkPv.jpg

When Lana Del Rey appears on stage, somewhat late, [...] it feels like the delay probably is because she was waiting for the sun to set a little more. Del Rey does sound the best in dusk after all.

When the concert starts is the video, which is projected behind the biggest ballad songstress of our time during her concert, black and white and depictures a deserted beach where heavy, fateful, dramatic ocean waves crash against the sand. I can’t think of a better symbol for the moods she wants to create and which moods she wants to play on (Clampi’s comment: with?).

Despite, or perhaps thanks to, that she’s born in the urban New York, she understands maybe better than anyone else the melancholy in being sad and lonely on just that beach, a place which most others would associate with joy and laughter.

She sings about “summer sadness”, about how summer fades unavoidably, with her light girl-pop voice at the same time as the guitars pulls another dark wave to her and a drama emerges in that contrast which only she is able to create. And she knows exactly how to use it.

Her concert is fantastic.

This review is NOT by that music journalist I kinda know (that one who looooves Lana as much as we do), so this means she was really good! This reporter liked Lana’s performance the best yesterday.

Another review, by Aftonbladet:

u6QLBLU.jpg

4/5

Length: 61 minutes

Best: Mariners Apartment Complex and Ride

Worst: That she is ten minutes late and has to scrap one song

In Lana Del Rey’s world it’s always lounge-drunk August dusk next to some swimming pool in Hollywood Hills which hasn’t been renovated since the 60’s.

To set us in that mood, she has filled Lollapalooza’s second largest stage with palm trees, white and red striped sun beds and a golden piano. Two combined dancers and choir girls are wearing play suits which matches the sun beds.

Appropriately enough, the sky over Gärdet becomes more and more deep blue and orange the further the concert passes. That blues underneath the sun, in a old fashioned Americana dress which the 34-year old Elizabeth Woolridge Grant now has planted and refined in almost ten years and on five albums (a sixth, “Norman fucking Rockwell”, will come later this year) is no longer new, but thanks to her sense of fashion(?? Can someone translate “stilkänsla” because I doubt the reporter means that...) and consequence, it feels as thrilling as ever.

And it certainly needs its artist to stay cool with this kind of low intense, swaying pop romance through a whole set. But Lana Del Rey has a rare ability to draw everyone’s eyes on her just by standing still on a stage.

She walks slowly on stage, hangs a little bit by the piano or crawls up in one of the sun beds. In “Pretty when you cry”, she lies down on stage and sings. In “Ride”, she’s on a swing.

They’re small gestures but the feelings beneath that veiled voice are a lot greater, and I suppose that’s why, in combination with some of the past decades most beautiful pop melodies, which makes a sea of cellphones to fill the air and the singalong to be loud, not at least during the old “Video games”.

The technicolor colored retro aesthetic could horribly easy get stuck in pretty but empty poses. But it’s enough to see the blissful smiles on the fans’ faces at the front who gets records, jackets and Vogue covers signed during the protracted final song “Venice bitch” to understand that there is certainly more here.

Lana Del Rey may be a skillfully built character but her music affects for real.

Live version of Venice Bitch has a big dick energy

I knowwwww, those drums, ugh! :defeated: And that guitar! :trisha: I felt like I was the only one bopping along to the song while Lana was busy with the crowd lol.

To be honest, everyone around me was screaming out loud they want National Anthem!! Even the guys who were singing along to all the songs including mariners and VB, so those who I’d expect to be true stans or at least interested in her enough to learn all the lyrics to the newer less promoted songs ‍♀

Aw man, that’s unfortunate :/

As we've already saw, VB already became Lana's best closer in her live concerts so that makes it even more so, the best potential closer for NFR.  :usrs:

it might just be me but i feel like she enjoys her shows more and puts a little more effort into them (compared to lattm shows), and i love it. and venice bitch as a closer is perfect, it's a spiritual experience, i watched clips of her performing it on insta last night and i was so overwhelmed that i couldn't fall asleep for hours, and i wasn't even there lol

Still from my video recording of Venice Bitch. Tried to watermark it because fan accounts have apparently used the other picture I shared earlier...

Btw, she did a "wave" hand motion when she sang "catch a wave and take in the sweetness" again, maybe she'll keep doing it. It's cute. :flutter:

so I still can't get the fact that I have now finally seen Lana live. I sacrificed Billie to not be too far away from the front row, I managed to get the third front row spot. Good enough. I was not feeling very good though and it was so fucking boring just to stand there and wait for more than 2 hours. All alone. I was promised to not be left alone at the festival (and me wanting too see Lana, was THE only reason the people I arrived to Lolla with, even went there, lmao. Luckily it wasn't that bad to spend 90% of the time at Lollapalooza all alone, not by choice though lol. But... I guess that's another story and doesn't really belong in this thread.)

So how am I going to keep this short... ok I can't, sorry. Here's my... experience slash rant:

VERY tall people were in front of me. Fucking Russians or something (or Polish, idk. But they're going by the name "The Russians", I hope you don't read this lmao, if you do: I'm sorry.) Who were looking at me all the time and more than likely talking SHIT about me. Like, do you THINK I want to be this close behind you? Nah-ah. I REALLY tried, with all my strenght, to make them let me stand BESIDE them. I did not want to be rude in anyway, only I wanted to actually SEE something. But that was very unsucceful lol. Sorry but WHY do super tall people need to be in the front :( . I thought "it's not my fault I'm short!" and then realized maybe they're thinking "iT's NoT OuR FauLt We'Re TaLL" lol. soo I didn't see SHIT 85% of the time, 15% of the time I tried to stand on my toes, a hurtful experience.

People are like "you should live in the moment and not recoring videos with your phone!" etc. well, I'm GLAD I did record a few things. For example I didn't even know that the National Anthem music video was shown at the "stage screen" or that Lana was walking only a few meters away from me during VB... lol, I only noticed that thanks to my videos.

...and I know I can't say things like this without being a problematic eletistic stan I suppose... but: those damn Russians were basically fake fans. OK no, but they didn't even know the words to all the songs! Well, I know people are annoyed if people are scream-singing the lyrics with Lana but... I myself did it the whole time, maybe I destroyed some people's recordings or maybe even experience.. but it's HARD not to sing along. I truly sang my heart out. It was my first Lana live time and she is one of my two ALL TIME FAV and has been for years. Is that a valid excuse?

So what about LANA: annoyed that she was late so we didn't get to hear Doin Time................. :(  and yeah, a quite boring setlist overall. Too much old hits. Although I'm glad I have now heard BTD, National Anthem, OTTR and PWYC live (being four of my favs). The weird thing is I don't remember that much tbh? It's like a dream. Like it still hasn't happened.

I was sooo nervous, anxious,  the days before and on Friday. Why? I was worried that something would go wrong and that I wouldn't get to see Lana. hahah. It went fine though. obviously. I mean... except I was on my very own and that was boring af, I didn't see anything and just felt like almost faiting afterwards (I ate too little that day so, it's my own fault lol). But her perfomace: I got to see her after 6 years. I have cried because every time she's been in Sweden before I have missed it all. I did cry, of hapiness during Born To Die. People were looking at me ugly crying and that might have been the only time in my life I didn't care what anyone thought I looked like. In that very moment. I can't describe the feeling that I had before days, weeks, and months when it was actually time, but it's like it wasn't such a big deal after all... Maybe that's how things reallly are because Lana is just a human being too... idk.

So it's almost two weeks left and all I can think of is that I'm gonna die lol. I'll try to stay at the stage all day and get to the front by the time Lana comes on, and I hope I can make some friends around me to save me my spot whenever I need a restroom break, but like, I'm worried that I won't at the same time hasndkssnhdj I'm nervous. :deadbanana:  Is anyone else going alone or wants to say hi to me, please do, I'll try to pimp up a denim jacket with Lana on the back for this event so if you see me... please save my spot. :poordat:

I would have loved to meet you! I don't know a single person irl that likes Lana and you seem so nice. Actually I thought of you. Being the only Swede that I can think on, who I ""know"" on Lanabords. I felt like log in here and send a message to you, at Lollapalooza, buuut since it was basically impossible to get internet connection I didn't.

My phone just broke just a few days before it was time for Lolla, and at the same time there was no wifi for anyone in my neighberhoud where I live so I was like totally social media isolated for a couple of days lol.... and I haven't had the time to be on here fore like 3 weeks honestly. It might would have been been fun to meet some LB users. (But I guess I don't dare to actually do such a random thing but I thought of doing it. Who knows, maybe sometime.)

I'm sorry you had a bad experience but

tall people are something you have to be prepared for when you don't have a seating ticket. It sucks, but that's how it is. They probably were fans too (maybe they wanted to hear Lana better and didn't sing along - who knows) and although they're tall, they absolutely have the right to be at the front if they were there to claim it.

My brothers are tall and I recall a U2 concert we had been queing for since afternoon (and I before lunch because I have time to get to the venue earlier) and we got front row. A lady with high heels who had obviously been at work complained that they were too tall and shouldn't stay so close to the stage. Same situation there, we came earlier and got the spots we wanted, she didn't.

Too bad I didn't get to meet you! I was lucky and had @ for company the whole day which made the waiting easier (and the fact that I was interested in the first band on the stage that day). But if I wasn't going with him, I think I would've done the same anyway, run for the stage and stay there all day and try to befriend some people around me. Maybe next time! :)

My phone has died as well, haha, I think the battery has been swelling for like 3 months or so, so the screen was getting detatched from the frame. Now it's dead and I didn't even save my videos and pictures from the festival. : ))))))) Oh well. At least I had a good time.

can't quote you and post something, idk why but: @Clampigirl

Actually I did not have a bad experience!  :)  Even though it may sound like it. Well partly it was, but overall it was OK, really. I was just annoyed because the people in front on me, not only did block my sight (ofc they have the right to be there too! I will probably be forever annoyed at that, but well I am overexaggerating and partly just joking, though the "Russians"... I think they truly talked shit about me with each other, supposedly because well yeah people (maybe everyone?) in the audience was accidently touching each other all the time lol. Could be wrong but it really felt that they hated me and said to each other how ugly and dumb, lonley loser I was for was "trying to take their place" or something. :deadbanana:

I hope I don't come off as mean-spirited, I'm really not. I should really be happy that I ran straight from Bay Stage after Brockhampton (the audience was kinda crazy, so I couldn't get out of there earlier lmao) to Tower Stage to get a good spot. Meaning: I did just wait fore a little more than two (even though it felt like five) hours for Lana. (I thought it would be wayyyyyy more people there!l ) It is pretty good for the first time seeing (except the irony of not seeing much lmao!) her live, for me, AND I didn't even wait there the whole day!

I saw Junior Brielle too (been loving them ever since that day tbh) and I almost died inside, but of excintment (+ slightly panic) when they mentioned Lana's dressing room. Will never forget that little moment   :flutter:

I'm so sorry that you don't have any footage left and that your phone died! I know the pain of that. But: happy you had a good time!

If I get a little prettier can I be your baby?
