TheBoss 13,517 Posted October 21, 2019 I'm not sure if it's being talked that much on international media, because God knows that our national media is being 100% controlled. I thought it was important to share it so international countries can be aware of the magnitude of the situation. Due to my english not being that good, I searched everywhere for a quick summary of what's happening on Chile right now and I found this Twitter thread that basically explains the main problemas and concerns. https://twitter.com/_SE0KJ1N_/status/1185335209505492993 There's also some really good articles dome by The Guardian about the situation 18 October: Mass fare-dodging expands into city-wide protest https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/oct/18/chile-students-mass-fare-dodging-expands-into-city-wide-protest 19 October: President declares state of emergency, violence escalates https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/oct/19/chile-protests-state-of-emergency-declared-in-santiago-as-violence-escalates 21 October: Protest rage despite president's retreat over subway fare increase https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/oct/20/chiles-president-reverses-fare-increase-as-unrest-continues The amount of violence that has been registered on camera is outstanding, it feels like Pinochet's dictatorship all over again, I'll link a few clips in case you want to check the factual reality that is not being presented on Chilean media and probably overseas too. https://twitter.com/PiensaPrensa/status/1185749320126984192 (Military violently hitting citizens in Valparaiso) https://twitter.com/PiensaPrensa/status/1186062748339322883 (Protestors helping others wo have been shot, one of them died) https://twitter.com/PiensaPrensa/status/1186046868658278402 (Armed forces draggin iside a van a person who got shot) https://twitter.com/PiensaPrensa/status/1185952963505917953 (Peaceful protestors repressed by armed forces) https://twitter.com/PiensaPrensa/status/1185614759015735297 (Protestors being run down by a car) https://twitter.com/PiensaPrensa/status/1185614759015735297 (Cop hitting a citizen with his car and then crashing) https://twitter.com/PiensaPrensa/status/1185990085227024385 (The aftermath of the last clip) https://twitter.com/PiensaPrensa/status/1186104137840238594 (Cops picking up peaceful citizens arrested and violently dragging them inside regular cars, just like it was in dictatorship) https://twitter.com/PiensaPrensa/status/1186043057877200902 (Armed forces shooting and dragging shot people around the streets) https://twitter.com/PiensaPrensa/status/1185659094746750979 (Old man playing harp inside a burned public bus)
Ivory Cricket 353 Posted October 21, 2019 This is intense. Thank you for taking the time to put this and all the links. You are absolutely correct that national media isn't posting any of this.

Gone user 5,373 Posted October 21, 2019 Be safe hermano! Everything is so wild right now, and it's definitely not ending soon. It was time for the people to rise. It makes me SO FUCKING MAD how the media and the government is controlling everything and making everyone seem like fools. Even other countries are coming here to film fake news, it's fucking infuriating. I just with the best for everyone in this country

TheBoss 13,517 Posted October 22, 2019 @SlowGinFizzzz@HANGINGFROOT@daphnedinkley@Clampigirl Thanks to all of you! I'm just grateful that the situation in my city is not bad at all, yesterday I marched from 8:30 to 19:00 and it was surprisingly pacific, I've never seen so much people united at my city, thousands of thousands all united, it was so moving. We didn't had disturbance from the police either, except around 11:00 when we encountered a water tank and we all stood up in front of it with our arms raised completely pacific and they threw us teargas. Sadly after the march around 100 individuals robbed our local shopping mall, some were detained by the same people marching. I'm so shocked that yesterday was so pacific in my city, due to a march done at Sunday being way more violent, even though people were calm and not threatening that didn't stopped our government to declare martial law on my city Thanks to all of you! TRENCH 15,450 Posted November 18, 2019 Puerto Rico in July teas.. when the island overthrew the governor, it set off a chain reaction in Latin America [not saying the PR issue was a direct influence but nonetheless interesting]. These protests are truly needed
