Lana Del Rey albums as seasons and times of day

Recommended Posts

What seasons and times of day do you associate each Lana Del Rey album with?

I could’ve sworn this was a thread before but I searched on here, on google, and went through pages and couldn’t find anything, so sorry if it already has been made.

  • AKA: Summer (May-July), midday to afternoon
  • BTD: Summer (June-July), nights
  • Paradise: Winter, night
  • Ultraviolence: Summer, night
  • Honeymoon: Fall, early night (8-10pm)
  • LFL: I have no association with this album tbh
  • NFR: Late summer, early fall (August-early October), the progression of evening to sunset to dusk

It’s not about having someone to love me anymore

This is the experience of being an American whore

AKA - summer at night
BTD - spring during the day
Paradise - summer, just summer in general
UV - fall but like november fall, in the evening
Honeymoon - summer like full on in the heat, specifically August
LFL - winter nights, it would make sense for it to give me summer vibes but it has a cold sound
NFR - summer transitioning into fall, starts in the morning w NFR but ends at night w hiadtfawlmth-bihi

I'm sure this thread... already exists somewhere in this forum... still iconic.

Born To Die is like late summer, when things are moving.

Ultraviolence is Winter at night.

Honeymoon is Spring, like having a picnic and drinking expensive wine. But Morning.

Lust For Life also sounds like Spring but Evening\Night

Norman Fucking Rockwell would be autumn. The leaves are falling but you know something's coming to replace it later.

Aka would be early summer. Joyful, going around, trying to get accustomed with the heat lol.

BTD: Mapril. Specifically mid march to the end of April. Rainy, midday

I have a very specific memory (STORYTIME) of Diet Mountain Dew. I got into Lana February/March of 2014. Around this week that year, I was in the mountain with my friends, and it was rainy outside, and I very clearly remember walking around with them, headphones in with my iPod Classes, just VIBIN to DMtnD

Paradise: Rainy, chilly March afternoon

UV: August. Dusk. Very humid outside

Honeymoon: Slightly chilly October night. Full moon overhead on a cloudless night

L4L: Hot summer day. Dry heat. Noon

NFR!: Late August day in Texas. Very hot. Midday.
BUT ALSO

cooler day in the Northeast. Early September. Mid-morning

Btd: evening/early hours.
Paradise: sunset time.
UV: midnight.
HM: late afternoon, or early midday
LFL: midnight.
NFR: early morning. pre-sunrise.

sirens: early fall/early spring, when it is still chilly out, and also on a cloudy day, either from morning to the evening depending on the song

aka: summertime, afternoon, this album brings me back to a very blissful time of my life, so there's also that

born to die: winter? tbh i never associated a season or anything like that with this album

paradise: summer? never associated a season/weather with this album either

ultraviolence: summer, really hot, dreary, humid summer. thunderstorms and cloudy late nights

honeymoon: late spring/early summer, where you can feel the delight of growing flowers and trees in the air, morning to midday

lust for life: winter, midday where the sun is shining and it isn't too cold

norman fucking rockwell: late summer transitioning into early fall, still warm out but you can feel the coolness of fall settling in

"Swan Song. It’s on my album Honeymoon. It’s the antithesis of hopefulness. It’s about trying to find beauty in giving up. If I had my way, I would continue to persist in all areas of my life, but it can be quite challenging because I can be too trusting too soon."

Aka: early summer - morning
BTD: summer - midday and night
PD: late summer - evening and night
UV: late autumn and winter - evening
HM: Spring - morning and evening
LFL: Spring - midday
NFR: Autumn - afternoon

I'm not sure why I think about time of day like this. It might be the boldness vs. mellowness of the album.

Besides NFR, all of mine fit in order which was not on purpose but I really like it! Around- about now is the transition from Paradise to UV I guess

ultraviolence is like a summers day at like 4:45, when everything is bright and golden and warm and the vibe feels kind of crisp, like the day is setting and it’s just relaxing i guess. i dunno, it’s hard to describe.

I tend to group her albums into seasons based on reasoning that is purely my own nostalgia and associations lol, so here's how I see it:

Winter: AKA, Ultraviolence, Lust For Life

Spring: Sirens, Chemtrails, Honeymoon

Summer: NFR, Paradise

Fall: Blue Banisters, Born To Die

A lot of Lana's unreleased work reminds me of spring and summer as well

It's always the full albums for me too.

BTD: summer

Paradise: autumn

Ultravilence: winter

Honeymoon: spring

It's so good that they're all in order like that in my mind.

LFL: spring

NFR: autumn or early winter (I really just see it as clear skies and winter where I live has the clearest skies)

CotCC: summer

Bb: honestly not sure, any of them except winter

AKA: summer
