Recommended Posts

Please I prefer no snippet or anything AT ALL.

Just info leaks, rumours & evrrything related to tracklist, songtitles to spice thinhs up a little bit (and for us to confirm that something is really coming).

Everyone's complaining about snippets but considering there has been no solid news for a month & most likely won't be any for a while, beggars can't be choosers:dmd:

to be honest i think this is really good, we're not being kept in a constant state of expectation and disappointment, the album is going to be so fresh. nfr era was just painful. i stood against snippets then and i still do now, it's all going to be worth it when we hear the album. this is way more peaceful for me than it was for any of her albums post honeymoon

I don’t mind snippets but they do need to be posted close to release, like she did in the LFL era (although the less there are, the better it is for the album’s first listen). NFR… man, still love that album but the year before its release… I still have PTSD. You know it’s bad when after that, no matter how long the pre-release was, no matter how messy or disorganized it seemed,  I was still going at it like :”At least it’s not as bad as NFR pre-release era”. If love was rushed released because of the leak, MAC and VB probably were in part to cover her Israël / Middle-Orient shitshow of a post, no matter what she said. Still won’t forgive her for posting so much snippets in October, thinking it was like LFL era and we were so close to release :toofloppy:

If we get snippets, or a snippet trailer, great. If we don't, great.

I have an intuition that Lana is 'over' making pop music, for some reason, perhaps due to her maturity, at least the kind of pop music Lorde made on her last album and Taylor made with 'Gold Rush' on Folklore.

It seems to me that Lana really wants to "say something" now with her music and poetry, and make some kind of 'mature' point, as she did on, say, 'Marriner's Apartment Complex,' 'The Greatest,' 'Hope,' 'White Dress,' 'Yosemite,' 'WFWF,' and 'Arcadia.' Lyrically, I expect more songs in that vein, songs that can be taken seriously, especially by her peers in the music industry.

i think you're right, thats what shes going for

but i don't think its something she needs to go for. she's already respected, she's got...

-legends (bob dylan, joan baez, even priscilla presley lol) shouting her out and giving her props

-her industry peers who like her (lady gaga, katy perry,  kali uchis, jhene aiko, taylor swift, etc....male rappers seem to really like her too lol)

-a generation of new alt girls (billie eilish, halsey, etc) who have said they're inspired by her and openly fangirl (or bite her style *cough cough* lorde)

-ten grammy nominations, plenty of awards, born to die has charted for like 10 years straight, etc etc

i think she has some kind of underdog mentality but it's not really warranted cause she's not an underdog...she's respected, she's acclaimed, she's accomplished. there's nothing left to prove

I agree completely, and don't forget Bruce Springsteen, who is a huge fan and probably knows all her leaked tracks too. She already has the respect of her peers (I'm waiting for Tori Amos to chime in, Yay or Nay).

I will accept whatever comes next, though I would like some tracks that are a little more dramatic, uptempo, and perhaps flippant like 'Serene Queen.'  I've at least liked, if not always loved, all stages of Lana's releases in her LDR persona, but I still think she'll eventually show more strength, not less, when she feels comfortable releasing relatively 'liter' tracks something like 'Summertime Sadness,'  'Hollywood,' or 'Angels Forever.'

I agree with you but I think the issue with her is that she was treated so badly at the beginning of her career that no matter the acclaim (NFR for example) she will always feel not respected enough in the industry :um2:

When she has the praise of Dylan, Baez, and Springsteen, who cares what Kim Gordon thinks? Obviously, not everyone is going to like her music or admire her. That's a given.

I think that while she may be respected within the industry, the majority of the public doesn't like her because of the QFTC & other stuff, if not that, then most tend to look down on her for her earlier work.

well to be fair QFTC and her ensuing awkward racially questionable statements were not a good look, so her reputation did take a hit and i think the criticism is fair in that regard

Totally agree, I think that some sort of apology was warranted but I'm just saying that's probably a big part of her "underdog mentality."

David Lynch, Snoop Dogg, Liam Gallagher, Kanye and Damon Albarn admire her too. It's bizarre to me how at the time when media and critics were tearing her apart, fellow musicians appreciated her talent.
