I HATE this idea for Lana - we don't need Lana Rey Jepsen.

 

I actually was thinking about this the other day, what's next for her after COCC, and with pop getting a resurgence with disco sounds like Dua Lipa, The Weeknd and Kylie Minogue, I was thinking how much would she kill that sound if she put a little bit of effort

 

Something like Meet Me In the Pale Moonlight, Idk, it would be interesting to see her experiment with those sounds, especially since the closest to upbeat modern Lana songs we've gotten are LFL and Doin' Time aka her best cover

 

I'm not asking for her to pull a Carly Rae Jepsen's EMOTION, because that would be too hard, to reach that level of majesty, but a little sax, strings and upbeat synth wouldn't hurt her

I still love LFL! for sure it's not her best effort but it's not a bad record at all, period, I think I'm the only stan of the title track on this site tho

 

That's what I meant with her putting effort tho It's not the genre that is bad, it's just the material, Future Nostalgia and EMOTION for example are still one of the best albums of 2020 and 2015 respectively, not because the genre is  pop it means that it is of bad quality

I love Lana when she is madly in love, and the title track of LFL gives me that. I hope WHF is in that vein.

It's tough to make good pop that doesn't sound soulless, and LFL achieved it IMO. No, it wasn't the spacey - witchy sound or soulful lyrics the demos were about, but let's be honest that after HM, even if I love it with all of my heart, we needed her to shake things up a bit and have a more diverse sound with bigger production.

And not only because of Folklore I've actually had this thought since the release of Wildest Dreams, I truly feel like her voices and lyrics would compliment each other incredibly plus I just know that she would be super critical of her own writing because she would be working with her idol

 

I don't want the two of them on a COCC track, but idk a single remix or something would be cute

In the pop landscape, Taylor is the one I’d think would sound great with her. Their voices would blend well, they respect each other and they both worked with Jack. It could work, so much more than other collabs suggested.

If Taylor feels inspired by Lana so what, that's what having a fellow artist you look up to sounds like lol? Folklore is still an amazing piece of work on her own and she's proven to be an incredible songwriter before

I don’t agree with that / that is not inspiration - that is trying to copy a style and doing it very badly. .

I think she was trying to go for something like “Blue hydrangea cold cash divine cashmere cologne and white sunshine” with the exception that these lyrics actually portray a picture. Taylor’s are just weird associations of words and it’s all just so reminiscent of Lana. Lana is still too relevant for people to copy what she‘s doing without looking like copycats.

No. I think that he has never had any info about an upcoming release. Eclipse or atrl insiders used to give us info. What has happened to Eclipse though?

Éclipse, since NFR, often publishes here, a couple of days prior to the release of something on streaming or YouTube, the lyrics to a new song (or poem), or a brief description of the image that will come up on YT if you look it up. It’s not systemic though (he didn’t post about MAC or VB). I think he keeps really quiet not to get too much attention drawn to himself when he finds something.
