This is why I am probably not that eager for this era to officially start : people will be so disappointed or pissed with Henry. :hillary:

I’ve been a Henry supporter from day one but idk I’m just in the mood right now for upbeat poppy music, a simple guitar ballad feels more like a winter/spring of 2024 thing. Not a spring/summer of 2025 song

This literally is so confusing to me. “Sirens on a budget” but Henry (the literal definition so far of sirens on a budget) is “the change of the album” it makes no sense. Unless Pantene meant lyrically? But even then, change fits LFL pretty well lyrically too

I took it to mean it's not a great representation of the album as whole. Change is a stripped down piano ballad compared to the rest of Lust for Life which bounces between hip hop beats, cinematic orchestra and a spacey retro vibe.

but the album as a whole is “sirens on a budget” so to me Henry seems to fit the bill perfectly :bebe:

Maybe the other songs have fuller, richer production and more ambiance (this is totally wishful thinking on my part). Or perhaps Mr. Pantene is a liar :oopna:

I really like the melody of the snippet and I haven’t listened to it so much, so it’s bearable. I have no expectation for this album, which I hope helps me appreciate it more. When I dive into a Lana era without preconceived idea, it’s when I usually love it more. That being said, I must admit that I agree with you and Henry is not a song I would associate with spring or summer either :um3:

like star like fan I guess :thumb2:

idk I don’t want to say anyone is lying, taste/descriptions are always extremely subjective (LMLYLAW sounds like fine china) so I mean I always take things with a grain of salt, but “sirens on a budget” is a pretty accurate (based off of the one song we’ve been teased) description.

i do have a feeling by the time the album drops the songs will have a richer/fuller production

Pantene is reliable but that being said, the info we got from them, if I recall correctly, they said they hadnt heard the whole thing (they couldn’t confirm a tracklist)… so there’s still hope for a richer / fuller production on some tracks

Neither disappointed, nor surprised that this is the first single, nor am I shocked at the direction she's going for this album. This snippet/single is just giving LMLYAW déjà vu.

She's made it clear she doesn't want to take the grand/bombastic road again. Yeah sure once every blue moon she'll ask Jack to throw some beats in there, and he'll use his 2$ drum set to do so, but that's a whole other discussion.

Anyways, she's going in the direction I expected her to, which is the organic, understated, stripped back route. She's a seasoned act, and this is her vibe now--and at this point in time, I'm at peace with that. I just wish she'd release this single sooner so we'd get over it quickly and just move on.

I wish she would’ve just released this as a one off single back when she posted the first snippet like she did with Take Me Home, Country Roads. That way the single could’ve just been released and not tied down to any album
