well to be fair she was announcing it to a bunch of industry people, not the fans.

Jack saying they've been cooking makes me think the album is close to being finished. Plus, the fact that Lana is now publicly speaking on an album she's been quietly working on for 4 years could mean she's ready to wrap it up and release Lasso.

This is the same woman who announced Norman 11 months before the album came out 

 

She also announced White Hot Forever basically the day after NFR came out, and it came out like 16 months later (yeah yeah COVID and her manic state didn’t help but still) 
 

Her announcing Lasso seems to be completely different though

I know it's only been like two months, but I'm starting to think that things are in fact not going to get crazy...

Maybe it's my delulu but this time really does feel differently  I feel like with Norman she was so excited and inspired by Jack she couldn't resist talking about their work together. She built up the craziest hype in that pre-release. I still have PTSD

I'm optimistic that it's coming in September! They've been working on it for 4 years and only chose to mention it now, which must mean it's nearing completion. I don't think Jack would talk about it as well if they weren't almost done.

I’m really curious what Luke’s involvement is. So far the one Lasso track we have a snippet of isn’t a Jack song, but all the info we’ve gotten about Lasso is all Lana and Jack. 
 

I wonder if she wrote with Luke and then Jack produced (like Tunnel) or if they are both producers and worked separately

Jack Antonoff confirms that Lasso is in fact an actual album and not some made up concept in Lana’s brain.
