I had a bad feeling all this was going to happen after 2 weeks ago when my state in Australia voted for the right-wing major political party. I mean these are bad feelings I've had since 2016 tbh, but more and more they become real. I fear that people have become more self-centered, conservative and bigoted as a backlash towards actions of coming together to reverse climate change and abolish oppression. People feel they're losing the power they were never meant to have above others and the environment.

It's still my duty to have hope, but having hope is effort. Having hope is continuing to fight while taking ten steps back towards a fucking cliff innit.

I think it’s possible. Maybe not the next election, but I don’t think never. Plenty of other countries have had women as leaders. Mexico elected their first woman president this past year. Obviously things are different there, but there’s a lot of misogyny from machismo beliefs. We had a president who is black for 2 consecutive terms in 2008 & 2012. I don’t think it’s unrealistic for a woman to be president here one day.
There needs to be a stronger candidate for it to happen. People didn’t trust Hillary and a lot of people weren’t a fan of Kamala to begin with.

I honestly don't think it will happen. Yes other countries have women leadership but thats because other countries have differing views on women to begin with. Yes we had a black man as a president and honestly I think that is as diverse as it will get for leadership here in America. If America wasn't ready for a white woman from the midwest, what makes us think that America was ready for a Blasian Woman from the west coast? I know that myself and a lot of us were ready in 2016 and yesterday for either, but if you just take a quick look at the election results map, it's quite evident that middle america is vehemently against the concept.

To be a woman in America, especially women of color, women that are outspoken, women that are educated, women that are strong, women that are independent... They are hated. They are vilified. They are crucified. They are shut down and beaten to submission. They are exiled. They are ultimately forgotten.

I remember back in 2020 I felt like the worst thing that could happen is Trump getting reelected four years later and the Trump era lasting what feels like 12 years vs 8, and that is now the reality that were actually living in F5VGBdY.gif

Let's not put this on her being a woman, or black.

She would say things like "I will make sure the US has the most powerful, lethal army in the world."

"I will make sure Israel has the right to defend itself." *proceeds to send 17 billion dollars of YOUR money to kill Palestinian women and children.

"We will arrest all illegal immigrants the moment they arrive and send them back."

It's not that she's a woman, it's more that she an awful, spineless human being who does what her overlords tell her.  All the while doing her "Keep calmala and no dramala" shtick on SNL. Yeah, right.

I'm glad she flopped. (And I despise Trump as much as anyone else)

she was doing great when she was kamala brat, calling republicans weird, etc. there was a huge surge of momentum behind her in the summer.

then i guess a protestor made her mad or something and she fired all her gen z campaign interns and called in biden's grey-haired campaign cronies :air:

maybe she was doomed to fail because of the economy. but if she kept up her initial messaging she could have maybe rode a steady wave to election day and stood somewhat of a chance

imo one of the reasons that led to her defeat was that she strained progressives away by trying to appeal and to win over the suburban , undecided and more moderate voters by pushing a more conservative agenda ( that even resembled some of the points made by conservative republicans )

Why vote for a Republican Lite when you can vote for the real thing?

dems once again bending over backwards in the last weeks before the election to appeal to the imaginary category of undecided swing state voters who are teetering between trump and harris, aka, your insane libertarian uncle :air:

meanwhile, dems coalition fell apart because they wanted to include progressives AND fascists

also concerning is the revealed demographic trend of gen z men leaning conservative. the kids are not okay y'all..

It's a balancing act, you have to mobilize your own political camp as well as appeal to undecided voters in the middle. I think Harris paid too much attention to her political opponent instead of offering her own program.

I think this was the main reason. And maybe the relation to Biden at all as Vice President

Mostly the economy.

As well as having to walk a tightrope between staying on Biden's good side since he elected her while also having to hide his faulty policies.

And not showing any support for Palestine, completely allianating the Muslim, American-arab and anti-genocide communities.

And the fact that she spent a lot of times slagging off Trump instead of bringing actual ideas to the table to fix the economy.

And the fact that she reached out to Beyonce and other billionaires for support, as opposed to campaigning around American firemen, police officers, regular folks in most voters' income brackets.

Literally what I just said.
