I kinda wonder if something happened behind the scenes because surely she planned to have something out in time for Stagecoach? I'm pretty sure something happened to Lasso before it became TRPWS, probably the label or even herself, dk. Remember that some artists have had problems with labels before because they didn't release the projects, much less approve them too.

I feel like Lana was totally ready to release lasso last year but something happened 🫤😶 eitherway its a lana thing to do

I agree--probably a combination of things, some we know about and one or more we don't. I have a feeling that the "Gee--so many artists are releasing country albums right now" was a ruse or obfuscation, a face-saving measure--which is fair.

doubt, Lana has had a habit of announcing projects that either never manifest or are extremely delayed since 2012

she doesnt think before she announces things, leaving Ben/Interscope to call her up and telling her a release is not possible with the timeline she has in mind OR

she has some broad ideas and thinks shell get the whole project done by the deadline required to release it on date X, and fails to meet it cause things happen
