I'm autistic myself and just know that body language is not my strength. But in his case, he should be absolutely aware of what he does in public and what signs he sends out, even if he has been diagnosed with Asperger's.

I’m genuinely asking and am curious: do people think Trump will become a full on dictator and try to overthrow the United States government? Obviously he does not care at all about the constitution or norms and is only interested in his own personal gain / power / nursing his tiny ego. And we all saw what he did the last time he was booted out of the White House. But do people truly think he will try to stay in power at the end of his term and rule? It’s wild to even have to ask this. It’s also wild to see democrats and talking heads from cable news who have screamed Trump is a wannabe dictator for almost 10 years now be friendly with him. Part of me thinks a lot of this is performance theater and people looking out for their own gain. But I also think this country is primed for a takeover right now and it seems a large majority of people are so brainwashed they would be fine tearing up the constitution if Trump told them it was fine. It’s hard to imagine what this country looks like four years from now (certainly way worse off) and what happens next when / if he leaves office.

I'm not sure if something so blatant as overthrowing the government is a possibility because all branches of the federal government have been successfully taken over by conservatives. Trump was democratically elected (lol) and has the legislative and judiciary branches of government on his side. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the government has already been overthrown and it wasn't with a coup d'etat, it was the consequence of decades of conservative strategy and a lack of adequate response from the incompetent democratic party.

The media (both social media and traditional news outlets) collectively bending the knee is another unfortunate sign that the takeover has already happened.

As for Trump staying in office, part of fascism is a strict interpretation of law for enemies of the state and an elastic interpretation for those who already have power. If they want, the government can interpret already existing law or create new law to forever disadvantage the opposing party or keep Trump and Vance in power forever. It's hard to predict the future on this because it depends on what exactly Trump wants to do (because he can do whatever he wants now basically).

Trump isn’t even Catholic and hasn’t spoken highly of Catholics in the past. I found out that my hyper-Catholic family held an “Inauguration Party” yesterday. It is not the first Trump-themed celebration to be held on that side of the family 

 

It’s a really dark zeal that I’ve not seen before and watching it delude people very close to me is distressing
