This def sounds like it was recorded in 2021. I mean this in the most neutral way possible but you can hear that she was plus-size when she sang this. It’s fierce

mod note: user was warned for this post

My fat ass eating a whole roll of Oreo Mint Thins just cackling and the warning only makes it funnier

I think it’s a conscious decision to change the tone of her voice for different songs, I don’t think the year makes much of a difference, I strongly suspect she still has the vocal clarity and agility (think about Blue Skies) to sing how she did in BTD and Ultraviolence (e.g shades of cool). But she is also like over a decade older, and probably just wants to adapt it to suit her age.
Can’t be doing that baby voice when you’re almost 40. (You deffo can, but it does not have the same effect).

Totally.

someone said in here once (I tended to disagree but now I’m like ehh maybe they’re right) that her falsetto is a little weaker and it could be age + vape-related. It’s complete speculation. I don’t know her and I’m not a doctor.

Someone else in this thread said that they prefer her singing in her lower register and I tend to agree - I am a huge fan of when she gets down into a lower range. I melt 🫠

regardless I think she sounds great still, and I’m gonna stream everything she makes

I love the lower, thick register too. The opening lines of Radio. Oceans of melting honey.

wow this is so good

is the producer Mike Dean or someone else?

I think this was recorded at the same time as all about Ethel (I have no proof to that claim just a gut feeling)

Abel, Mike Dean, Metro Boomin and DeHeala produced the song.

I remember when he first started teasing The Abyss months ago and I loved this song already… it’s the one I preferred out of all the snippets or singles. But i was so tired this morning I didn’t even recognize that it was the same song. I was too excited for Lana’s part :bebe: Way to go, Abel, have Lana feature on your best song :gclap:
