I think the FTC’s rules are hugely important for creating transparency, but I don’t really see it relevant to Lana’s posts as they were editorialized, branded photos from a SKIMs photoshoot. 
 

If Lana had been paid by Skims to post a candid selfie with a caption about how much she likes Skims, then I’d understand the importance of clearly labeling it as an “ad”. But the photoshoot was very obviously something Lana had been hired for.

Exactly, none of Lana’s Skims posts have the “paid partnership” label or #ad , per the case decision Skims asked Lana to modify the posts but she hasn’t.

this is all to do with the FTC and NAD - this isn’t kim personally coming for lana or the Mahomes girl. 

 

if lana got paid then she apparently has to specify that. however i think it’s obvious it was a paid partnership/deal

I don’t know, it kinda makes sense to me but maybe that’s because we have pretty good laws here in Sweden that social media posts must mention if they’re sponsored or an ad. But then again, Lana’s was a model for Skims, so she could maybe get away with it being a portfolio piece and not an ad.
