They said they want to hear Lana do a cover of that song. I haven't listened to her new album yet, so I have no opinion. That said, TayTay probably does take inspiration from Lana on some level. I can fix him is one I’ve listened to and I really don’t hear any Lana vibes or concepts. Definitely not Ultraviolence… The only similarity is bad boys but Lana approaches them so differently. 28 minutes ago, Topanga said: I haven’t heard one that made me think of Lana Right like… 7 minutes ago, honeyslow said: I don’t think the songs themselves are reminiscent of Lana songs. I think it’s extremely obvious that in certain places she’s trying to borrow stylistically from Lana but it really doesn’t end up having the effect that same device would have in a Lana song. They’re just completely different personalities and the entire way they write their music and what they try to convey with it is too different for it to work that way. This 100%. When people make Lana comparisons (this is true for a lot of artist comparisons) I think the extent of their Lana knowledge comes from tiktok parody videos. Like how that planet of the bass guy makes those “every [insert artist] song sounds like this” and it just doesn’t.
Nectar Of The Puss 1,011 Posted April 19 Not saying this album isn’t good it’s beyond anything I could imagine but I feel like with this album she’s almost trying to slightly step back from the classic radio hit for example anti hero, there’s not really any songs that I could imagine staying number 1 for too long or be on the radio.

Nectar Of The Puss 1,011 Posted April 19 I have to stay up till midnight to order the albatross since I’ve spent too much on merch today so my banks blocked my card. I actually hate my bank so much they blocked my card for spending to much at a Gracie Abrams concert and it declined in front of everyone and it was so annoying because I literally had more than enough money The albatross has the best vibe from the bonus tracks hands down nothing else

Fuck Our Generation 755 Posted April 19 I'm here after the first listen. I think I got my expectations too high but it is still a good album and I would like to listen to it again
Rocket0212 2,056 Posted April 19 Saved 14 songs, won't even try it with the ones that didn't make it on the 1st listen. Hoping that this shortened version will click and if it does I'll come back to the full thing in a few weeks. Honestly I expected more, a new chapter in her career, since Mid and Eras tour felt like an end of an era. Maybe I just set my expectations way too high knowing that this woman made Folklore.

champainproblms 1,440 Posted April 19 the anthology tracks are giving strong folkmore vibes, not only the sound but also the lyrics, while the standand is a lot more midnights esque

Embach 42,644 Posted April 19 I finished the standard album. Clara Bow was a beautiful ending for it! 🥲 My favorites so far are Florida!!! (Florence's and Taylor's part were amazing, a perfect and beautiful collab!), So Long London, But Daddy I Love Him, I Can Fix Him and Clara Bow. Since the album is very cohesive, it needs many relistens because I am not really good at remembering songs after first listens, especially when they're cohesive. It's a very intensive album as well and by that I mean lyrically. It definitely needs many re-reads as well! I'll listen to The Anthology next week because right now I am very overwhelmed (it's not a bad thing because I am always very overwhelmed when my favorites are releasing new albums and when I have to "digest" it emotionally next to other albums I have been used to), today or even tomorrow it would be too much for me now. I did listen to one song a bit, I can't remember but it was folky, I kind of loved it, I'm excited for this. I think it's my 4th favorite now so far. My top three is Reputation, Lover and Folklore/Evermore, I'm emotionally too attached to those albums, so I can't see the ranking change right now. Poets Department is one of her best albums and lyrically her best. It's very intense and complex in a very Taylorish way. Sonically, it's very light and I love it. It does have Jack Antonoff's and Aaron Dessner's signature sound and production handwriting but it didn't bother me that much since the album is very cohesive. It's like Midnights (and Midnights 3 AM songs) meets Folklore/Evermore. The fact I didn't set my expactations high or even that I had no idea what to expect helped a lot to click with this album at first listen, I think. We all found out what happened between her and Matty Healy. He was a shit, wbk. But I never understood the background of her and Joe's break-up. At first I thought that he had a depression and anxiety, then I thought he didn't want to marry her, then I thought he cheated her? I just didn't understand at all, can someone explain that to me? Taylor did like a fanpage's post on Instagram where there was a meme of a triangle and how Joe and Matty Healy are the "low tier exes" lmao
