Book Thread!

Recommended Posts

I just finished up The Night Circus, that was pretty great. And Fifty Shades Freed

Terribly written and terribly addicting XD

Reaaaaally? sick.gif

Personally, I just finished with Victora (it was really good and touching) by Knut Hamsund, and today I finished the prologe to the Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring so I'm gonna start reading the actual book before I go to bed today! Can't wait, the movies are so good, and the book is always better!

lol yes! i couldn't put the Fifty series down XD What's Victora about? You know I'm not crazy about the LOTR books for some reason. I never really got into them for some reason. Can you believe the Hobbit is going to be THREE movies btw!?

They sound pretty digusting tbh. It's a love story, but not a classic one. You should read it!

This summer I read the Hobbit and the Silmarillion, and they were pretty good! I'm no huge fan of the way he writes, but the stories are so capturing. The last I read was was that it's going to be two movies! There only were a rumor that it was gonna be three. But I think even two movies are a little too much, hahhahha.

They're actually not, really. It's much more of a typical romance than is advertised, especially the very fairy tale ending. It's not a rumor anymore, btw, 3rd one is coming out in 2014 lol XD I just can't at that....I agree about the stories. I did really like The Hobbit. It was magical :)

George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series which Game of Thrones was based on. Consists of five books so far (more coming in) -- Awesome awesome obsessed with those

A Visit From the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan -- loooove

Please Look After Mom by Kyung-Sook

The Tiger's Wife by Tea Obreht

Currently reading: State of Wonder by Ann Patchett

The Hunger Games series was amazing, all three of them.

A new favorite author of mine is China Mieville; his sci-fi/fantasy heroines are quite interesting. Embassytown is a wild look at how language can function (sounds boring, but it's not -- I love analyzing communication!). Un Lun Dun is a Young Adult book, but grownups can enjoy it too; it reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, but funnier and modern.

I'm addicted to Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire series (Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood), and I devoured Deadlocked in two days. I'm in the middle of The Sookie Stackhouse Companion -- worth checking out; the new novella at the beginning was quite good.

Another favorite read this summer was Divergent by Veronica Roth. I am next on the waitlist at my library to get the sequel, Insurgent, and I am too excited.

I've just finished George Martin's A Storm of Swords, the third Ice and Fire book, and it was just amazing! Now I bought A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons :D

I really want to read Lolita and The Wheel of Time saga, but I haven't found them here in my city
