jvcx 3,644 Posted January 14, 2019 I was afraid Suspiria (2018) would turn out to be all style & no substance, but BOY was I wrong! The film is both mesmerising & HORRIFYING! themes: abuse of power, unfettered madness, motherhood AND (!)... the one & only male character in the film, is portrayed by a woman. the ending of Suspiria that scene where the ritual is made left me disturbed Welcome to the coven I watched it yesterday evening as well despite not having subs for the German parts, thank god I apparently memorized them quite well the first two times with Finnish subs. And god damn even seeing it for the third time, it just flew by like wtf it's 2,5 hours yet it went so fast Spoiler alert I just love the Volk scene so much and the climax, I keep watching the "I am she" part over and over again, I just love how different Susie's from what she's like in the beginning and with everything going red as she says it omg yas embrace the Mother Suspiriorum in you Fuck a Helena Markos prequel, I need to see what Susie's up to next

Just my kind of film... so any news about the prequel apart from the one we got in October 2018? So it might be centred around Markos & not the other two mothers. Angela Winkler (one of the matriarch) was also in Dark (2017) - my favourite show after American Horror Story. Edit: I've heard the people say that the subtitles with the german parts in english should leak tomorrow from iTunes.

I don't really know how much of a priority it is since I think he's going to get the CBYN sequel over with first and somehow I just can't see him doing two sequels in a row

jvcx 3,644 Posted January 28, 2019 Fuck I thought I completely missed out on the upcoming limited edition LP of unreleased Suspiria outtakes because it sold out before I even found out about it but apparently independent retailers will get a limited quantity of it. Well I thought I'd check out this Finnish record store's website just in case, didn't think they'd end up getting it but holy fuck they will and I just preordered mine

Tragic Rabbit 3,355 Posted January 28, 2019 ok watched suspiria. i feel like i got a good understanding of the movie but i don’t understand why it ended with the A+J closeup. ...... someone explain plsAnke + Jozef Anke lived only in the psychiatrist's memory, but after mother Suspiria (Susie) revealed that Anke was already dead and he was expecting in vain, she erased all his memory to relieve him from the pain & guilt (which in my personal opinion was not the right thing to do as her memories were the most precious thing in his life) The last shot is an inscription the two carved on wood long ago when she was alive. So Anke & Josef's love is gone but the symbol of their love remains. (did your video not have subtitles?) There is also a post-credit scene where mother Suspiria erases the memory of the audience through a hand gesture.

jvcx 3,644 Posted March 5, 2019 Ari Aster's Midsommar trailer just dropped! Ooh midsummer is a thing over here so this sort of hits close to home for me, even though we don't do that dancing-around-a-giant-pole thing and it's a bit different here than it is in Sweden - except for probably areas that are mostly populated by Swedish-speaking Finns. Watching the trailer reminded me of a low-budget "horror" film I saw a few years ago, if I remember correctly it was about Russian tourists who were locked up in a Finnish supermarket at night and the employees started attacking and eating them or something, some of them were caught and taken to a fancy lake villa where a group of rich Finns were about to sacrifice and eat them in honor of midsummer. It's all a blur to me now because it was so bad lol Also yaaaasss Suspiria comes out on blu-ray on April 1st over here

I'm really interestes in it of course for the director, but also because it all happens in not only daylight, but also the film looks like it has a really bright look to it, It's such a weird scenery for a horror movie.
jvcx 3,644 Posted April 2, 2019 Well Suspiria came out on blu-ray in Finland yesterday, one of my local supermarkets has been selling it since Thursday for some reason and... I don't fucking have it. I preordered mine from a company that usually ships early enough, usually if a blu-ray is coming out on Monday, I receive mine a couple of days in advance on Friday. Once I even received a steelbook two weeks before the real release date. But not fucking this time, I thought it would be delivered today but yeah nope so it better be here when I get from home tomorrow or I'll be pissed af. I've seen it like 4 times but I need it, I've been waiting for the blu-ray ever since I saw it in November and I've only seen it twice with Finnish subtitles and y'all know how obsessed I am with it. I'm going to my folks next week so I can't wait to force my mom sit through it, since we usually watch a film or two together every time I visit them. Anyways I drew another one, I think I might like this one better than the one that I have framed even though I missed some details in this one as well, oops. On a sidenote, I went to see Us last weekend and it was pretty okay. Much, much better than Get Out in my opinion. Lupita was on fire.

TheBoss 13,513 Posted July 6, 2019 So I know Ari Aster only has two movies but I already consider him a favorite director. Hereditary and now Midsommar >>>>>>>> Hereditary might have been my favorite movie of last year, I'm incredibly hyped for Midsommar, it will get released in my country in September though The Perfection was good. Wouldn't call it horror though. Idk what, maybe thriller? I can't even remember the last decent horror movie I watched that was actually pure horror I got REALLY hyped for The Perfection once I read BloodyDisgusting's review about it. It was an okay movie, I believe It could've been miles better tho, the idea was there but I think they executed it really bad, plus some of the acting and the script was not good at all. But hey that's just me, I saw it with my boyfriend and a friend and they enjoyed it a lot. What’s everyone’s opinion on the 2018 Halloween sequel film? And what’s your guys’ opinion on the new Sequel for that movie that’s coming out? I liked it a lot! It was a very good and solid slasher and I hope we get a sequel, Idk if it's still in progress since Miramax is being sold around (the studio that has the right to both the Halloween and Scream saga). And I'm so glad that it was a smash in the box office and critics alike, seeing a great solid slasher nowadays it's quite rare.
