That's a fascinating way to describe it. My faves from that mixtape are almost undoubtedly 'Moments In Love' or 'Dance For You,' but I think they're all really strong tracks, epsecially since she apparently composed them during a week she was touring.

The eerie vocal murmuring/moaning throughout the song really does a lot to me emotionally. It's like ghosts are trying to tell me something through the song. Idk.. something like that. The more I've paid attention to the lyrics, also, has just made the song that much more powerful for me. The was the heavy bass trips over the beat is like I'm being pounded on the head while ghosts struggle to sing to me, and then Charli's angelic voice coupled with the piano & lovely lyrics just completely ruin me. 

 

 

I do enjoy the entire mixtape though. All great songs. My next favorite is either Heatwave or Forgiveness.

Some thoughts:

 

- I think Grins or Take My Hand are my favorite. I'm really caught up on the newness of TMH so that might fade to make it second place but I don't know, it has potential to be my overall favorite.

- Definite demo-itis with "How Can I" and "Set Me Free", unfortunately. SMF in particular sounds sort of empty without all the beats from the demo.

- Lock You Up survived the wrath of demo-itis because it's such a good song, but I find I'm more partial to her vocal delivery in live performances.

- The atmospheric bits in Nuclear Seasons and Take My Hand that sort of foreshadow other songs on the album are really great.

- Black Roses isn't the coolest thing ever like I was hyping it up to be prior to hearing it but it's growing on me.

 

Overall, pretty happy and more excited than I thought I would be with the shortage of new songs. Made an order of preference just for fun.

I CANNOT even begin to understand the hate for You're the One. I still think it is my absolute favorite song of hers. The beat is superior to me, and her vocals are just perfect in it. Please explain. Is it just too pop for everyone here?

I think there's something missing on "You're the One." It's not that the track is terrible or anything, but it's not too powerful to be considered a single or anything (in my opinion). I feel glad that some other people share my point of view, I thought everyone loved the song.

 

Even after the album coming out, it seems that no song is able to overshadow the perfection that "Nuclear Seasons" is to me. It's just SO good.

Early love of the live version, I guess. However, Nuclear Seasons with the new badass intro is quickly becoming one of my most played Charli songs.

 

I CANNOT even begin to understand the hate for You're the One. I still think it is my absolute favorite song of hers. The beat is superior to me, and her vocals are just perfect in it. Please explain. Is it just too pop for everyone here?

 

I don't like the verses in combination with the chorus. The chorus especially is too filler for me. It's a cool outtro, though, but really always been one of my least favorites.

I like it but I think it falls flat a bit after the first chorus.

Take my Hand slays me, throughout the whole song, but I die at the end, like between camps of neon roses.

And talking about roses, I LOVE Black Roses... I think the tracks she didn't release as singles are the best of the album, and I hope it is not a so hipster thing to say
