TrailerParkDarling 5,701 Posted October 13, 2012 thanks, sitar, once again! ♥ now, blue hydrangea again! like in axl rose husband! another mike song? To me this sounds like a song she'd written after a relationship ended. Like- where are you Elvis? Cos that's her dream man and she needed his music to get her through <3 <3 3 Quote *** People call me crazy but I'm in demand ***

(maybe post-mike?) that's part of why i love this song, i can really relate - but replace elvis with jeff buckley or elliott smith, in my case
Sitar 22,218 Posted October 13, 2012 that's part of why i love this song, i can really relate - but replace elvis with jeff buckley or elliott smith, in my case I really love Elvis myself, and this song was one of the first ones I listened to on YouTube when delving into her unreleased work. Holds a special place in my heart. I currently have it under "K", though "/
Monicker 3,035 Posted October 13, 2012 Dude...what the hell happened to Elizabeth's lyrical skills? She was so good and it seems after she peaked she just went gradually downhill, but in such a short amount of time. Why did the quality of her writing drop so much? ¿Que paso con esta chica, coño? 2 Quote "The limits of my language mean the limits of my world." -Wittgenstein

She was so good and it seems after she peaked she just went gradually downhill, but in such a short amount of time. Why did the quality of her writing drop so much? ¿Que paso con esta chica, coño? ¡qué pasó, indeed! seriously, she painted such amazing pictures with her words. but i guess that change in lyrical style (less metaphorical and profound, more straightforward and repetitive) was part of the transition into her lana del rey persona. it really is a pity. hopefully, she's still got it in her to re-connect with the "beautiful poet" side of her creativity. more of this and less of the poppy, "fun" but shallow 2011/12 leaked songs-style, please
VegasBaby 895 Posted June 28, 2013 Just a bump for this song because I think it's absolutely beautiful. The lyrics - her voice. Anymore love for Elvis? 4 Quote Sweeping scents and blue hydrangea. Summer hail and summer stranger.
C0neyIslandKing 2,206 Posted June 28, 2013 It's always been in my top 5 favourites and I think it always will! It just has a special feeling about it that I can't explain, just the way it makes me feel when I listen to it! I get the same feeling with Disco too <3
Sitar 22,218 Posted June 29, 2013 Just a bump for this song because I think it's absolutely beautiful. The lyrics - her voice. Anymore love for Elvis? Yeah, I always go back to this song and just get astounded with the picture of desperation she paints. Her cute-ass country twang, too...only Lana.

annedauphine 36,030 Posted December 19, 2015 I was thinking of this song this morning, I can't believe how stellar these lyrics are. The whole piece is beyond haunting, the way her voice goes completely higher in one of the last chorus on "elvis", I don't know how to describe it, but it just shakes the marrow in my bones ugh. I wish we'd knew how her mind was like when she recorded it.
slang 1,533 Posted December 20, 2015 One of my favorites too. I've always wondered if it were a reaction to Kate Bush's King of the Mountain video (and song), which was released 2005. Their songs are only similar topically; however, the "White comp sequin jumpsuit ghost", if I understand the meaning of that phrase correctly, might occur literally in Bush's video. Her "chantilly lace catching on the chandelier" is also kind of a weird image, but in the context of a KB video reference, it could mean LDR sees herself as a ghost dancing with him. "King Of The Mountain" Could you see the aisles of women? Could you see them screaming and weeping? Could you see the storm rising? Could you see the guy who was driving? Could you climb higher and higher? Could you climb right over the top? Why does a multi-millionaire Fill up his home with priceless junk? The wind is whistling The wind is whistling Through the house Elvis are you out there somewhere Looking like a happy man? In the snow with Rosebud And king of the mountain Another Hollywood waitress Is telling us shes having your baby And theres a rumour that youre on ice And you will rise again someday And that theres a photograph Where youre dancing on your grave The wind is whistling The wind is whistling Through the house Elvis are you out there somewhere Looking like a happy man? In the snow with Rosebud And king of the mountain The wind it blows The wind it blows the door closed

annedauphine 36,030 Posted January 24, 2016 Perhaps this has already been discussed but I distinctively hear "baby's breathing Elvis lyrics" every time. But I'm very bad at transcribing and English isn't my first language so that might be wrong. In any way I much prefer what I hear because it's so much more powerful, she loves Elvis so much that his music becomes the air that she breathes. It's a beautiful, poetic metaphor. I know I said it already but I don't think these lyrics can be topped. This song is an utter masterpiece. She's killing me.
