Lust For Life - Pre-Release Thread

Recommended Posts

I feel bad for her. She's getting so much hate on her Facebook page because of how commercial and pop the song is. Honestly I wish these pretentious "fans" would just fuck off already. I understand that it might not be their favorite kind of music Lana has released. Even for me personally I would have preferred she did something more experimental but at the end of the day I will still support her and listen to the music because 1) it's still amazing even if it is pop and very commercialised and 2) that's what a true fan does.

EDIT: mess at that last guy not knowing how to spell and also using the acronym "LDL" instead of "LDR"  :toofunny:  :toofunny:   And further mess at that Tabitha girl not liking it because it is too "commercial" - because, you know, a song is automatically  bad if other people like it and it ends up selling well  :toofunny:

It's FB who even cares. Ask them about unreleased songs and they'll only know Serial Killer.

It was about damn time for a released pop song.

This backflash was expected though bc have u guys been on here lately? Everytime someone said they want smth more pop they got attacked too l. It's like with gaga fans, the bubble of the elusive artist never pandering to the gp breaks once they do.

I don't even understand the complains about Lana "betraying" her fans and going mainstream. It's understandable that people may not like the song but it's not any more pop than Born to Die, National Anthem or Dark Paradise were. It's not a surprise that Lana can also write big sounding fully pop songs other than acustic ones recorded on an old iPhone.

I get if some people dont like it, but with some of these reactions honestly its like Lana is releasing a fucking Justin Bieber song or something while twerking in a video.

Yes its more commercial sounding, but its still Lana, its sweeping, its romantic, its mellow......shes totally there.

She hasn't become Kesha for Gods sake. Some fans are honestly screaming in anger while driving their cars off a cliff full of Lana merchandise.

Some of these hysterical reactions are so..,

Like I said I don't hate it and I don't even think it's a full on pop song sonically it still is dark although its definately more commercial and like I said lyrically it's a lazy version of charli xcx with "take off, take off"+8 and the talk/rap bridge

At least for me, the problem is not that she is doing pop - that's what she did on BtD and I LOVED that record to bits. The problem is the way it is executed. I feel like it's just so hectic and generic, it's not really sticking out of the usual top 10 radio charts mush that you hear everywhere right now. It's forgetable and I can't detect the Lana  Del Rey-touch that is usually applied to everything she does - if it wasn't for her voice on it. The track could have been done by pretty much any pop gurl that is featured on a Chainsmokers EDM single.

Just do it. Just do it - don't wait!

I hope she releases another uv next so we can see the other half of the fan base have a breakdown like the people are with btd 2.0

I'm pretty sure the music's going to cover a lot of ground on this record alone, so we'll be getting the breakdowns as each song is revealed/listened to when it comes out.

I actually feel differently I just don't think she should repeat btd it's her most overrated album its good but there were a lot of mistakes I think it's completely different to the charts dance hall esque pop but this album doesn't feel like Lana evolving it's a deevolution for me and there's so many routes she could of taken such as cinematic horror or grunge based rock.however, let's see what the album as a whole is first we might be suprised I heard it's May jailer esque which would also be bad because she ain't trying anything new.

I would understand being upset at Lana if she went full Katy Perry or Britney Spears and released an effortless, hypercommercial song. But Lust For Life achieved both being pop and being sonically and artistically good. So those fans complaining need to chill.

Also, they're not really familiar with her earlier body of work if they think that Lust For Life is something she wouldn't have released before, since it could easily have fitted on Born To Die. And some of her unreleased songs are poppy like that.

I have a feeling that Lust For Life (the album) is going to be a good combination of Born To Die, AKA, and Ultraviolence. So we'll probably see a diverse range of upset people.

I don't even think the sound of the song is the issue (at least for me) but that awful chorus kills the song. The chorus is just hm level boring, OTTRA, DMD and other bops cannot relate. If you wanna do a bop don't make the chorus the worst part of the song.

Your really fucking stupid if you think L4L is like any typical radio song.

This 100% lana. With an H Hollywood sign and the crazy witch video. No one does that.

If she releases something like The Cure and chase trends. I'd be unstanning right now.
