@@naachoboy just saw this today. Listening to it at this moment.

So I youtube her (obviously) and I think Know What I want comes to life with the visuals. I liked ! Her voice needs work, but her tone is nice, which is the most important in my humble opinion.  agree with @@butterflies that the beat could be stronger.
In another hand her sound is very colombian even if she's singing in english. The Caribbean soft beat and soft drums give a nice chill vibe that I really enjoy. It's like Mate tea really, perfect for the summer LOL

Her visuals reminds me Marina plus Amy and at some points she does reminds me of Azealia in a Nude Beach a go go style. I don't think she's flat, more like Blasé a la Astrud Gilberto during Bossa Nova era, it's not really flat is more like "I don't care" kind of thing.

Anyway I liked quite a bit, gonna download her ep

    here here the videos

Red Balloon is so childish that even though I want to like it, I feel like a middle schooler listening to it...

So Over You actually isn't bad. I really like the chord progression. And the verses have some respectable lyrics.

Actually I love So Over You now.

Rihanna is wearing a quinceneara dress, Gaga looks classy and pretty, Katy and Miley are stuck in 2009 and 2013 respectively, Madonna at 50 something is still the best performer America has to offer, Obama the war and guns president presents the ironic campaign against violence at the award which ironically awards every rapist, women beater available like Chris Brown, R Kelly Campbell, Eminem and such all while Katy Perry sings a song about her divorce

    Since you asked, @@SitarHero.

The reason I got tired of Marina was a mix of things. Part of it was (I think in retrospect) that I associated her music with a very specific time of my adolescence, and as I grew up and wanted to distance myself from the person I was at that point. So, as I remember @@PrettyBaby mentioning a long time ago, cognitive dissonance is indeed a dear, dear friend of mine. Another part of that is that Marina's music from the first two albums seems to cater (at least in the circles i'm in) to a demographic i do not want to be associated with. And I don't think that I realized that at the time, but whenever I meet someone who says they listen to Marina these days, chances are they fit a certain stereotype.

Marina (at least, on her first two albums - i have not listened to the new stuff, and though i think i will eventually, i'm not going to speak for music i haven't heard) and now Charli both seem to me to make music that will one day sound like period pieces. this is true for plenty of songs that make it onto the radio - it's as if they sacrifice their ability to transcend petty trends or fads in order to reach a broader audience. And it's true that time alone can test the longevity of music like theirs - we'll know if it's made it if in twenty years people still refer to theses albums as works of art truly valuable.

i know this is a hard claim to qualify - and i don't usually think about it in these terms. i have realized, though, that as a teenager, i go through all kinds of phases. Like Lorde talked about in her debut liner notes, being my age usually means that we change our stances on things very strongly. we love something, and then we hate it; we really care about something or someone, and in a short time might loathe the same person or thing with a burning passion. and i hope that someday i won't be like that - i think that'll come with being an adult. but one way i have tried to combat this is by listening to music that has already entered a canon of acclaim. Which is fitting, for there was a time when all the music I listened to came out within a three-or-so year window. The beauty of the internet, though, is that it allows us to tap into the knowledge of our past clearer than anything before, and gives us the chance to find out about what was en vogue a decade ago with a few clicks of a button.

TL;DR: I don't really know. I'm tired, decided to log on and answer this question, and end up ranting about the digital age and the concept of canonization.

    Love y'all.

You've asked for the West Coast promo cd - which you could've paid for - and weren't you working on an Ellie Goulding master post with links to released & purchable music? Isn't that hypocritical? Almost every single thread in the entertainment section has links to purchable music - unless you're going to go through every single post and call people out on posting links, don't call me out.  If people like the artist enough, they'll buy their albums or support them in other ways like paying for merch or seeing them in concert. If I didn't post it, people would've found other sites to download it from anyway. Most people like to listen to an artist before they buy music anyway, who's to say that me posting that leads to others giving Tove Lo a chance and really liking her and deciding to buy her music? I do that with every single artist I listen to and I'm sure others do it too.

Not that I necessarily disagree with the sentiment here but I don't think there's any real obligation to feel super passionately about her statements when they're most often not very serious at all and I don't like the implication (IMPLICATION!) that there's something problematic going on with gay men supporting her. Nor does it boil down to "giving a pass" based on music, at least for me. Nor should you eliminate the possibility that people actually agree with her outside of appreciating her as an artist. (Though you won't find me mixed up there--she says lots of smart stuff and lots of incredibly stupid shit and the latter doesn't really move me because I have a lot of faith in her developing politics anyway.)

LOL. You're a parody of yourself yet again: Dismissing out of hand what someone says entirely because of who they are rather than what they're saying, as usual.
Immediately deflecting with the phrase "textbook definitions" because you have no argument when someone calls you out for having your facts wrong.
Saying you don't agree something is offensive, but that you'll stop doing it if a woman tells you it's offensive in a thread about a woman saying it's offensive.
Are a man expressing an opinion contrary to a woman on a subject while saying men's opinions on the subject shouldn't be listened to in response to someone who hadn't even expressed an opinion on the subject yet.

And look at @@Atom Heart knee-jerk "Like"-ing every post of yours in disagreement with me no matter how poorly argued. You should really ask the admin for an auto-"Like" button for that shit. It would really save you a lot of time.

    evilentitties?? jacktitties???
Ha, yeah, it is super ironic that @@comeintomybedroom, not a member of the group most affected, is arguing that a word has always been used more generally than just that group, after complaining about me doing that. The key difference, of course, being that in my case that was actually true.

This is far from the only time she's said really questionable shit about gay men. I'm really mystified why so many people, especially gay men, are giving her a pass on that. Is this sort of like how so many of you give Lana a pass on stupid shit she says because you stan her music? Are you so dug in defending Azealia's side in other Twitter spats that you can't do the mental gymnastics required to side against her in this one? I've never understood why it's so hard to say someone's in the wrong when they are just because you generally like them or generally agree with them, or say someone's right when they are just because you generally dislike them or generally disagree with them. I've never had much of a problem with that.
Which is why-- to actually express an opinion on the subject now-- I have no problem saying I think perpetual Twitter troll Azealia has a point here about the use of the word "bitch". (Although I think the answer is not to justify the use of the word "fag" or "faggot" as a slur, as she does, but to stop using the word "bitch" offensively.) As @@YUNGATA points out, it's all about context, of course. I could write a book length post on which instances I think are OK and which I think are not, and whether Lana's uses of the word herself are problematic, but one use in particular I've seen on this forum that makes me cringe is when people say about Lana or other women "this bitch needs to do X" or something like that. Intentionally or not, that comes across with a misogynistic undertone.
